I came in to get a very simple and straight 2 inch hair trim from Bella and it did not go as I was hoping. Bella was polite and listened to my easy request but her attention to detail and quality was not there. I came in with my hair almost fully dry from freshly washing it so she asked if I had just washed it, which of course I answered yes to. But I wasn't expecting this question to indicate that she would start cutting my hair dry. At first I was confused because at every salon I've been to, shampooing is usually included into the price of a hair cut but I went along with it thinking maybe this place just likes to charge more for shampooing and not mention that on their website or in person (and at this point I wasn't interested in paying them extra for it anyways). Then my dissatisfaction really started to kick in when I watched Bella measure my hair for evenness. When she did this, she took a part of my hair on both sides the first time really fast and with a very quick eye (possibly noticing a difference in length, I'm not really sure); then again immediately after only using her sense of touch while looking completely away from my hair altogether. Then she proceeded to snip a bit more on one side. My trusting personality started out hoping that this was just her technique but when I got home I realized it was purely lack of effort and care. Now, for paying $40 plus tip, I can't expect the best hair cut I've ever had, and apparently a complimentary shampooing either, but for such a basic hair trim, I would expect more than what I left with. The staff were all friendly and the vibe wad hip and laid back. I was offered water, soda, or a Lacroix when I arrived, and the receptionist took my coat. I felt immediately welcomed and comfortable in this salon, which was unexpected. Amber listened to my needs and looked at the pictures I offered to show her what my goal "look" was, and my hair turned out beyond my expectations! She recommended products that would help my hair but wasn't pushy about it, so I didn't feel "sold to". I will definitely be back - Amber earned a new loyal customer for sure!

The day of the appointment I got a call from someone else (stylist B) saying that she was running 20 min behind and asked if I could come 20 min later than scheduled, I said sure and that's what I did. I get there and stylist B greets me, this is when I realized she isn't the person I booked with, based on the picture. She said "your haircut is now with Stylist C and pointed to another woman standing by the desk. I had no choice in the matter and was already very annoyed but the switch ups but didn't feel like I could say no, plus I needed a haircut. Let's just say I was less than thrilled with stylist C and the haircut I ended up with. Also very unhappy with how unprofessional stylist B was, she never mentioned she is taking over my appointment, and she called to change the appointment time and was still unavailable. I also want to mention that I emailed the salon sharing my disappointment and have not heard back at all.. no apology, explanation or anything. So if you have a preference for a stylist make sure they don't change things up on you! Very disappointing customer service.

I want to share my incredibly distressing experience at Lua Nova Salon. I walked in excited for a new hairstyle, having shown the stylist a picture of what I wanted--a long bob (LOB) with layers. However, from the very first cut, I sensed something was off. The stylist next to mine reacted with wide eyes, looking back and forth between my hair and the floor, which immediately raised my concerns. Unfortunately, my fears were confirmed as the stylist butchered my hair. Instead of the layers I requested, I left with a blunt cut short bob that was nothing like what I had envisioned. To make matters worse, I was asked to leave while still in shock and tears. My distress made the stylist uncomfortable--yes, MY tears over my butchered hair were making HER uncomfortable. I was asked to leave looking like this, which made the situation all the more horrifying. I can't believe I walked into a place where, within 15 minutes, all my hair was chopped off, and I was treated as if I were the issue. I felt dismissed and invalidated during a moment that was deeply personal to me. I cannot express how heartbroken I am over this experience. If I could give negative stars, I absolutely would.
