Ate half of it and had to finish something up so came back to finish the other half later - I was getting ready to start in when I noticed a hair... When I looked closer it wasn't just a hair but seemingly a whole clump of hair/lent/dust/who knows what. After battling my inner anxiety about returning food I walked back to the food truck to present the issue and there was no care to see what I meant by 'clump of hair in my food'. The initial response was a soft 'sorry about that' then getting looked at like they were expecting me to walk away. I had to prompt 'okay so can we fix this' before the offer was made to make me a new sandwich which at that point I didn't have an appetite for. I understand things happen, more concern on their part would be appreciated though. All in all, it is tasty but just check your sandwich before digging in.

In the almost 30 years (damn) since then I've tried to eat it a couple of times but beyond the ick the quality of ingredients gives me, the flavor disappointed more each time. The Kobop version is an elevated take that produces the same meaty, crunchy, crispy, and creamy mouth feel while exponentially enhancing the flavor with Bulgogi beef and a zippy sauce. My only concern is that it's so big that I'm taking half home and with shredded lettuce inside it won't reheat well. Looks like there's a second dinner instore for me. Beyond this delightful experience, I also couldn't resist trying the Snack Pack, a happy hour treat including a taco, 3 dumplings, and Nashville fries for $9. It was an easy way to sample several menu items without an overwhelming bill. The Väsen bartenders were lovely, the kitchen staff was warm, and if I were a drinker, the beers look fantastic. This is the kind of food that makes you stop mid-conversation and comment on how good it is. The bar service was equally impressive. We placed our order through the bartender, and despite it being a Tuesday evening, there was plenty of staff on hand. Multiple team members checked on us throughout our visit, and every interaction was friendly, welcoming, and genuine. What really stood out was the sense of community. Although it's a relatively new addition to the Forest Hill area, it's already clear that locals have embraced it. They even have branded merchandise and cycling gloves for sale, and during our visit we watched several cyclists roll up, hop off their road bikes, and come inside still wearing their cycling gear. It felt like a true neighborhood gathering spot. Places like this give a neighborhood character, and Kobop Korean feels like something special.
