Slideways' truck is one of several that alternates lunches at Riverfront Plaza. They were on-site last week and my manager purchased their combo platter. I peered from afar in envy, but I had brought my lunch so I resisted a purchase of my own. My self-control​ wasn't quite as strong today. I had brought my lunch again, but Slideways was announced as a last-minute replacement for a different truck. I couldn't resist after reading through their menu. I purchased the combo platter, which came with a drink, hand-cut crispy fries, and the choice of mix/matched sliders. I selected the grilled chicken bacon ranch and the barbecue bacon cheddar beef. The food appeared to be made to order, as it took maybe 10-15 minutes to receive. My estimate could be off, though, since it was frigid and windy outside so time felt extra long! Both sliders were really tasty, but I leaned toward the beef as my preference. The beef was cooked a perfect medium and wasn't dry at all. The chicken was good but kind of basic. The fries were probably the best part. They were seriously delicious! I could eat those daily. My total was $14 after tax/tip, which is on the higher side but not too crazy for the quality and heartiness of the food. I'd definitely order again in the future. read more

Pretty darn good food truck food! Our neighborhood has been scheduling food trucks or restaurants that will deliver lots of orders over the Covid-19 pandemic and they were a hit. Order online and just pickup in a designated spot outside a person's house in the neighborhood who coordinated this. Just ordered a few beef burgers (3 all American and one BBQ bacon) and one chicken bacon ranch (without ranch) along with large orders of fries and tater tots and cheese fries (those are not a large order - which is probably half the large size). Daughter didn't like the chicken (bit did the bacon) - I think she really was expecting a breaded chicken but it was grilled instead; I ate it instead and it was good and flavorful. I ate half an all-american (cheese and pickle slice) and BBQ (sauce) bacon burger - the burgers were perfectly cooked and the burgers were just the right level of buttered and grilled/cooked. One slider will not be enough unless you do order a handful of sides (or you have younger kids)...t They did offer a special that included I think 2 sliders, fries and a drink (or something like that)... unfortunately I don't see it on their site to online order but it was shown on their truck when I arrived to pickup my order. I was a bit disappointed though because I requested "extra crispy" for all the fries and tots and they definitely weren't - that said they were fresh cut and tasty just not as we like it being very crispy. read more

We attended an event where this was the food truck onsite. My wife and I both got an all American and Jamaican Jerk chicken slider as well as fries. Both of the sliders were very good and the toasted buttered dinner roll used as the slider bun was awesome. The Jamaican slider came with a pineapple and chili aioli sauce and tasted great. The chicken was tender and had a small hint of spice. The fries were ample and did not require ketchup. The pineapple could have shined through a little bit more. It would be nice to have a diet soda option like Coke Zero or Diet Dr. Pepper instead of just Diet Coke. We both would order from here again so that is definitely a good sign. It was so good my wife has decided to try to replicate the slider this weekend for dinner. Hopefully she can come close! read more

Good, simple, tasty burgers made fast and fresh. Came here while they were at the Hardywood brewery. The buns are the doughy small ones that are a bit sweet and delicious--if terrible for you. The burgers are nice and juicy without falling apart. The toppings are good, but not quite enough to cause each burger to stand out the way you might hope. We got one of every beef burger and they were all good. I liked the black and blue burger, but that's because I always love those. My son devoured his all american burger and the rest were yummy. The barbecue burger was probably the most disappointing just because the sauce was sweet and tangy without being spicy. Still, yummy, fast, great truck food. read more

I visited this food truck in the lot next to MCV/the state capitol. I got the Jerk Chicken with the homemade jerk sauce and pineapple slice. It was SO GOOD!!! They have this wonderful jerk sauce concoction that's cinnamonny and spicy that goes perfectly with the sweetness of the pineapple on a toasted bun. The meat itself was really tender and juicy, and all for $4! The service was EXCELLENT! When they almost ran out of this [probably crack-containing] jerk sauce, the guy told me they wouldn't be able to get me a slider. After I told him how hungry I was, he said he would give me one and only charged me $2, with a free water on top. Top notch service and excellent, delicious, cheap food. Was impressed with my two sliders and fries I got during the Earth Day Festival. I tried the black and blue burger that has caramelized cheese and also the Bacon BBQ burger. Both were very hot and made to order. I was afraid the bun was going to fall apart but it didn't. I preferred the black and blue slightly more but both were very good. A bit messy to eat. Fries were great (hand-cut style) although I wish there was a tad less seasoning (seemed like salt, pepper and garlic powder). I was stuffed and couldn't eat the entire platter. Was worth the $10. First time trying this truck's fare and admit it was a mighty tasty slider. Two of 'em, in fact! Jamaican Jerk chicken & Buffalo Chicken with blue cheese. The chicken was tender and full of flavor from the seasoning. The bun was charred on the edges perfectly! I do not tip at food trucks without trying their food first. Really awesome sliders! My job was hosting a party last week, and they brought the Slideways truck for the employees. The food was cooked relatively fast [especially for the amount of people they were serving], and everything was super fresh and delicious. The employees were so friendly and courteous! A huge plus. I ordered a Black and Blue slider, and a Chicken Bacon Ranch slider, which were served with fries. Black and Blue was top notch; the burger had a nice char and the blue cheese wasn't overwhelming. The chicken slider was also good, but I was surprised it was made with thigh meat instead of breast meat. Definitely not a bad thing! Just different. The fries were crispy and very tasty. The bread they used for the sliders were also amazing; it was buttery and perfectly toasted. Every element of these sliders were on point! If Slideways is ever in the neighborhood again, I'll be sure to stop by for that Black and Blue slider. Great experience all around. read more

I honestly wish I got to try their food, but i waited in line nearly 10 mins just to be told they needed to go to another event and had to close down the line. I do not think it would have bothered me as much if they stopped taking customers all together or said nobody new in line BUT being the 4th person in line, and the last, they said "sorry were taking up to the guy in the hat & that's it". So after waiting 10 mins to try their food, they cut ME from the line & nobody else. not a feel good for the fam & me. :( read more

Hate to be the only one that leaves a poor review, however, this food truck came by my condo building in downtown Richmond by the canal and was absolutely PACKED around noon. At least 20-30 people by the truck! I thought to myself that this HAD to be good! Now, if the gentlemen had mentioned it would be a 45+ minute wait for two sliders I would have moved on, but he was eager to charge me and being honest about the wait time was clearly the least of his concerns. Later, I heard them saying they were understaffed so only two guys were running the show. So big deal, I wait, (it's only my entire lunch break and then some) - it's supposed to be worth it right? Wrong. The patties are BURNT TO A CRISP, DRY and the grill was being used so much there was this thick layer of gross char-like substance on what seemed like the one ounce of meat each slider amounted to. Long story short, if you catch them not busy and perhaps tell them you want a rare burger and their grill isn't gross that day, the may provide a positive experience. I am just irked they set no expectation for the customer, had me run over on my lunch break, ruined my lunch break and were the least bit concerned about it by providing me a terrible product they charged 12 dollars for. I'll leave you with this - they came back a couple weeks later (a few days ago from today) and I didn't see A SINGLE person by the truck as I walked by. read more

Slideways just catered an event at our house and it was the highlight of the party. We booked the truck through Christy who was so friendly, super responsive and very buttoned up. The guys rolled the truck right up to our street and were ready to go in under 15 minutes. The menu we chose offered beef, chicken and black bean sliders and fries - a great variety. And of course it was SO delicious!!! Also love that you can mix/match the sliders in the combo option. Food trucks are a great option for backyard parties, if you have enough foot traffic. No need to man the grill yourself, no clean up or utensils on your part. The food is hot and fresh. Kid-friendly too since the burgers aren't ginormous. Highly recommend them!!!! read more

I love the ideas of sliders. Sometimes, a burger can be too much immediately after a run. But I'm starving. So what better item to eat than a slider? It's the perfect size. 2 guys working inside and 1 guy taking orders and money. Things seemed pretty well organized but there was a bit of waiting involved. Not bad though for made-to-order food items. The slider was only 5 bucks, keeping the hole in my wallet away. Next time, I'm planning to try the Teriyaki Chicken slider because it has pineapples- and I love pineapples in foods! Ps. Very fattening so if you're counting calories, this probably is NOT for you. But they do have "healthier" options like Black Bean Sliders. But if I'm gonna feed myself after a run, I'm certainly gonna go for a greasy brat. :D read more

Slideways came to my office at lunch, and now I wish I had eaten the ramen I have at my desk for a quick meal instead. The food was just not good. They serve sliders and fries. I ordered the Bacon and Bleu slider and the Mac and Cheese slider along with an order of fries, and I have issues with every item. The Bacon and Bleu burger had overcooked bacon and a glob of what seemed like bleu cheese dressing on it. It also had some sort of orange cheese (either cheddar or American) which really took away from the bleu cheese and bacon. The Mac and Cheese burger was even worse though. It had what can only be described as a hockey puck of fried (burnt) Mac and Cheese on it. It had the shape, density and hardness of a hockey puck. The fries were the worst part though. They were soggy and many were not cooked all the way. They had an overwhelming taste of onion and garlic powder that I haven't been able to get out of my mouth after an entire pack of mints. I will not be eating here again if they come back to my office. read more

Found this truck/cart at the Hardywood Thursday event. Everything is made to order. Tried the blue cheese and the Mac'n cheese sliders with freshly cut fries. Both were fabulous, but a slight nod goes to the mac n cheese. Trying the Thai chile and Hawaiian chicken next time. The amazing thing was the burgers stayed hot. We had Slideways show up for our office this Friday(Feb 6). They were here early and had everything set up and ready by 11:00. They had to two guys on the truck, one working the grill and one taking orders/making fries. The orders were coming at them fast but the kept up pretty well. The wait got a little longer after the first hour and word got out(maybe 10 minutes or so) They came well prepared with plenty of supplies, they only ran out of one item. Now for the food. The fries were very good. They were well cooked and seasoned with salt, pepper and light garlic. Please be aware that they give you PLENTY of them so come hungry. The sliders are bigger than average and come with buttered and grilled buns. I had one All American beef slider and one Teriyaki chicken. The All American was good, about average. It was well done and seasoned nicely. the cheese was real cheddar and the beef patty was good quality. The Teriyaki chicken was excellent. The chicken breast was tender and well done. The Teriyaki sauce was good but not overpowering. It came topped with a pineapple which married perfectly with the Teriyaki. Everyone at my building seemed to agree that it was a good value. 2 sliders of your choice and large fries for $10.00. If the quality is this good next time I would eat with them again. I asked Slideways to come to our office to serve lunch to our employees. This was the first time we had a food truck at the office and being that I was in charge of getting it together I was nervous about how it was going to turn out. I was worried for no reason. The communication was great, they provided accurate information and the food/service was AMAZING! We get an hour for lunch which can go by very quick when you have to leave the office to purchase lunch. I'd say the average wait time was 5 minutes. The best part was everyone LOVED IT!! They have already asked that we have them back. The quality of the food and service is top notch. read more

After trying Slideways one day when they were at Blue Bee Cidery (and loved it), we were looking for a food truck to come park in front of our house and cater for a party we were hosting. They were absolutely fantastic! The food was amazing (guests were raving the whole time and afterward) and the service was awesome too. It was reasonably priced (I feel like I wouldn't paid the same to buy a ton of pre-made food or to get catering delivered.) And the best part was there was no set up or clean up for me!
