at least spell it right if you're gonna mock me.
Kathleen D.

I stopped by the Curbside Creations truck during the Folk Festival a couple weeks back. It was Saturday night probably around 8 p.m., so they had a full day of serving the crowds already. The line was quite long and they did a good job of moving people along. One guy was walking through the line taking orders, which would've been more helpful if they had printed menus to review. I had seen their menu elsewhere previously and knew I wanted to try the chicken sandwich, but didn't know the particulars of it. I ordered it when he stopped by. When I reached the front, I specified no tomatoes on the sandwich, so the guy taking orders up there wrote my ticket as "girl who loves tomatoes." It just seemed like a fairly weird and rude thing to write when he didn't know me or why I requested none. In this case, I just don't like tomatoes and wish they weren't always on everything all the darn time. But peppers? Get super sick each time I try them. Food sensitivities are a thing. With tip, my sandwich was somewhere around $12. It was good, yes, but $12-good? Probably not. If it's a double-digit sandwich, I think it should come with a side. That goes for any restaurant, food truck, etc. I didn't get the best first impression from this truck, but I'm not against trying them again in the future on a less busy day. I'll just try to order an item that makes more sense economically.

Shrimp Po Boy, Catfish Po Boy, and Crab Balls w/ Dipping Sauce.

Man oh man, their food was awesome. So good that I'm writing a review less than an hour later. The Po Boys are made perfectly and served looking just as good as they taste. The crab balls make you want to indulge, not to mention the dipping sauce it is served with...Sooo delicious!! Definitely would travel to get food from this truck, it's worth every penny.

Alligator Po ' boy

I had a chance to try out Curbside at Food Truck Wednesdays at the county complex near Mimms Loop. I had to go with the alligator po'boy sandwich when I spotted it on the menu. I really got a fair share of alligator! The po'boy came with lettuce, tomatoes and chipotle sauce. The sauce was a bit too spicy for me, but it wasn't anything some tartar sauce couldn't fix. I loved that the pieces had a fish like consistency for some of the bites, and a chicken consistency for others. I'm just a sucker for all things alligator since I don't get to have it too often and it tastes great. My lunch went with a couple of hot dogs from this truck and enjoyed them just as well!

These guys are amazing

Just had a Philly Steak and it was amazing... cooked perfectly... and the bun was very soft and absolutely delicious... so glad they came to Hickory Creek today... you have to find where they're going next and try them out!

Visited this food truck last night at the Hardywood Thursday night Food Truck Event. I had never tried this food truck before but they had plenty of options and seemed reasonably priced. I got the chicken tenders and fries basket and my BF got the shrimp boy boy and some how our total was $19 which seemed a bit steep to me for chicken tenders, fries and a sandwich - the po boy didn't even come with fries. The BF said the sandwich was good (was missing cole slaw though) and I was really happy with the chicken tenders but the fries were kind of lame, not much flavor and thin/crunchy ones. RVA does food trucks really well, so that is why I only gave them 3 stars. There was nothing paticurlarly wrong with our food, just better options out there!

Crab balls

My first experience with this food truck was at an outdoor wedding. The food was great, I had a choice between a BBQ slider, bacon/cheeses fries or crab balls. I chose the crab balls and they were yummy.. Piping hot with a spicy sauce on the side. They were so good I wanted more but there was a limit at the wedding so I had to settle for one serviing. I look forward to the next time I see them so I can have more!

Prior to being diagnosed with Celiac (can't eat wheat (gluten)), one of my guilty pleasures was…read moregetting food from Food Trucks. It's one of those culinary grab bags where you never quite know if what you're eating is fresh, pre-prepared, good, bad, the best thing you've ever eaten, or hardly palatable. And it comes out of a vehicle. It's a weird experience that I 100% support. --Food: Every so often you come across a place where everything naturally gluten free, like 1 Smokery Pl., which is awesome news for me. I've been here a couple times and really have enjoyed everything! - Ghost Bites with Pork Belly: These are awesome! They're not really as hot as the name would make it sound, but they have a bit of a kick to them. The potato croquettes are absolutely amazing. I don't know how a potato croquette can be this tasty, but they're easily the star of the dish. They're crispy, seasoned impeccably, and have the most smooth and satisfying inside. The pork belly was good too, but really the potato and accompanying sauces are the real deal. - Smoked Chicken Nachos: Also really enjoyed these. Unlike the potato bites above, everything was more or less expected in these. That's not to say they're bad at all, because they're not, they're very tasty, but if you have in your mind what Smoked Chicken Nachos would taste like, you pretty much nailed it. - BBQ Bites: My fiancée got these and also really enjoyed them. The potatoes again were the center of discussion. --Cost: Well worth it and definitely in line with your average food truck prices. Most items are about $10, some the steak or fish being a little more. --Service: Staff is super nice. It's cook to order so you wait about 10/15 min for food. (like most Food Trucks). --Overall: Anyone that likes any of the descriptions of these items should check out 1 Smokery Pl., food allergies or not, as this is truly a great truck. If there was one downside it's that there seems to be an inconsistent schedule and finding them on any given day near you might be challenging. Other than that, easy 5 star for me.

A solid overall food truck that puts a twist on your traditional smoked offerings…read more The folks who operate it are friendly. The portions are filling. I ordered the smoked pork belly bites to start. This portion was pretty good, but I thought it lacked a Smokey punch I was looking for. I finished with the Smokey tomato gazpacho. This was the real winner, amazing really. Smokey, a little spice, cool and refreshing, sweet, etc. The menu items were fun, but id love to see some traditional options as well (pulled pork, brisket, etc.).

Theirs is now one of my favorites. It is so incredibly flavorful, and the combo of the spicy and creamy sauces they put on top are the icing on the cake! I love a good and spicy sisig, but I was not so sure about things when I saw hot sauce, as opposed to fresh peppers, but WOW! The textural variety with the crunchy, tender, and creamy elements take this sisig to beyond the stratosphere! The sisig wasn't the type that had a dominant tangy not, which is what I typically prefer, but solidly a tie for my absolute favorite sisig! Other worldly good! The sisig wasn't the type that had a dominant tangy not, which is what I typically prefer, but solidly a tie for my absolute favorite sisig! I'm so glad I tried Kuya's, and thank you to the other customer who encouraged me to bite the bullet and try their food. I can't wait to try their lechón! The only negative for me is the lumpia. My son was not a fan at all, and he loves egg rolls from different countries. He didn't like that they don't pre-cook the filling, which means it's all in one big piece (though definitely fully cooked, for those not familiar with the process), and he said he didn't like the flavor or texture at all. Somehow, the filling came out as he bit into it, sliding out of the shell. That was not something I was used to because I've done me egg rolls with raw meat before too, and the texture wasn't like that. The sisig was so amazing thought that it's still a very solid 5 starts for me. Hopefully, they'll do some reworking of the lumpia recipe and technique. I highly recommend checking them out as soon as you can! Thank you, Kuya's Kusina, for some unforgettably delicious eats!
