If you love ice cream and good time, this is the place for you! First you begin by choosing your base flavor and toppings. They have so many options that it allows you to be creative. Next you make your ice cream. While it's cooling, you decorate your pint container and they give you wine and a flight of ice cream. The owner is very sweet and friendly, he goes above and beyond to ensure you have a great time! I highly recommend the experience!!

I attended the Create Your Own Flavor workshop. It was over 2 hours long since you make the ice cream from scratch and have to allow time for it to churn. An instructor walks you through each step of the process. The workshop is meant to be done in pairs and you select your seat when booking. You and your partner need to agree on a base flavor of vanilla, chocolate, or peanut butter. Then individually you can customize your three add-ins. The end result was delicious and very rich. During the downtime, there are markers to decorate pints, and complimentary samples, an ice cream flight, and an alcoholic beverage. I did feel it was a bit pricey (~$55 per person) but it is a great date night option!

We loved our ice cream making experience! Our class wasn't crowded so we could spread out. The staff were super informative and attentive! Our base was vanilla which was delicious. The staff also spoke highly of the chocolate base so next time I think we will try chocolate! They were out of quite a few add-ins the day we went so I hope next time they will have them all. I would definitely try this place again and loved all the samples we received while making the ice cream!

Even though it wasn't "sundae," we drove down a "rocky road" to "chill out". Keep reading for the "inside scoop" on how me and my partner-in-cream found our soft spot for soft serve. Sweet Wynns is a DIY, ice cream workshop. Each staff member we met was bubbly and helpful. During the 2-hour experience, you choose a base, do a lot of stirring, play ice cream trivia, whisk, taste test, stir, taste more, laugh, whisk, drink wine (21+) and play table games during the freezing process. You get to choose your add-ins and take home your creation. Check out their Instagram page for a chance to receive a discount code. This experience is great for older kids, teens and young at heart folk. Oh! Don't forget to eat what can't fit in your container; it's legendairy!

Came here for a day with one of my friends and we loved it! We did the ice cream lab experience and had so much fun creating our own ice cream flavors. I loved how the staff would give us instructions, and then give us space to complete the steps on our own. It felt helpful without feeling too overbearing, however I knew if I needed help or had any questions I could get their attention when they walked by and they would help out! I also loved that while waiting for our ice cream to churn, we were given wine and a little ice cream flight sample! It was a nice touch! Definitely would recommend to others!

I've been playing to take my nephew here since he turned 5 on July. I love that SW offers discount codes on their Instagram. I signed him up for the kids workshop for $25 (orig $30 w/o $5 code). My nephew was excited to attend until we reached the door. I tried my best to console him and let him know how much fun it would be. We stood outside for 15 minutes in the cold while other parents and kids walked by. Ms. Ashley noticed this and brought out a cookie and candy. She also hugged my nephew and let him know he could color. With a lot of enticing he finally walked in and went straight to coloring. There were 5 kids in total and my nephew was paired with one other girl. I loved how they went over the instructions clearly and slowly. As well as got the kids excited by asking questions. My nephew opened up more and was smiling and having a great time sharing. As the guardian you'll stand next to them and chaperone and assist when needed. While the ice cream is freezing the kids get to pick 2 toppings as mix ins. They also can color, play games and ice their cookies. My favorite part was when they played guess/taste the ingredients with their eyes closed. There was plenty of ice cream to go around, even the parents were able to try some. Ms. Ashley deserves a raise! She was so kind to my nephew and helped to make it a welcoming environment. She made sure he felt included and was engaged. I liked that they offered hot cider and other beverages to the adults. I'd definitely come back for their various adult workshops.

Came here for an evening ice cream workshop with my husband and had the best time. They had a neo soul soundtrack playing in the background which was right up my alley. We made ice cream from scratch and I learned so much. I loved that they offered chocolate, vanilla and peanut butter (my FAVORITE) as the base options. Then my husband and I were able to choose our own mix-ins and each got to take home a pint of our own flavor. Such a fun class and the instructor was so knowledgeable about the origin and evolution of ice cream. Far exceeded my expectations. After bringing our pints home and keeping them in the freezer overnight, the consistency is easy to scoop and the taste is delicious :)

Over the past year, I've been to the Regular Workshop and DIY workshop. Here are my pros and cons. Regular Workshop Pros- Tons of fun in a group setting, very informative and educational, and tons of good ice cream to eat. Cons- Instructor may go faster than you can keep up, price per ticket is pretty costly DIY Workshop Pros- Cheaper tickets, multiple people allowed per ticket and shorter workshop time. Cons- DIY means no guidance on which ice cream add ons pair best with your ice cream. As a result, if you don't know what you're doing, you can waste good quality ice cream by making a mess. Overall- The regular is interesting and fun, however, I think one of the biggest missed opportunities for Sweet Wynns is that they don't have any of their staple ice cream flavors for sale. IMO, they would make a killing if they did. But I would recommend their workshop as a fun activity to take part in.

This is a "make-your-own icecream" workshop in richmond that is so fun! The workshop is very inclusive with tastings of different flavors, creative freedom of add ins, and little complimentary wine glass! The actual ice cream making was very easy to follow from the instructor and just a fun activity altogether to do alongside your partner. While the ice cream is churning, there is time to decorate your pint for your ice cream and socialize so with good company it is an experience worth trying!

I came to Sweet Wynns for a date night and was very impressed with the experience. It is located conveniently in downtown Richmond. Street parking is available, although you may have to walk a few blocks on busy nights. The shop has working tables in the center of the space, some small tables in the front to sit at while waiting between steps. Mixing machines and freezers are located behind the work area. You are provided all supplies needed at your workstation, and are provided by detailed step-by-step instructions from the employee. The employee was very helpful, and explained each piece of equipment and each step clearly. Your first step is to select your ice cream flavor and mix-ins. You are then instructed on how to combine milk, sugar, and other ingredients. Your ice cream then goes into a machine to mix and chill, and is then packaged and put in a blast freezer to set before you are able to take it home. There is some waiting time between steps, but the employees are very good at keeping guests engaged and filling the space. We had some ice cream related trivia, were able to taste samples of some of the shop's signature flavors, and were able to enjoy a complimentary beverage. We were also provided supplies to design our own label and name our ice cream mixture. Overall it was an excellent activity. The shop was clean and comfortable, and everything ran very smoothly. I'd love to come back to try another flavor combination.

Calling this a cooking "class" would be disingenuous…read more I received a coupon for a free class from Mise En Place and purchased another ticket for my wife. We were very excited for a cooking class to learn new recipes that we could cook together. I am a very inexperienced cook and was looking forward to learning on how to cook the meals on the advertisement and leaving feeling confident that I learned something new and could prepare at least one of the dishes. Instead, we showed up and weren't greeted at all. We had to ask another class member how to sign in because the instructor was no where to be found. There was no guidance and the "instructor" (using this term incredibly loosely) told the large group to pick a station and get started. Everyone seemed confused by this but walked around and found a recipe. Every station was lacking ingredients and utensils so we could not complete our tasks without walking around aimlessly looking for the right ingredient or measuring cup, etc. (Again, no guidance from the instructor). About 30 minutes into cooking, the "instructor" told the group of 10+ people to switch to a new station. This wasn't structured at all and people in the class just meandered around and said "I guess I'll do this now. No idea where the last person left off though." My wife and I took over a task preparing Asian Fried Chicken. After following the recipe provided by the "iNsTrUcToR", she came over and said it was still raw and walked away with no further instructions. We immediately used a meat thermometer showing that the internal temp was above 165 degrees and not in fact raw, making me seriously doubt the qualifications of our "iNsTrUcToR". After completing this part of the recipe, we noticed a number of other participants just standing around. My wife asked the instructor "Do you have a task I can complete, something I can help with?" and the instructor simply walked away. After completing the recipes - the food was fine. No complaints about the quality of the food - but this isn't the point of a "cooking CLASS". I spoke with 5/6 of the attendees in this class and they were clearly annoyed with the false advertising and lack of instruction and audibly complained throughout the "class" about having no instruction, no guidance, and learning nothing. (Rightfully so). There were a number of other beginners in the class and they seemed checked out because they had no idea what to do, didn't receive feedback, and there was no structure. The common theme after speaking with the attendees was that they thought this would be an instructional event where you can leave learning something (a new skill, a new recipe, literally anything). The only thing I left with was a few jokes about how terrible this experience was. if this was advertised as 15 people getting together to cook prepared recipes with no guidance, that would be accurate. If you want to cook something new - google it and try it yourself. You'll save $85 and get the same experience.
