Vampire Penguin is such a fun and adorable spot to get yourself a tasty treat!! The flavored shaved ice to the added toppings, we just can't get enough. They have quite a few signature options and a make your own. My husband and I had the dolce de leche and it was elegantly flavored with Vanilla Snow, Banana, Flan Custard, Caramel Sauce, Whipped Cream. My boys had a modified coffee toffee (added more caramel and no whip) and the polar affogato (no chocolate sauce added sprinkles). They both slammed it down. Service was awesome. We had seen that there was a Valentines deal online, but no location listed. Sadly, it was not for this location but the server gave us a coupon for our next visit. Pretty nice!!! Always down for something new! Welp, the shop was truly that......something new! If you enjoyed making snow cream in the winter, this is the spot for you. It wasn't exactly what I thought, but it was good. At points, I thought I paid for flavored water. But the chocolate and nutty toppings saved the day. Low calorie and gluten-free option to ice cream. The service was great, staff friendly and good suggestions. The setup was so cute with the penguins and vampires. They had cute little shirts for babies......very clean! I am really torn between Vampire Penguin (VP) and Sweet Frog (SF). Decisions! Decisions! If I was judging on service, I would have to give it to VP; seating inside: VP; seating outside: SF; decor and theme: VP; but actual choices and choosing the amount: SF. Wow! Dessert without the guilty feeling! This ice was amazing! Took my daughter for the first time today and enjoyed the Peanut butter cup ice. It was delicious! We split a medium and that was more than enough. I loved the atmosphere. There were games and plenty of little places for her to take pictures. There were a couple of groups of teens having dessert and planing uno. Definitely a fun experience for kids of all ages. The only thing that would be neat to add is a chalk board. Awesome place if you like something light and sweet! I'm personally not a fan of desserts that are on the heavier side, I was so ecstatic once this place opened up. Similar to bingsu which is my favorite dessert! Not quite ice cream, the texture is light and airy because of the super finely shaved iced. The menu itself offers so many different varieties for your palate, you are bound to find something you'd like. There is also an option to make your own as well which is what my daughter did (chocolate with chocolate syrup and sprinkles). I had their Halo Halo and it hit the spot! Giving us a taste of Hawaii from miles away here near Richmond, VA! We stumbled upon this shaved ice dessert place and it just opened last week. I am so glad we stopped by! The staff was attentive and we also met the owner. He was kind and friendly and even chatted with us. They have this down to a science. We ordered HALO HALO and s'mores flavors and it was phenomenal! Finished every last scoop of it and all the toppings added on to it. Don't let the toppings intimidate you - the ice and sweetness were well balanced. I almost don't want to review this place because it could become overcrowded but it's great! The shave ice is a delicious and lower-calorie option for a fun dessert, and the atmosphere is the same as any simple and clean ice cream or froyo shop. They have a build-your-own dessert option or menu items with preselected concoctions, and sizes S/M/L. You'll definitely want to go back. The flavors are great-- I've tried the Mexican Candy dessert as well as a built bowl of lychee with strawberry boba, mango fruit, and coconut cream. Fantastic! Tasty tasty Snow! I got the Coffee Toffee snow and my partner got the Dulce de Leche. Not only was it delicious but the presentation was beautiful! Further, the branding? Fantastic. I was very skeptical coming in but my wife and I loved everything we got. She had the mango snow with mango ice cream in the middle , strawberries and strawberry sauce. Definitely not what we were expecting but it was delicious. I got their Affegato it was so good highly recommend if you are looking for a great treat for the family. I wish there were a few larger tables since all of them are made for four and I generally only come with groups of 5 or 6 and we feel bad moving tables, so we just end up all squeezing together after swiping chairs from another table. Haven't ordered the ramen yet and I pretty much forget that part exists until we sit down. I'll still be back every several months when my wallet isn't as judgmental on me dropping $10 per person on a frozen treat.

A wonderful dessert thats sweet and refreshing, but not too filling. The dulce de leche is my favorite of the pre-made flavors, but I love the freedom of the build your own. From standards like chocolate and vanilla with caramel, to floral flavors like lychee and less sweet but no less good taro there's a huge variety to mix and match. An incredibly unique and delicious experience. A dessert unlike anything I've had. The desserts here occupy some space between ice cream and snow cones that has to be eaten to be understood. The staff was very friendly and I would highly recommend it anyone else. read more

The shaved ice concoctions here are really unique. You can even build your own! I really like the Piña Colada one. The inside of this place is so cute too. Definitely will want to take a photo with the neon sign if you visit. read more
