Great place to get a smog done. Of course, no one likes getting a smog done but this place makes it super easy and quick. Just call ahead and let the owner know you'll be coming in! Of course it's first come first serve, so be prepared to wait if there's a car there before you. The owner is super friendly, however the location is super tight with many other shops close by and try not to block the driveway. Only cost me 40 bucks! So happy that " JUST SMOG" is now a star rated shop. I had to cheat on JUST SMOG a few months back and went to another shop to get a star rated smog my honda accord . They were ok, took 2 hrs out of my day and was higher in price. But I found out that he has a star rating now! and brought my truck in to him on a Saturday. Wow what a relief, i don't like taking my vehicles to other shops, WHY? Well once you go to V's shop, you'll never go back. -fast no hassle appointments necessary -honest and competent business -fast in and out no dallying around, smog and roll -his dog is awesome, he's ok....( V is a great guy you'll see.) I'm so sad I actually wasn't able to give this place my business. A Yelp review had mentioned this place does the STAR smog, but it actually does not anymore :( !! The owner was so incredibly nice (not like most other smog places that barely let you finish your sentence before telling you their rate and asking, "so you want appointment?!"). He said apparently, the only reason they lost their STAR credential is because their "fail" rate wasn't high enough. :( Next time I need a regular smog check, I will definitely recommend this place!! read more

Wait was almost non existent. Been coming here for over a few years and every time we go we are out in less than 20min Max. 10min for the smog and 10 mins if you walk elsewhere to waste time or if someone is ahead of you. Kind and courteous, there's never a problem. read more

Just Smog is the place to go! I actually got a smog test today & passed easily. I been going to Just Smog since 05'. This is the first smog shop I brought my BMW 325i to when I was still in H.S. Lim is a great guy & the service is great! The service is super quick and accurate and this is not a shop where he just wants your money, he talks to you & shows you what he is doing and he even have his dog Tyson to keep you company if you don't know much about cars. I have to go back because he wanted to listen to my stereo system (he only got a 10 second preview) but he didn't have time because he had another customer next. I did not come here for a Smog, my brother did. We ended up here because my brother was scammed and tried to be ripped of by another Just Smog 76 Gas Station place in San Leandro on East 14th across from the Subway Sandwhich. Our experience here was great in all regards. The owner was extremely helpful. Very welcoming, nice and one who actually can speak English. He showed us how he would typically check for smog and the process of doing so made me wanting to get my car smog check there. the owner, lim, is an awesome guy. he's an easy going, young asian guy who is very friendly. service was excellent and very quick. he stayed after hours to get my car done. he said he usually takes off at around 5 and i got there at around 530 when he was finishing up another car and he still did my car and was really cool about it. his pit bull, tyson, kept me warm by sitting next to my leg while lim was doing the smog. the dog looks scary but is really friendly. he'll protect you from the thugs around the corner. i had to circle twice to find this place since it's tucked away from view almost. it's right behind the goodwill store. service took 10 minutes but i wouldnt mind if it took longer since it was cool hanging out with the dog. location isnt the best, but the service is excellent and i would recommend this place to anybody. the cost was $40. read more

Went here for my car's first ever smog check. Got to the shop and idled as I waited for a huge delivery truck to move out the way. Another car saw his opportunity and swiped my turn in line when the truck finally moved. Sigh. Hayward. Even with the line-cutter, it only took a short amount of waiting to get my car tested. It took longer to go and get coffee and a sandwich from across the street. Didn't see the infamous dog in all his glory because he was cooped up in a Civic outside the shop. No fuss, no hidden fees; nice guy. Queueing is a bit tricky since the space is quite tight, and often backed up with lots of cars squeezed in there waiting their turn or leaving after getting checked. Also watch carefully for the entrance/driveway, because it's easy to miss imo. read more

I called ahead of time to see how long to get A smog check. they only had 1 car ahead of me and I was able to be seen in under 15 mins. They were very friendly and quickly got me back on the road without any problems. Sign says it should cost about $60 for a smog check but ended up paying $40. Good price in my opinion. Entrances off of A Street 50 yards before the Valero station on the corner and another one down an alley off of Hesperian (if you missed the entrance off of A street) on the other side of the Valero station. I had a good experience getting my van smog tested here. The technician was friendly and it took maybe 15-20 min for my van (vans take longer than cars). I might only suggest one thing: Perhaps my eyes aren't as sharp as they could be, but I did not see a sign that faces you while driving on that side of the street. I started coming to V Lim's father's shop in San Lorenzo for smogs back in 1995 according to my records. Initially came from Oakland due to a coupon in the old Classified Flea Market paper CFM.. Then just continued to bring my 1989 Volvo 740 to his father's shop thru 2004. Always excellent service. But then California began demanding that older cars only be tested at a STAR "Test-Only" station. Fortunately Veasna Lim opened up his Just Smog shop so I was able to stay with having equally excellent service. I initially came for the good price, but now I still drive from Oakland for the great service and professional skill, just like I got with his father. Veasna is also a great trustworthy guy and my wait is never that long. Looks like my Volvo is going to run forever, so I expect to remain a customer of Just Smog for many years to come-- 24 years so far. Wouldn't think of going anywhere else for my smog. read more

My boyfriend takes his beat up Dodge Colt (with almost 200k miles) there, and it always passes. My Focus, with 145k on it, passed yesterday. When I got there were a few cars ahead of me so the owner suggested I come back in 45 minutes. (I don't think he is typically that busy), as I had gotten in right away when I took my boyfriend's Mustang there last summer). Anyway, I thought that was especially considerate of him to let me know. It gave me some time to run another errand. When I got back there was one person in front of me. Once my car was in the bay, I was out of there in less than 10 minutes and that included paperwork. He typically closes at 5 but he stayed open (til at least 5:30) to make sure all his customers were served.
