The smog test was about 10 minutes even if they said 20 and it was all good really quick and they were very nice. The location is convenient and fast if it's on your way to work / going home. There was no line I came at around 9:26 and was out 9:38. This place is pretty transparent with their pricing and they have it published on the wall. 100% recommend. read more

Came in for Smog check. I didn't realize the check will fail if the check engine light is on, which it was. I think the person working also didn't notice and went through the entire process which took 15mins. The test failed, lol. He patiently explained to me why it failed and what needs to be fixed. Asked me to get it fixed, drive 100 miles and come back again. Didn't charge me a dime! Will definitely go back once I get the check engine light fixed. read more

I messaged them on Yelp to find their price, and they responded promptly. They told me to do a Yelp check-in so I could only pay $50 and go anytime during their business hours. The smog test was quick. I waited only 15 minutes, and the staff told me my car was ready. I showed him the message I received from them, and he honored it. He told me there was a fee if I paid with a card, so I opted to pay cash instead. I only paid $50, which was cheaper than other places. I will come back to do my future smog checks. read more

After multiple visits and consistent issues, I feel compelled to share my honest experience with MT Smog Check, despite the abundance of positive reviews ! My initial visit was confusing and costly. I was charged the full price including a certificate fee, despite the smog test not passing. I didn't realize this was incorrect until a friend mentioned that the certificate fee should not be applied if the test fails A few days later, I returned for a retest, hoping for a better outcome. To my disappointment, not only was I charged again, but they also continued to insist on cash payments to avoid a 3% credit card fee, which seemed like a tactic to avoid leaving a paper trail of the transaction. Unfortunately, the retest was also unsuccessful Frustrated, I decided to visit another smog check facility nearby within 10 minutes, where I followed my mechanic's advice to ensure my vehicle would pass. Thankfully, this other facility conducted the test and my vehicle passed without any issues This experience leads me to believe that the practices at MT Smog Check may not be entirely straightforward. For anyone considering this facility, I recommend exploring other options or being very cautious about the fees charged, especially if your vehicle fails the initial test read more

Hi guys, I found a great and unbeatable deal and excellent service: Today I shopped for star smog check for my 1997 Honda Accord 4 cylinder car. I called about one dozen star certified shops in Fremont and Newark in 94538 zip area and the quote I got varied from $50 to $70, that is for test and DMV certificate fee included (total out of the door price). I read about the deal for the MT smog test station. There are two of this, one in SAN Jose and the other in Newark. I called the Newark station at 38592 in Cedar Blvd. and Tom Truong, the owner and the tech picked up the phone and quoted $50. When I mentioned the Yelp deal of $40 that others used to get from this station, he gladly accepted the offer. I went there and he recognized me as soon as I reached his shop. The test was done in 10 minutes, all the info I typed on his iPad. I paid the stated amount and he gladly accepted. He sent the report immediately to the DMV. I wanted to give six stars but five is the maximum! read more

I took my mom's car in without an appointment. There was one customer ahead of me, but someone took my paperwork right away and invited me to sit in their waiting room. I probably only waited 20 minutes before the car was done. The technician gave me all of the paperwork and told me the test results would be sent directly to the DMV. I know the drill, but appreciate that he took the time to explain it. I used a voucher from yelp for a discount, which was honored without question. This was a very easy place to go for this service. I'll use them again and recommend their business. read more

Called a few places to do diesel smogging and all are charging an arm and a leg. What I don't get are these new TDI are so efficient that it shouldn't be smogged. Anyway. As soon as I arrived, I asked Mr. Doug, the manager, how long I would have to wait for my turn. He told me only about five minutes and that the entire process would take approximately ten minutes. He was right! In less than five minutes, it was already my turn. Mr. Daniel was the service technician who inspected my car, and I had a wonderful experience with him. I asked him quite a few questions, and he graciously took the time to answer all of them. He was professional, knowledgeable, patient, and thorough in doing the inspection. Thank GOD, my Nissan passed the smog inspection! What impressed me even more was that Mr. Daniel went beyond what I had come there for. He checked the air pressure in my tires and noticed that some of them needed more air, so he took the time to add air to them. He certainly did not have to do that, and I really appreciated the extra care. I also had questions about something I had previously been told regarding my check-engine light, and Mr. Doug took the time to explain it to me in a way that helped me better understand what was going on with my car. It is always nice to come across people who take the time to be helpful and kind while doing their job well. I left K1 Smog very pleased with my experience and will gladly return when it is time for my next smog inspection.
