This place is awesome! Quick turnaround. Fast, convenient and at a price that is totally awesome.

Scammer! You are warned! They have a Groupon for smok check for $38, and stated that only large SUV costs extra. Bought it and went there. This guy told me $40 more as I have a MBZ GLC. Returned this Groupon and got another one in Hayward. The smok check is $38+ certificate. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ANY COST! read more

Very straightforward smog check experience, nice professional staff. 15 min and done. Plenty of parking nearby, small seating area in the adjacent main (tire) shop. Used a Groupon; the only gripe is that offer clearly lists a $20 surcharge for vans / trucks / SUVs, but it's only in the smallprint way below that they list additional surcharges for luxury and hybrid vehicles. read more

Phong was professional, fast, friendly and courteous. Great service. He gave me info to register my out of state vehicle. I will be coming back to smog my other vehicle. Thanks read more

Don't go here if you use Groupon. We paid $25+ to Groupon and our smog check test failed. He charged us $30 for the failed test and will not honor a re-test for free. Other places I've been to will do re-test for free but not this place. He said we will have to buy another Groupon and pay him another $38 for re-test ($58+). He also did not explain why our test failed and just told us to fix it. Not very friendly nor helpful. We are already out of $55+ for the first failed test and expect to pay another $58+ to go back to him for re-test. HELL NO! read more

I was in need of a smog check for my car, so I went on Groupon and found this spot. The price was unbeatable! I called to see if an appointment was needed, but it wasn't. This worked out platter for me since I wasn't sure what time I was going to get there. This location was a bit far from my home, but I didn't mind the scenic drive. I arrived in the afternoon and was immediately serviced. I showed him the Groupon, and he took less than 15 min to complete it. I paid for the certificate (less than $10) and was out the door. This was the best smog check that I've ever experienced. I would definitely come back in the future. read more

Phong was kind, funny, and just overall pleasant to talk to. We did a walk-in for a smog check, took only about 15-20 minutes. The prices were accurate and clear! 2006 crv was abt $68, I'd say was fair! He was clear with what he was doing. Will be coming back for the next smog check. read more

Thanks for being so quick efficient and helpful! Highly recommend this smog check to anyone! Super affordable!

I've been here twice using the Groupon deal. It's a small place (one stall) nestled between a tire shop and the tire shop's installation bay. The smog shop can only accommodate one car at a time, but the wait on my 2nd visit was short with only 1 car ahead of me. Phung the smog tech was straightforward and very friendly. Good solid guy! He reviewed the additonal fees with me showing no hidden charges as seemingly most people misinterpret what's covered in the Groupon not realizing there are separate fees for the smog certificate. Overall, I was in and out of the shop withn 30-minutes. I would come back here again if they continue to offer Groupon specials. Otherwise, it's a bit of a drive for me as I'm in the next city over. read more

Super efficient, kind, and affordable for a smog check! Check their Groupon. It's the best deal around. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. I would highly recommend coming here. read more

Not only was Fong a great service man that knows what hes doing but had great availability for appointments or maybe even walk-ins!!

Great service. I came in around 9 on a Sunday morning. The staff was very efficient and friendly. They completed my smog check in less than 10 minutes. Their website had a coupon for $29.95. the coupon clearly states that the "Star certified" marker is an additional $10 so I went in assuming my total would be $40 plus tax. I have never tried to get a smog check without the star certification. I suppose someone might want that if they are just checking their car for fun and not for the DMV. I think most places keep it as a separate fee. My total with tax came to $48. This is more than reasonable. The young man working there told me that many customers come in seeing the coupon and get upset when they are told about the star certification fee and taxes. I was very happy with my service. I would definitely recommend this place for a quick smog check. Conveniently done. read more

Fremont Star Smog Check - Smog Check Stations Near Me - Fremont, California

Twice I've gone here for smog. No waiting, great hours, smooth transactions. No issues. Highly recommended. Friendly service and nice waiting area inside. It's a bit of a drive compared to my local smog but maill switch as the price is low and STAR smog certified. read more

Once he found out I have Groupon: First he refused to do the smog check stating that he only accepts Groupons M-F which is not written anywhere after some back and forth he agreed. Second he's like you need the DMV paper to scan which is NOT true - he can enter the info manually, but again he created this barrier and would not proceed with the test. At the end did NOT do the service because he is LAZY and does not want to work. Not sure why even offer Groupon when you don't want to do the work. Not returning here and would not recommend it. read more

I call the Technician. He said: come over please. The Technician is very friendly. The Smog Technician does very good job in 20 minutes. Seeing is Believing read more

Bait & Switch ! these guys are not on rthe up and up. Be careful. Do your homework. Smog coupon say that a Smog Check is $34.95. We I added all of the little nickel & diming they do on top of the $34.94 , i.e. STAR add $10, truck add $10 and with the CERT, the total should be $63.20. Went ther Sat, asked for a price and he said my tryuck, regular 1500 pickup, was going to be $78.00. So why the extar $14.80 In his pocket, I'm sure. Sure wish honesty & ethical business still existed. read more

literally worst smog experience ever, not only was the guy rude but he was also extremely entitled, talked down to me like I was his son or something. He was trying to upcharge me $30 extra on top of the groupon (see 1 star reviews here, similar experience) said my 2009 BMW is a Luxury Vehicle, so he needs to charge extra, and honestly the worst part is the way he was talking to me, made me pull up the groupon page and read it to him, like I was the one doing something wrong. guy needs a serious reality check, smog places are everywhere so I'm not sure why he thinks people need to beg him for a smog test. After I decided not to proceed with him I was sitting in the parking lot and another woman came up to me and told me she had the exact same experience I had and was trying to figure out where to go for smog now since this guy just wasted our time. STAY AWAY edit it looks like the owner actually looks at the yelp page, and based on his profile pic he is not the person who I spoke to so I'm guessing the person who was extremely rude to me and literally lost 2 customers on the spot is an employee, I advise the owner to check on his employees because he is losing customers for him read more

Would not honor their Groupon deal saying that an f-150 is considered a heavy duty truck. Tried to charge me $88 instead of $30 they advertised do yourself a favor and stay away from this place read more

OMG!! I was desperate need cuz I didn't realize I needed a smog to renew. This place was a little hard to find but the service was perfection. It was quick and he was very professional. Definitely if you need a quit smog certificate read more

Very friendly service! Super quick, I was in and out in less than 15 minutes. Walk into the tire store and there's a little window on the right next to a sign that says smog check, where you talk to the receptionist. Groupon also made the smog check price super cheap! read more

Dude was really busy but I waited and he got me in 45 min later and I passed :) so over good price and service was dope

In and out in with less than 15 minutes waiting time. Check coupons (read the fine print) for discounts

I went for smog check today. They asked me extra 18.25 for the XUV. I am ok with it. But I don't know what the technician person did in my car during smog check. My Car battery was dead after coming from shop. I did not have a problem before. during his process he did something wrong and my car battery was suddenly dead. I did called the AAA and replaced the new one. I don't think that person even interested to do the job. he is hitting my car here and there. I was sitting in tire shop beside the smog check center but able to hear everything. I will never go this place again. read more

A big shoutout to Phong at Fremont Star Smog Check! First time going to a STAR station, and the smog check was done in like 15 minutes -- on a Saturday morning! Super cool of him to let me know about a recall notice on my car too. I appreciate Phong's excellent service. Many thanks, I'll definitely be back! read more

The clerk who assisted me was so rude and impatient. He yelled at me tried to insult me. I will not go back again to that place and would not recommend that place for that kind of attitude. read more

It was a very quick and easy service. 15 minutes in and out! The man was very nice and courteous. Would recommend to anyone looking for a star smog check and/or smog check. + People are giving bad reviews for not reading fine print. I do not think that is fair to the business/owner. read more

I asked for a quote with the coupon. I have a SUV. He said its 49.75. Would not honor the coupon. It would have been 40.00. I said whatever, I just wanted it done. It didnt pass smog. The website says you have 90 days for a free retest. Tester guy said it would be 20 dollars more to retest and entered it in the notes section of the computer. So It should have been 40 dollars with free retest. And Now Its 49.00 with 20 dollar retest. So I basically am being over charged 30 bucks with a bad attitude. Asian guy has a terrible attitude and is trying to get as much money from you as he can. I asked owner question if there are free re-test after 90 days per website. He keeps deleting my question. If I am charged after retest I will report to BBB. read more

Bought coupons from Groupon twice. The first time I was told that the coupon is for sedan only (which is not stated on the coupon) and that I need to pay $40 more for minivan. The second time my in-law went there with a sedan but still got charged the full price of $60. My in-law doesn't speak English but I'm pretty sure he presented both the coupon and the DMV notice. The technician didn't write on the coupon why it's not accepted. We chose this place because it's the closest star smog check station. read more

I arrived first thing on a Friday, 8am and was out in less than 10 minutes. $40 for a car, paid with Visa (not sure about MC).

Friendly and fast service with reasonable price. This is my second time coming back. Will come back again.

Smog check was easy, and quick! 3 stars because the technician was visibly not happy when, after initially telling me it would cost $68, I pointed out that Yelp says '$45 for 2012 and newer'. He made me show him the Yelp page, which I did, to which he did not respond but walked away to continue inputting information into the system to service us. read more

I had a bad experience here. I called in to ask about smog checks and was wondering if they were star certified. The gentleman who answered was very rude !
