I needed to renew my DMV registration and was required to take my Nissan to a STAR-certified smog station. I found K1 Smog through Yelp and was very happy to see that they offered a Yelp discount, which I really appreciated. As soon as I arrived, I asked Mr. Doug, the manager, how long I would have to wait for my turn. He told me only about five minutes and that the entire process would take approximately ten minutes. He was right! In less than five minutes, it was already my turn. Mr. Daniel was the service technician who inspected my car, and I had a wonderful experience with him. I asked him quite a few questions, and he graciously took the time to answer all of them. He was professional, knowledgeable, patient, and thorough in doing the inspection. Thank GOD, my Nissan passed the smog inspection! What impressed me even more was that Mr. Daniel went beyond what I had come there for. He checked the air pressure in my tires and noticed that some of them needed more air, so he took the time to add air to them. He certainly did not have to do that, and I really appreciated the extra care. I also had questions about something I had previously been told regarding my check-engine light, and Mr. Doug took the time to explain it to me in a way that helped me better understand what was going on with my car. It is always nice to come across people who take the time to be helpful and kind while doing their job well. I left K1 Smog very pleased with my experience and will gladly return when it is time for my next smog inspection. read more

One of the only places I know of in the Hayward area that smogs cars 1995 and older. The smog equipment for 1999 and older requires a roller. For 1995 and older you need evap equipment... this is the only place I checked that had both. It is next to a tire shop and there are some food places neighboring - that is great for waiting and convenience. They two guys working here are very pleasant and love cars. I like that. I had a new cat put in and my truck passed with almost all zeros. If your cat is old keep it hot. Let it idle before you get it tested. Take it on the highway for 20 minutes before you come. read more

K1 Smog - My car they smogged and passed first time. - Smog Check Stations Near Me - Hayward, California

I was putting off going into get my smog test done because I'm intimidated of these places. I showed up without an appointment midday and they let me know I would be next. Waited about 5 minutes and then was called to drive in. They were kind, easy to talk to, and I was out of there in about 10 minutes TOTAL!!! Daniel let me know he'd sent notification to DMV and have me a copy as well. 10/10 recommend! Just as a heads up, the smog testing is on the far left side, not the tire replacement shop. read more

Car is now 8 years old and needed its first smog check. My car guy recommended K1 smog. So I did what I always do, looked it up on Yelp. It's no fluke when a place has 5 stars out of 135 reviews. The business does exactly what it's supposed to, a quick and efficient smog place. I walk in , I'm told there are 2 cars ahead of me. I wait, my turn comes. DJ the smog guy checks my car, it passes smog, then I pay, he tells me what happens next with the DMV, and I'm outta there! Cost me $55, a good deal. Yeah I took a couple pics just for you guys. read more

They nice people and they nice and fast will have you in and out in no time great place

Was really happy I found this place. I was honestly trying to find a smog place where I didn't have to pay $75, which is what I've been paying for for the last couple of years. So I found this smog place, and they had a coupon online, so I only ended up paying $40 for my smog with a certificate. My smog took about 10-15 minutes, if that. Parking can be a little challenging, but they do block off parking spots for folks getting smog. They do have a waiting area inside, which is pretty nice and very accommodating. All in all a great smog place and very cheap as well. read more

Over the last few years, I've been taking my cars to K1 smog and have nothing but great things to say. The owner, DJ, is a car enthusiast and treats my older cars with care and respect. I always call ahead to confirm his availability. Do note that he may not pick up the phone if he's in the middle of a job. Added bonus: his mom makes amazing picked onions, which you can buy at the shop and spice up every meal! read more

A very quick service. No wait time today which was great. Awesome price using Yelp check in.

Awesome smog Place! Excellent service! Always my number one recommendation! The price value is on point!

Got a $45 quote from a Doug J through Yelp so I drove to the shop which was a little difficult to find as they have no office. Spoke to Daniel and when I tried to explain my situation he said I was "saying too much" and to just say "I need a smog check". Told him I was making sure they honored the quote but he didn't believe me and wanted to see so I showed him Yelp. The smog check didn't happen and he told my to take my car but he did not latch my hood and I only realized as I was driving down mission when I picked up speed. read more

Good work. Professional. Done in a timely fashion. Place was clean. Waiting area. Friendly staff.

Nice service! I did the Smog Checked second time at the same shop. DJ is super nice. WIll back again.

DJ was friendly, courteous and professional. Took 10 minutes from drive in to drive out. Took me longer to drive here than it did to test lol. I originally went to another spot (competitor), but they were packed and nobody was manning the counter for me to speak to. I'm glad I left and found this one. TLDR Highly recommended business establishment. They're fast, efficient and CHEAP!!! If you want slow service, go elsewhere lol read more

Quick and easy smog. Owner/tech was very friendly. Would highly recommend this place.

Awesome. Friendly. Professional. A place to go to . Thanks Guys... Appreciate ur help. Me and My SUV both are HAPPY

I was in need of a smog check and I found K1 Smog on Yelp, and the ratings / reviews looked promising. They were a bit difficult to find at first, as they are attached to the tire / wheel shop next door, but I am pretty sure they are separately owned. There are a few parking spaces out front for you to wait in for your turn. I called ahead and they take walk-ins / first come, first serve - I arrived on a weekday afternoon and I was 3rd in line. D.J., the technician (I believe he is the owner as well) was working on / finishing up on the 1st car and gave me about a 20ish minutes estimate. The 2nd car was getting checked and after awhile, the owner of that vehicle decided not to go through with it because her engine light was on. Anyway, I was helped in a little over 15 minutes, so the wait was not too bad. I pulled in the garage, sat down on some of the loungers he had against the wall, signed a form, and he got to work. He let me know it will take about 10 minutes, but he was done within 5 - 8 minutes, so I happily paid and was on my way. There was a check-in offer, which I did not take advantage of, as I feel like he was a small business, so it was about $56. Overall, D.J. was efficient; friendly; and quick - I highly recommend him, as he made this errand I had to do so much easier. read more
