This was my first time getting Smog test done as dmv sent out a letter for registration. I put in a request on Yelp and they responded in like 5 minutes. I was asked to purchase the service online and carry the confirmation email to any of the locations they have. Hayward was the closest and they were open on Sunday too. Their price is reasonable and they are star certified which means that you carry the dmv letter with the barcode and they would scan it and send the smog test certificate directly to DMV. They took about 30 mins and job well done. Instead of taking the coupon and doing the payment online, go to the location and they give the same price. read more

Usually shops just tell whats needed without showing anything. My car is clean and well taken care of so it was good to see that they also took care of it how i do. Very rude guy! He didn't even tell me if the car really passed or not. It says in the printout it passed but all of sudden when I contacted DMV they told me that it failed. I took my car in for a smog check yesterday just after 5PM without an appointment. Bay Smog's posted hours ended at 5 but the owner said it was no problem. The man who did my test I believe was the owner was very friendly and informative. He made the entire procedure painless. Actually I went to other smog first and my car was failed due to gas cap and other place told me that I have to pay again after fixing it. I brought my truck, a Ford F150 with a cabover camper in for a smog test today and was told by the owner that a new law required me to remove the camper before the truck could be tested. I called the Bureau of Automotive Repair to ask if this was true and the man I talked to laughed and told me there was no such law. I brought the truck to another shop and they smogged it with no problem, also telling me there was no such law. I'd had my truck (with the camper on it) smogged at Bay Smog numerous times before with no problems. read more

First of all, let me say I never had a problem getting my car to pass smog, no problem. Until I came here. Don't ever go to this smog place, the owner there is a scam artist. He talks more than he works. He tried to say my hoses were not connected and I pay close attention to detail to my car (it's my baby) and I know my car like the back of my hand and those hoses before I took them in were connected, it failed because of "visual smoke" (wtf) he didn't even warm up the car just started it and performed the test, but passed emissions and functional check and as soon as I put the tiny hose back the car didn't smoke. He obviously tried to scam me. And I go to the dmv and they gave me my tags anyway and tell me to go back and get my money back because they cannot charge you if you fail and he refuses to give me my money back. And he kept talking took him and hour and half to do my smog check and there were no other customers I should've taken that as warning. Stay away from this place read more
