I would like to share my experience with Bay Smog, and unfortunately, due to my busy schedule, this review is long overdue! I visited Bay Smog on July 28, 2026, and had such a pleasant experience. No appointment was required, and I was in and out in less than 15 minutes. The two gentlemen in the office were very cordial, friendly, and truly customer-service oriented. I normally go to Instalube on Winton for most of my oil changes, and while I was on my way there, I thought, "Why not give Bay Smog a try since it's so close to my home?" I'm so glad I did! I was truly impressed with the service and will definitely be coming here moving forward. Thanks, guys, for such a great experience. You've earned a lifelong customer! read more

Quick and easy; open on Sundays and I used the discount coupon on their website to get $20 off.

I used Bay Smog the last couple of times because they are open for business on weekends. It's very convenient for me.

Quick and friendly smog place. Gentlemen helped me as soon as I parked and walked inside. Nice seatings inside. Clean enough and the place stayed busy too. Thats a good thing! It means locals there knew whats up! Took maybe less than 15 minutes and I was done. Yay! I love it. Will be back when I need another smog test done. read more

The older Korean owner is very nice. He completed the smog check in less than 30 minutes. He's really funny and enjoys sharing stories about his life and experiences. Bay Smog is one of the few smog check shops that's open on Sundays. read more

Quick and friendly. Don't forget to use their online coupon on their main website. Highly Recommend.

They were awesome! Got my registration renewed, changed my truck to my name instead of my dads. They couldn't do my trucks smog for some reason (they attempted three times) and they explained it but I forgot, but they didn't charge me for their time! I will definitely be coming back and recommending this place. read more

Bay Smog - The Manager is Top Notch - Smog Check Stations Near Me - Hayward, California

This was my first time getting Smog test done as dmv sent out a letter for registration. I put in a request on Yelp and they responded in like 5 minutes. I was asked to purchase the service online and carry the confirmation email to any of the locations they have. Hayward was the closest and they were open on Sunday too. Their price is reasonable and they are star certified which means that you carry the dmv letter with the barcode and they would scan it and send the smog test certificate directly to DMV. They took about 30 mins and job well done. Instead of taking the coupon and doing the payment online, go to the location and they give the same price. read more

I had my ZL1 looked over to make sure everything was good with the car. They looked it over and explained everything it needed and showed me everything that was getting worn out. Usually shops just tell whats needed without showing anything. My car is clean and well taken care of so it was good to see that they also took care of it how i do. Quality of work was great and great value for the work. Definitely recommend them as a smog shop and if you have any problems with your car to get it worked on! read more

Very rude guy! He didn't even tell me if the car really passed or not. It says in the printout it passed but all of sudden when I contacted DMV they told me that it failed. No wonder registration sticker is not coming. I don't recommend this shop , go somewhere else & charge too much. $78 for a regular smog check read more

I took my car in for a smog check yesterday just after 5PM without an appointment. Bay Smog's posted hours ended at 5 but the owner said it was no problem. The man who did my test I believe was the owner was very friendly and informative. He made the entire procedure painless. The car before mine didn't pass and he took the time to explain to the owner exactly why it didn't pass and what needed to be done. read more

I brought my 3 cars to Bay Smog last 10 years and I have never had a problem and price is better than other smog places in Hayward. Actually I went to other smog first and my car was failed due to gas cap and other place told me that I have to pay again after fixing it. I went to Bay Smog and he puts new cap and make it work right away. Bay smog was much honest than other place I went. read more

These guys are great! They know smog! I have been there many times and had to review it. I was really concerned about my car having a tough time. They will try the best they can to pass! Very helpful and knowledgable smog place! Some other places just smog and try to give you the boot! I highly reccomend this place. They know what they are doing! read more

I brought my truck, a Ford F150 with a cabover camper in for a smog test today and was told by the owner that a new law required me to remove the camper before the truck could be tested. I called the Bureau of Automotive Repair to ask if this was true and the man I talked to laughed and told me there was no such law. I brought the truck to another shop and they smogged it with no problem, also telling me there was no such law. I'd had my truck (with the camper on it) smogged at Bay Smog numerous times before with no problems. read more

First of all, let me say I never had a problem getting my car to pass smog, no problem. Until I came here. Don't ever go to this smog place, the owner there is a scam artist. He talks more than he works. He tried to say my hoses were not connected and I pay close attention to detail to my car (it's my baby) and I know my car like the back of my hand and those hoses before I took them in were connected, it failed because of "visual smoke" (wtf) he didn't even warm up the car just started it and performed the test, but passed emissions and functional check and as soon as I put the tiny hose back the car didn't smoke. He obviously tried to scam me. And I go to the dmv and they gave me my tags anyway and tell me to go back and get my money back because they cannot charge you if you fail and he refuses to give me my money back. And he kept talking took him and hour and half to do my smog check and there were no other customers I should've taken that as warning. Stay away from this place read more
