OK YELPERS - I went in today after reading all the reviews and I didn't expect them to tell me what I would need to buy BEFORE they ran the test....DUH this is a TEST ONLY station. I know they run it and it either passes or fails. Unlike the long review from the lady who failed because of her gas cap and expected them to break the law.....lol... what planet is this chic from? The lady who answers the phone is really nice and straight forward when I asked how much it would cost before going there she told me normally 59.00 less 10.00 coupon but I mention YELP and its 40.00 no matter what year. I guess the older cars take an EVAP test unlike the new cars. Got there and spent about 30 minutes (I wasn't the only customer there) The technician guy doesn't talk much, but who can blame him? He is busy taking care of business! Either way I got there and sat in the waiting room and when my car was done 1995 Honda Accord only 40.00 for mentioning YELP!!! That was awesome total out the door price...unlike other shops, I called to compare. I am sure your wondering if this review is all becaused I passed, well in all honesty NO I actually failed :( BUT it was a couple of hoses that were torn from most likely a squirrel or rat that got under my car and I went to O'Reileys and got my hands dirty and went back and got it tested again and passed :) Anyhow sorry for my long as@ story but I figured with the last review from that MISSY lady (seriously get real!) This poor hard working crew needed something true and accurate. PS: I didn't mind paying the retest fee of 20 bucks...those guys have to rerun the whole darn test...thats very reasonable. Scam city here we come! I initially thought "there's a 'c' missing," which must mean that they are SO quick that they opted for phonetic efficiency rather than correct spelling. However, after our experience here, it's safe to say that spelling error is the least of their problems. Let's start with the first ineptitude- false advertisement. Quik (irks me to write) Smog promises a discounted smog test if you mention Yelp to reel in unsuspecting customers. Too good to be true? Holy batman, yes! Second and most grave atrocity- they intentionally fail you for minor things, forcing you to return for retest after retest. If we had known that we needed to pay for it, that's fine by us. The location alone (we live nearby) was enough of a perk, but the hassle of the false free smog dance, locking you into the multiple retests, is not worth your money, and the nuisance the whole ordeal costs is certainly not worth your time. You walk away feeling SCAMMED and belittled for it since you fell for the pretense. Finally, we were able to figure out why this place has such glowing reviews on Yelp. The most obvious is the supposed discount through Yelp, so they know people are going to compare reviews, which means they must counteract negative reviews with overrated ones. Many of the superlative posts are incoherent, way too non descriptive, and lack the emotional content of a true positive experience to be authentic. It's so like them to yet again FAKE IT. BE WARNED. I'll stoop to their level of colloquialism and let you know that Quick Smog without a doubt SUCKS. Take your business elsewhere because this place does not deserve your trust! I have been a loyal customer of QUIK SMOG Star-Mountain View for several years, having initially rated it 5 stars due to quick service and pleasant owner. Unfortunately, my recent experiences compel me to revise my rating to 2 stars for a couple of reasons: 1. In the past, I could bring a coupon for a discounted rate, and even last year, the owner, Ravi, said I no longer needed to present it physically as he would remember to honor the price. This changed abruptly last weekend when he insisted that I must show the coupon to receive the discount, contradicting previous assurances. 2. The service demeanor has significantly changed. Ravi, who was once friendly and patient, has become curt and somewhat aggressive. His tone has shifted to being unfriendly, and he rushes through interactions without offering clear answers to questions, a stark contrast to the thorough and considerate service I used to commend. Additionally, the atmosphere during visits has become increasingly uncomfortable. Ravi now makes the process of waiting, parking, and moving the car quite stressful. His approach can be rude and unfriendly, making simple logistics needlessly unpleasant. Previously, I recommended this shop to friends because of its reliable service and the owner's approachable manner. However, due to the recent inconsistency in service and change in interaction, I can no longer recommend them. The quality of customer service is just as important as the service provided, and unfortunately, this establishment no longer meets the standard I expect. read more

I brought in our company van for a smog check and it failed on the visual check. I was told one of the catalytic converters had been removed (this vehicle has two of them installed at the factory). So, now I'm off to the muffler shop where I had part of the exhaust system replaced to ask what happened. The muffler shop did not remove the catalytic converter; the technician at Quik Smog did not use an inspection mirror to look for it, now I have wasted at least three hours on this. Came back to Quik Smog on the following Monday the same technician was working, showed him pictures of the second catalytic converter (that was always there!). He connects my van and then takes off for at least ten minutes, I can see the display monitor stating the test has completed and he is nowhere to be found. During this time, one of the other people waiting in their turn leaves in disgust. Finally he finishes my smog test, he fails to give me back my DMV paperwork and close my hood (I take care of both myself). The technician is disorganized and the shop/office is beyond dirty, it is filthy. I will never come back. 9/14/2016 Update This is interesting, my review is no longer visible. I am shocked about the negative reviews, the crew at this shop were friendly and I can't blame them for following the STATE laws on smog. Thats like asking a cop to give you a free pass lol...you might get lucky but most likely you just get a freakin ticket. I'm not usually one to write a review but every once in a while I feel compelled to share my good experience. I walked in the other day to Quik Smog rushed, frantic, and generally irritated that I needed to take time out of my day to get a smog check. Let's be honest - who actually enjoys getting this done! From the moment I got there, the technician was attentive, knowledgeable, and patient as he walked me through the necessary steps. Once he got to work, it took only about 15 minutes for the whole thing to be completed! I got to sit back and check emails in the waiting room. I genuinely felt a sense of relief sitting there, knowing that I had gotten through this thing I was dreading completely pain-free. A moral noble smog shop! A normal smog is to go just pay and get a piece of paper? No, keep reading. On 7/31/13 I went to Quik Smog. After smog checking the worker named Hector took his time to teach me how to read the problem data and how the white marks on timing should be for my mechanic. On my way home the receptionist Dee called me and asked me to return back. Ken the smog technician found my wallet on the ground. Now, my wallet had lots of cash! When I returned to get my wallet not 1 dollar was missing and I am so grateful for such an honest group of workers. Not only did I learn so much more about smog, I received great service and their morals are outstanding. Been using them for years for test only Smog. Busy today but I was third in line and they got me out in under 40 minutes. First come, no appointments. Used the $10 off coupon and the price was $54.00 in total for a STAR test. They offered to check my tire pressures for $5 ( needed before the dynamo. test ) so do that yourself before you go. Staff was friendly enough, efficient, but they won't fudge any requirements nor should they, but they are cooperative. The tech let me go buy a new gas cap and come back with it instead of just failing my vehicle on the first pass. They are the best I have found in the area. I'll be going back. read more

Had to go through the bi-annual smog check process for my car again (uuggghhh!). Quik Smog was the cheapest in the neighborhood (by a decent amount), and I am always looking for a deal. The service was fast; in and out in under 10 minutes! The technician (Greg) was polite and professional. It was in a larger autozone lot shared by a couple other mechanics, but still easy to find. The waiting room was clean, and had free coffee and soda. Overall no complaints; I'll be back again in two years unless I hit the lotto and get a new Tesla ! read more

I was urgently in need of a smog check to renew my car registration. I sent out a quote request and was pleasantly surprised by Ravi's prompt and fair reply to my Yelp messages. When I arrived at the testing center, I had to wait in line behind two customers, but the wait wasn't too long. As soon as it was my turn, Ravi wasted no time in conducting the smog check with remarkable efficiency, finishing in under five minutes. If you don't have the coupon, just say you talked to Johnny & you'll get the $40 price. Not sure why people felt the need to speak about the waiting room or the personality of the workers. i took my old 1985 Mercedes for a smog check today. Mr. Taran Singh was extremely helpful in getting my car smog checked. Even though he was very busy with at least four people in line at once and all by himself...he was always very courteous and worked hard to help me get my older car taken care of....and passing the test! I strongly recommend this business especially with Mr. Taran Singh working there...I didn't ask him if he owned the business....it he doesn't then even more kudos go out to him. read more

I have been coming to Quik Smog for several years now. Me and my family always had great experience here. Each time, the workers were friendly, funny and very fast with doing the work. It never took longer than 20 minutes total, from the time I walked in the door, until I left with my certificate. The last time I went there I was on my lunch hour, and I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. I still had time to go back to work and enjoy my lunch :-) I highly recommend this location for smog checks. read more

This place has terrible customer service. You would think for the cheap price it would be okay, but then you come to find out that they're just going to fail your smog test so you have to come back. You come in thinking you're saving money, but then you end up wasting your day and spending more. It's annoying and they need to be upfront. I got my car smogged at this place and paid 50 dollars... From what I was told they send notice to the dmv that my car has passed smog inspection. I went to sell my car 3 months later and the dmv told the person it was passed 90 day smog expiration. They never sent anything the dmv and the person who bought my car had to get it resmogged. When I called to ask them about it.. No answer very disappointed. read more

I have been a client for several years of Quik Smog. I will NOT go there again. I had the check done elsewhere for more money but worth every penny and this one actually looked inside the hood to check other things. Quik Smog had an Incompetent operator (5 months on the job) and the office was filthy. No opportunity to pay by credit card (cash only). I totally agree with the Sid P. review. read more
