The headlights took an extra day since the car is a euro and the parts needed to be ordered. The place is busy and full of cars! Definitely go in early or call to see when the best time is to get your service done. I was looking at the low star reviews.... Be realistic with your expectations when bringing in your car. If you have a unique problem, chances are it's going to take longer than you would want it to take to get it fixed. Otherwise just go to the dealer to get it fixed and pay dealer rates/prices. Been coming here since 2017 - mostly for smogs - but also had brake work and suspension work done too. I like this repair shop because I can see its run by a car enthusiast and I've found prices to be fair and work to be done very well. Brake rotor resurfacing was done to perfection and suspension noises gone - the mechanic zeroed in on the problem part so quickly. Came here most recently after visiting a few smog stations in the area. One would accept any more cars that day, another was closed on A st near the 880 highway, and a third didn't have all the equipment ready to smog an older car. Was lucky to pop in during a time with no wait for a smog. I could see other major repair work in progress in the background though. Waiting room was large and comfortable - unusual actually for most smog places. Sink into one of the many couches there while you wait. I liked the little warning near the credit card reader about how to exit the driveway safely. I'm not sure why - but so many roads in Hayward could use some additional work done to them to improve safety and visibility. Painless experience as always. Very pleased. read more

The owner was so helpful! I called a few weeks ago to ask the price of a smog check and he informed me there was a coupon. I searched the website and was able to find the coupon. The smog check is $50 with the coupon. I called on Tuesday asking for the wait time promptly when they opened. He said he could help me at 9:30am and the process would take 10 minutes. Brought jeep in for oil leak spent 1k on oil filter housing. Engine still leaking so I took it back in this time it was supposedly valve cover leaks. Paid 900 to have replaced and engine still leaks. Took in today and says what we replaced is not leaking. Ha so I guess that means I paid 1900 for repairs that were not needed. It is obvious they were guessing and not trouble shooting the leak since it is still their. Oil filter leaking a bit and Manager said his mechanic checked it and torqued it down. I call BS the filter came new in the replaced the part and didn't check. Manager explanations were ALL about how they didn't or couldn't have done wrong. Manager will tell you they don't need to sell what's not needed because they are so busy and their are so many cars coming buy. Had visited here before for a check on my brakes and received a FREE inspection. It was just that, free, and I was assured that they were safe and that I had plenty of use left. I returned a year later when someone attempted to steal my catalytic converter, but were only able to cut it partially off. Hayward Smog re-welded the converter to the exhaust system for reasonable price and had me back on the road within 45 minutes. read more

Needed a last minute smog and thought of coming back here since I had the best experience here the last time i needed a smog over two years ago. I was so happy to see they are open until 6p - this works best for working folks who get off work at 5p as most shops close at 5p! Drove in to the shop and there was one customer waiting. Despite that, I was still in and out with a quick and ofcourse very pleasant service by Vihn. No frills smog check. I called ahead and asked if I could come at a certain timeframe, which the owner said was fine (they don't take appointments it seems). The parking is pretty tough as others have mentioned -- thankfully I found some near the front of the shop but it's tough. I went around to the garage side to enter, filled out some paperwork, handed in my DMV slip, and pulled my car in. The test was over in what felt like minutes. I was also able to redeem an online coupon I found to get a $15 discount. The owner is friendly and straight to the point. They also do car repairs; but more physical things like brakes, transmissions, etc -- I asked about some electronic problems I was having and the owner advised speaking with the dealership. To get out of the garage -- they actually have a handy map to show you what to do; but in essence, you act like you're parallel parking and use the parked cars nearby to "shield" you from backing right into traffic (you can't really back into the garage space initially since the test equipment is front-end facing). Thankfully as I was waiting to back up, a good Samaritan let me out, so I didn't need to worry about a risky exit. Would be back as it's was quick, affordable and painless. read more

Those of us who need to do a smog test have all been there: Scrambling around trying to find a reputable, open, and low-stress location to have a test done (Because: California). It's not fun at all. Even less fun is having to smog an older vehicle like mine. I have several cars but my favorite is a stalwart old Tacoma 4x4 that will outlast us all (henceforth known as Baby).
