When I arrived, there were 3 other people already in the waiting area with only 1 tech working, but I didn't wait long at all. S. Been coming here for years. Husband went and got a smog check done here a couple months ago and paid in cash, they never sent anything into DMV (no electronic record was sent to dmv after smog I found out because DMV won't let me register) nor did they give him a receipt. Called to ask if they could check their records, they checked and there was nothing there. I was still talking with the man over the phone when he hung up on me. I'm sure the money was pocketed and never put in the books. Waste of time and money. Will be advising family and friends to do business elsewhere. Poor service. After reading other reviews it appears this happens here. I have also had family bring their car in for a smog check not knowing that it won't pass if the check engine light is on, they ran the car anyways. Bad customer service. read more

I called this place after being referred from another shop due to them being over booked and only one person to do smogs. Mention the online coupon right away! Trust me! I went here on a non-busy day so my service was super quick and pleasant. I was in and out in probably 15-20 minutes. Knocking off some stars because it's expensive for a smog check and their online coupon rules feel a little deceptive. I realized midway through the smog check there was an online coupon for $30 off but that you had to mention it before the invoice is made, but cmon, if the customer found the coupon, why not honor it? Why not mention the coupon too? Even a big chain like Jiffy Lube has always tried to save me money with coupons! Online it says it's kind of a logistic thing with the system, but I'm not a big fan of charging a high price that you can lower with a coupon that you have to research and mention at the right time. Not a fan of businesses trying to charge you as much as possible when they know they can save you money! To be fair I didn't look into the place before going there so now I know to go somewhere else. read more

I've been to this place a few times and if there aren't too many people waiting it's not too bad but if there are already 2 cars in the garage area and the parking lot in front is mostly full, go another day it will be a long wait. I went a few weeks ago to get a smog check but my car did not pass because the OBD was not ready. Meaning the car's electronics need to be reset because the battery had died and all the power drained so none of the electronic had electricity to run, and when you put in a new battery all the electronic are basically back to factory reset. I did not know any of this until I did some research on the internet. It would have been nice if the person had told me basically what I would need to do to reset it. Instead he told me I had to go to mechanic who specializes in smog repairs and he could not recommend any, something about conflict of interest. I'm scrambling looking for a mechanic because my registration expiration is June, and luckily one of them told me what I needed to do (a couple wanted quite a bit of money for them to "fix" it and they couldn't guarantee success.). Next time if I need a smog check I'll do it earlier just in case I need to get something fixed instead of scrambling around and worrying about being late and getting a possible ticket. Luckily I was able to get the OBD ready and it passes the smog test. I then go to the DMV kiosk at Pak-n-Sav to get the sticker but it says I need a smog check. What??? Seems you have to wait at least 24 hours before getting the sticker at the kiosk because the information has not been updated in the DMV database (at least that's what I'm assuming). However a couple years ago when I had the smog check, and passes, I immediately went to AAA and got the sticker so I do not know what changed since then. Anyway, I go a couple days later to the kiosk and it says it couldn't get a sticker because it's in the process at the DMV. I'm a little confused so I go to Speedy to ask about whether the information was sent to the DMV. He said yes and that he told me that it would take 24 hours before it's in the DMV computer. Sorry...you did not tell me it would take 24 hours before I could get a sticker, otherwise I would not have gone to the kiosk. Now I have to wait about 2 weeks for the sticker because it took DMV a week to sent it out from the day the car passed the smog test (I found this out when I went to AAA to ask about getting the sticker from them.). Overall, if you don't have any issues with your car passing it's a decent place. But once it does have issues you don't really get much help from the person. At least that was my experience. read more

Speedy Smog in San Leandro was awesome in servicing two of my vehicles on the same day. In this day and age, I prefer to do things online. I live in South Hayward, CA. I did a Google search for "smog test near me" and it found Speedy Smog. To my delight, I saw that they had an online appointment calendar. I quickly made two appointments on a Saturday...one at 3:30 p.m. and one at 5 p.m. Turns out they close at 4 p.m. on Saturday but they took me anyway in good faith (awesome! ... they will fix the online calendar error for Saturday). The attendant was quite friendly and honored the internet coupon for a super awesome price (the money I saved I used to buy a tire iron and a 2 ton car jack at Pep Boys ~$60 ... ahhh, but I digress).
