I stopped by on a weekday morning, and asked how long it would be for a smog. Fifteen minutes. How great. Amaru was working on one car ahead of me. When it was my turn, he quickly got my info, and key and took care of the testing. He was quick and efficient. I had no issues. The price was reasonable, I expected it to be more actually. So that was a nice surprise. Amaru was pleasant. And I would definitely recommend this business. read more

I came here for a retest after my car failed the first inspection. I paid $59 without realizing there was a $39 offer on the website. When I politely asked about it during my return visit, the employee (different from the first time) was immediately rude. I was trying to explain myself calmly and even said "let me explain better" since English is not my first language. Instead of helping, he gave a very hard, mocking laugh, acted like he couldn't understand me, and then started yelling. It felt disrespectful and humiliating. I was calm and respectful the entire time, so the reaction felt completely unnecessary. I also saw other reviews mentioning rude behavior from staff, and others saying they were refused the $39 discount advertised online. At first I ignored those reviews, but now I understand what people meant. Overall, the experience felt unprofessional, and basic customer respect was missing. read more

Experience is always great here. I've been coming here for a few years now and am never disappointed after my visit. Would highly recommend!

Fast service and great price. No appointment needed, especially open on weekend is a plus for people like myself who doesn't have time during work week. read more

My 1999 Miata was having issues connecting to the smog machine (loose OBD sensor port), and Eric made it work after I had been turned away from other shops. He walked through my results with me after the test completed to ensure I keep my car in good shape moving forward. Eric went above and beyond! A+ service read more

In and out in under 10 minutes, great place. Very reasonable price and explained the process.

Prices are reasonable. The service was great. I was 3rd in line. So get there early. My smog test was quick. I recommend this place.

This wasn't my usual spot to go for a smog check but I was in the area visiting a friend. The location was very small and not a lot of room to maneuver around. It was like pulling up in front of someone's driveway and getting your smog check done right there. There was only one guy working. I would describe him as nice, quick and efficient. When he was writing down the info for my car, I showed him the web special on my phone and he was able to give me the discount. It took about 25 minutes for my smog check to be done. It probably would have been done quicker but there were a couple of people ahead of me. They did a few chairs inside for you to sit while you wait. If you were planning on using the web special, I would recommend calling them just to make sure your car qualified for the discount before you go. I thought I might have needed to call a few times before someone picked up but they were quick to answer my call. I noticed the guy actually carried the phone with him when I was there. The only downside about this place was that they charge you for a retest if your smog check failed so that would be something to consider if you decided to come here. read more

Erick, the inspector of my vehicle, was courteous, polite, and professional; he through out the process, which was quick, maintained a pleasant disposition, even when I failed to provide him with necessary information about my pickup (he kindly looked it up himself), and gave off the impression of a person knowledgeable in his chosen field and enjoyed performing its protocols to ensure an accurate and satisfying outcome. The charge for the service was reasonable and you are not kept waiting. Erick did not stop moving until he was finished and handing me the certificate. This is the type of establishment where the life of the customer is considered and paramount -- the work is executed expeditiously and you let go to return to living it. I will return to this business in the future. read more

Gotta give Erick and this place some love. I no longer need to leave the Island to save a few bucks for a smog. Fast, efficient, and actually a little hard to find. He's adjacent to the European car repair on High st and his business faces Fernside. If you were driving down High st towards the bridge, you wouldn't see this until after you make a right onto Fernside. read more

Needed to get a smog check and this place made it super easy. I was in and out quickly, and they honored the online coupon I found with no hassle at all. Definitely a great value overall and better if you can grab a coupon. I'll be coming back next time I need one done. read more

Excellent. Very professional and fast. Would visit again..... . . .................................

Quick, reasonably priced, even on the cheap side if you print out the coupon. Walk ins welcome

Thorough and timely More info than I had before using this yelp service It's important to realize that the coupon is for cash only. This station is closest to me but the extra info given is very helpful. This station has a good rating also. : ) TY Alameda Smog and Yelp! read more

Always quick, easy, reliable, AND inexpensive (especially using their discount coupon from their website). It's a one-person operated business without needing an appointment at all. Simply drive in, have a seat, get smog checked - and they'll submit your certification to the DMV all in about 10 minutes (if you pass.) Boom. read more

Walk ins ok. That just what I did. At 16:13 fast and friendly service. I didn't have cash so I'm paying the full price. I

This place is quick, friendly, and priced well. What more do you need out of a smog spot?

Quick and Easy! We were lucky enough to roll in when there was no one in line. We found Steve enjoying a cup of coffee, so I said "please finish your coffee first." Steve jumped right in and started the smog. He told me that it may be slow now, but he could have three cars lined up in 3 minutes flat! You don'et see this work ethic everyday! He proceeded to look the engine over carefully and then promptly began the smog test. Well, unfortunately the battery had run down on the car and it had lost all of it's computer data. Steve explained the process of driving the car to record the data needed. My son followed his instructions and returned in just a couple of hours. Since Steve had already done the smog and only needed to plug in to the computer, he took my son right in and completed the smog. Steve did a good job of explaining the charges and explained the trouble with the first smog with no BS. The service was honest and straight forward. A welcome addition to the limited smog options in Alameda! read more

A little disappointed. I have 4cars and come here about every year. I have a small crossover vehicle and they did not honor the web price. They change it to seden only. Just because it has a little hatchback. read more

I called around Oakland for some price comparisons on Smog checks for my vehicle. I was up front about my car info with each place and Eric from Alameda Smog was the only one who was upfront about the discounted pricing. He didn't try to give me an inflated price first. He was super genuine and the price was good. It was about the same as another place but I decided to go here because of my experience on the phone with Eric. When I got to the place it had a small, busy parking lot. I did have to wait a little while but there was a small waiting area. There were no upsell attempts. It was apparently one of the few places that doesn't automatically give a free retest if you don't pass so if you're worried that might be something to consider. They don't charge the full cost if you don't pass but it's close. I paid cash. For me it was $47.25 but I think the price went up a bit since just a couple days ago. Eric made things go smoothly. I passed and there were no issues. Eric checked with me how I would be doing my renewal for my registration just to make sure I knew there would be a certain amount for the certificate to make it through the system. I was aware there's a wait time but glad he lets people know who might not. Overall I was pleased with Alameda Smog and Eric who works there and ran my smog test. I would recommend this place, just maybe not if you're in a hurry. It is first come first served. read more

I've patronized this smog shop for many years now, bringing ~5 vehicles/year. Sometimes the service was fast, sometimes slow depending on the number of cars and the tech working. Came here today to find that they've added fine print to the "Web Special" to exclude what they consider High Performance vehicles at their discretion. Wanted to upcharge me 2x because my car came supercharged from the factory, claiming that this addition was to keep these vehicles in the best shape possible. What a joke. Last time I checked, the smog shop isn't doing any of my scheduled maintenance or oil changes. Won't be coming here or recommending this place anymore. Don't waste your time unless you like getting nickled and dimed. read more

Over the last five years I've brought in several cars that I've owned. The service is always quick and efficient. They always honor the yelp coupon. I'm in and out of there in about 10 minutes. Highly recommend this place for a smog check. read more

I called the shop for a smog quote for a BMW M3. The shop says they charge extra to "take their sweet time" to check the emissions. Every car has the same emissions hardware. I took my car to another shop who does not charge extra for performance cars. There is no difference in emissions.. every car has the same components and does not take longer to check. Avoid this shop. read more

Alameda Smog - Smog Check Stations Near Me - Alameda, California

Really rude. I called to ask a simple question so I could bring my car in and was just met with attitude. It isn't the first time either, every time I've spoken to someone from here, they act like they are doing me a favor and I'm not a customer? Not a good impression and definitely not recommending this establishment to anyone. Disappointing for a local business. read more

In and out within 15 minutes. Friendly, clean shop, and they honored the Yelp deal. Highly recommend them

Alameda Smog - Smog Check Stations Near Me - Alameda, California

Well, things seem to have gone downhill very rapidly. The owner has been disciplined by the state, and the service was rude and extremely unprofessional. Upon my 3rd visit for the same car, they said they didn't have gas for the test equipment, couldn't say when they would and turned into jerks when I pressed them for it so I could make an appt. Went to another shop in Alameda (Smog Dog), made arrangements to return in an hour when he could do it, and when we returned, he said his equipment broke while we were gone. That was a lie, because, guess what, he hadn't been using it on the car that was before us, and, Smog Dog has the same owner! So, this genius decided not to help because we were unhappy with the partner shop instead of making it right. What a bunch of incompetent clowns. Go To Oakland, these amatures have no idea what good customer service is. They've earned a minus 5 review. I'll also wager there won't be a response to this, because it's pretty clear these guys don't give a s__t about customers. read more

Fast - Was in and out in about 10 minutes, great price and service, very good experience

Went to get a smog right when they opened. Service was fast and friendly, was out of there within 30 minutes! Total price was about $65

Smog check cost me $67.25. They were fast and polite. So why two only stars? I had a coupon from their website for a smog check for $39. I didn't show him the coupon until the test was complete and it was time to pay, and the gentleman refused to accept it because I had not shown it to him before he had written the full price on the paper invoice. Apparently, there was nothing he could do. That's disingenuous. read more

I came here on a Monday around 3PM a couple of weeks ago and there were a few customers ahead. I highly recommend coming in early/midweek or calling ahead to give him a heads up. I did wait about 30-45 mins as each car takes about 10-15 mins. Steve was very professional, friendly and quick. Thank you for the great experience. Prices were reasonable. We followed COVID guidelines - wore mask and social distant. Quick tip: show or mention their website for the coupon when you do the paperwork! read more

I just had them do smog certification on my Subaru Forester. It was a delightful experience. Erick was very friendly, efficient and competent. I was able to take advantage of a Web Special and got a very good price including notification to DMV. The whole time from when I drove in without an appointment until I drove away with my certificate took less than 20 minutes. I have had several smog checks from other companies in the past, and this was by far the nicest, most pleasant, quick and professional service I have received. I recommend Alameda Smog without qualification. read more

Went there with a friend to help them get their smog check. The prices were a bit on the higher side but they are open Saturdays, the people working there were friendly and the line moved pretty quickly. So if you're bargain hunting _maybe_ _not_ this one, but if you want something quick and convenient it's a good spot! read more

Great service and a great price using their website coupon. Quick and friendly. Very happy I took my car here.

They are friendly guys, but I won't be coming back. My first attempt at a smog check failed since there was an issue with a tube with tape on it. They recommended that I go to O'Reilly to get it checked out. I go there and a worker fixes the issue with a pocket knife in 1 min in the parking lot and tells me to go back to Alameda smog. They say they're not sure why the guys at Alameda smog couldn't have just fixed it themselves... On my second visit to Alameda smog, my vehicle passed and they charged me an extra $28. Not sure, why these guys couldn't have just lent me a hand.. that's why I won't be back. read more
