I had a great experience with B T Auto Care. He didn't just fix my cooling system -- he took the time to really get to know me and walk me through everything he was doing. No rushing, no pressure, just honest work from a genuinely kind person. You can tell he cares about people, not just cars. On top of that, the price was super fair -- great value for the work and care he put in. I left feeling confident and taken care of. I'll definitely be coming back. read more

Highly recommended. Extremely pleased to recommend John and his crew at BT AUTO REPAIR by the Fruitvale BART Station! Reasonable charges, accurate estimates of cost and of time to repair, and a clean, professional shop with parking. When I brought my Honda for a tune-up, he discovered a worn belt that wouls have cost a thousand dollars iof any of the sytems went down. He repaired a tricky ignition, and recently replaced a burnt-out headlight the same day. The courteous, very knowledgable service here is wayyyy above the norm. Thank you BT AUTO! read more

I'm so glad with this place. I had a cooling fluid leaking and I thought there is something wrong with my water pump. First thing in the morning I went to BT after I had my friend recommendation. The place could fix my problem immediately and I've been told that the problem is much smaller than what I thought (honesty is most appreciated especially in the auto repair industry) one hour later the problem is gone and I can safely drive the car again. Thank you B T auto repair. I will definitely recommend you to my friends read more

John is the bizness for real! He is the only mechanic that I let touch any of my cars. I have been a customer of his for over 10 years & has ALWAYS come through for me. Oaklands best kept secret....Sssh! read more

The guys here are super nice, super thorough. I came in part in hand car was ready that same day. When I went in to pick it up they found another issue and fixed it free of charge. Where most mechanics are known to be ripoffs these guys are not! There just great ppl offering great services and even offered a great referral for some electrical issues! read more

I had to get my rear shock replace, because the Honda dealership said it was leaking. I called around and this is the cheapest place I can find, lesser than half of what Honda quoted. He had to order the parts for me, and it was delivered the next day. I made an appointment and was super impressed that I was in and out within 20 minutes. I appreciated him keeping the price he promised, and the speedy service that he provided. This will be my forever going to mechanic for any future mechanical needs. read more

Super speedy and affordable oil change! I highly recommend this place. Will be coming back.

Poor communication leading to wasted time and gas (which at this time is really expensive). Not worth it. read more

John is been around for a longtime and has been working on my family's cars for many years. Very knowledge, no bs assessment, and great competitive prices. Almost didn't want to write about his shop but won't serve justice if I didn't. Great all around business for auto repair. read more

Finding a good mechanic is hard. I was lucky enough to find BT Auto when I was in a jam. I had gotten several very expensive estimates, and was about to give up on my car. I took one last chance to try BT Auto and it was the best decision ever! They did the repairs for half the price and the work was perfect and held up for the life of the car. After this experience, I never went to another mechanic. John is my guy! John is the best mechanic I've ever used. He is honest, trustworthy and efficient. He tells it to you straight, doesn't try to up sell you at all! I highly recommend BT Auto! If you're in the Oakland area- Don't go anywhere else! read more

Terrific and quick service. The other reviews pretty much say it all. John is an honest and exceptional mechanic. He diagnosed the problem with my car (catalytic converter was stolen) and helped me with the insurance procedure and repairs. Top notch. read more

I'm so happy I found BT Auto Repair for my Brake and Lamp Inspection after calling quite a few garages. The owner / mechanic was thorough and the price was right! Highly recommended. read more

The place looks a little run down due to the hydroponic shop next door shutting down and leaving their trash in the lot. But I trusted the reviews here and drive on in at 4:30 needing a smog check and trying to also make the post office. I got charged a little more then other advertised smog check deals, but for that I had my smog check receipt, and made the post office in fruitvale. Just before they closed. It's a no nonsense place with real people not looking to screw you in getting your emcee worked on... Rare for any shop these days. Recommended highly! read more

The front brakes on my 2011 RAV4 started to make horrible sounds. I called around and searched yelp for local repair shops. I'm always nervous that I'm going to get ripped off so I checked out the reviews. BT Auto Repair was referred to in another shop's reviews as being trustworthy, uses Toyota parts, and was reasonably priced. And indeed all of those things are true! John is awesome - very helpful, explained everything to me and showed me everything on my brakes. I needed the rotors replaced - he said the ones on my car were damaged beyond repair. I thought it was going to be an arm and a leg but instead I left with a bill I could handle and a safer ride. I will definitely be going back!! read more

John Vu is the most honest, hardworking and understated mechanic you'll find. I've taken several cars to him over the years and he always seems to find a way to fit my cars in, when I am in need. He has lots of hands on experience and knowledge, and can diagnosis the issue(s) very quickly. With that said, he also doesn't overstate his haunches, if he is unsure. Just super honest and trustworthy. I cannot overly recommend him to those who want fair dealings and results. read more

I've only been there once, but it was a good experience -- fixed a problem with the belt, and did an oil change (including checking fluids / tire pressure), all in about 30 minutes for $75. Very happy with the work! read more

BT Auto is a great repair shop. Very reasonably priced with quick service. I highly recommend.

Just want to add, John ordered an actuator for my vent. I brought the car in at 5:00pm on a Friday. He called me before 8am on Saturday to tell me the car was ready. If I had it repaired by the dealer it would have been at least 1/3rd higher, though the dealer could not give me an exact price. John's quote was exactly what I paid. I see my original post is gone. BT auto was highly recommended to me by a group of business people. My boyfriend, who know lots about cars, brings his cars here from Livermore. If you want someone who is honest, respectful, knowledgeable, very reasonable, uses only good parts, skilled, and no-nonsense John is the best. Don't let the neighborhood scare you. I only go there now. read more

Great service! Brought in my own brake kit and he had no problem to changed them! He's really nice and friendly the owner of the place! He won't push you or anything to replacing stuff but if their is something wrong he will let you know read more

i come here for all my auto repair needs. Ive had two cars now and both times I've gone to John anytime I've had a problem. He's very patient and usually finds the problem pretty fast. The mechanic at BT Auto Repair, John, was fast and friendly. He was knowledgable and made us feel comfortable. He can do a brake and lamp inspection for salvaged vehicles, which many mechanics are not licensed to do. A+! read more

I went there for a tune up and brake / light inspection on my Corolla. John is a zen master of car repair - calmly identifying a number of minor problems and fixing a few of them for free. He also noted that he'd have charged less than the place I had my brakes, shocks and struts replaced and would have used original Toyota components (mine were generics). He showed me his parts collection to prove it. Wish I'd gone to him instead. John was sincere and very trustworthy. If only I lived in the Oakland area, he's the type of mechanic I'd send my mother to. read more

When looking for a state-certified brake & light inspection facility, I found many that wanted to charge almost $200. Then I called BT Auto Repair and was only charged $75. I took my car over and it was worked on immediately- very little time was spent waiting. read more

This was my first time dealing with BT Auto repair but I must say, John was very friendly and very honest. I bought an alternator and went to him to install it. The price he quoted me was the best deal I found compared to 8 other shops I called. John immediately did a diagnostic check and let me know that the problem wasn't the alternator. He also let me know that taking it back to the dealership to get fixed would be my best option. He could've easily kept the car and installed the alternator just to make some money off of me but he didn't. It's refreshing to know that there are still some honest mechanics out there. Or at least ONE honest mechanic that I'm sure of. Go see John. read more

I am so happy with this mechanic. I have used him for a few years now with families 2 cars and I am always happy with his work and prices. I went to another mechanic closer to my house to ask for what they charge and BT auto repair was so much cheeper and he is so fast getting the work done. He even check the fluids on my daughters car and filled up without us asking. This is one honest and great mechanic. read more

Johnny is the best. Very accurate with estimates and calls you if he goes over. He called me to tell me it was going to be $8 more than the estimate. Been to him a few times and the work has always been excellent, fairly priced, and never has taken longer than a day even when they sent him the wrong parts. He operates his shop with integrity and it's the main reason I'll never go anywhere else. read more

John is indeed an honest man , he allowed me to gather parts for my 2001 honda accord v6. Which was in terrible need of a timing belt and waterpump change. Due to my personal expertise in cars. I wasn't charged a diagnostic or inspection fee. I heard that most shops will just look at it and charge a whopping 80 dollar fee. John charged me 300 dollars for labor I felt this is a good deal. I was able to drop the vehicle off at 9 o clock on May 27th. I received a call from John and it was completed at 1500 hours the same day. Which I felt was amazing. I would recommend bt auto for labor intensive jobs. read more
