My check engine light on my 2012 Nissan Sentra commuter car came on while driving and there was a sound coming from my muffler. I took the car in on a Monday morning and approx. 2 hours later, I received a call with a diagnosis. I needed a tune-up and an engine coil. I out the quote into ChatGOT just to see if it was a reasonable amount and it was indeed. When they were installing the spark plugs, they notice oil in some gasket so I got that as well. I also got an oil change since it was close to time. All work was complete around 5:00pm, but since they close at 5:30pm I went the following morning to pick up my car. Overall I'm satisfied with the work and they seem to be honest and fair. read more

I knew I needed a new alternator and had a cracked radiator, so I called and spoke to Jose who was great and very professional. He fit me in last minute that same morning and had my car ready by closing. That was a big deal because I really needed it back fast. He was super clear about everything, explained what was going on, and didn't make it feel overwhelming. No weird upselling, no pressure, just honest and straightforward, which I appreciate. My car is running great now and honestly his prices were very reasonable, especially considering how much work had to be done. That definitely matters. It's hard to find someone you actually trust with your car, but I felt taken care of here. I'll definitely be going back. Thank you again, Jose. read more

I've been coming to jt for a while now and he hasn't let me down yet so imma stick with him as long as he open honest and great mechanic for all makes and models read more

If I could rate 0 stars I would. I got my timing belt done here and had to bring it back 3 times because it was making a whiny noise after. Each time they told me it was normal to do that for a few weeks after. I kept taking it back and the third time they said they had to loosen it cause it was too tight. After that I had problems with my car stalling. I also found out from many mechanics that it is actually NOT normal for a car to make a noise after timing belt is changed and that means they did it wrong. The owner seems like a nice guy sure but he can't admit to doing something wrong and taking accountability, they rather do a half ass job and try to get you from coming back to their shop. I would never go here again. They need to stick to doing oil changes if they don't know how to do bigger jobs where they are charging a lot of money but not doing them right and not giving you a refund. Would recommend never going here, even just for an oil change they might put bad oil in your car who knows. read more

My brake line was damaged in the middle of my work day and my brakes went out just in time for me to enter the Laurel district. My clients recommended this shop for honest and good auto services. I luckily made it to the shop and Jacob was able to identify the issue quickly, communicated with me every step of the way and made sure I made it home safely. Five stars! read more

They gave me a quote and did the work same day. Honest good workers. Yelp says I need to say more. They were good

These guys are the best around. I have brought two of my cars here to be worked on and they always fix everything perfectly at a fair price! I will always bring my cars here! read more

The shop is great. Fair prices, never had an issue after they fixed whatever problems I've had. Highly recommended

Fixed my flat tire in 20 minutes for $20, what's not to love? Definitely coming back next time something goes wrong with the car.

Took a car in for a prepurchase inspection. He was very thorough and found a couple of oil leaks that would have been pretty costly to fix on my own. Was able to use his report to get the dealer to fix the car so can't speak to that, but he was very affordable, quick, and straight up. Will bring my car back when i have something that isn't covered. read more

Took my 2001 Toyota Tacoma here for timing belt and water pump (comes in a kit for both). Jose answered all of my questions, was able to get me in quick and had the job done as promised. Let me inspect/take a picture of the old timing belt so I could see what 92K miles on my timing belt looked like. It's a labor intensive job - and I contacted several shops prior to having the work done - Jose/JT Automotive provided the most reasonable cost. No complaints and the truck is running great! read more

Two months ago, I visit to have one of my shocks replaced; Jose and team takes care of it that very day. However, a month and a half later the metallic clunking noise returns - goddammit! - but I'm not quick to judge: as a professional who works with mechanical equipment daily, I recognize that despite modern manufacturing concision, the integrity of some parts can simply break with the barest of use. I take in my car, Jose confirms that it's a bum shock, and as it is still under warranty, he replaces the part for no extra cost nor does he charge for the install work. Handing over my key, he says, "Please let me know if you have any other trouble." If this new shocks goes, well then I'll readily change the score; for now, I'm more than satisfied by his business practice and service. read more

Called a couple places for a quote to get my old differential bushings replaced on my gs430. JT offered the best prices and got the entire job done all in the same day. TLDR: reliable. Honest. Transparent. High quality work you can trust!!! I've been bringing my car here for nearly two years now and tell everyone about JT automotive. Very polite and people friendly fast pace workers good quality and always ready to bring your car or truck they even fix rv*s

Excellent service, fair prices, fast work. Always bring my cars to Jose, super friendly and makes sure job gets done correctly.

He did our breaks, And the breaks made a Intolerable squeaking We brought the car back twice and he fail to fix it. We ended up having to have redone somewhere else. And we had to change the brakes again and paid again. He's definitely not reliable And do not follow up on his work. read more

Super unfortunate that the mechanic I am walking distance from is not an up an up guy. I took my vw over there after hearing some screeching. Jose told me that in addition to the breaks needing to be replaced there were a bunch of other items that needed to be addressed. I trusted that he knew what he was talking about so I agreed to do the work. I asked if I could do part of the work a couple of weeks later which he assured me I could and pay the balance we had agreed to. When I came back he told me he made a mistake with the quote and it was $200 more. When I agreed to meet him in the middle for his clerical error he said I didn't actually need the remainder of the work but he wanted to see if I was going to work with him on it. I expressed that this was shady to quote me on a job he said I ultimately didn't need. He agreed that it was shady. I refrained from writing this review as he is a local business in the hood but took the car back to explain that although I had spent $1k with him inclusive of the breaks being fixed that the Break Wear and Parking break lights were activating one one week after the job had been done. When bringing it back I was told that they only did the back breaks and that the front are no basically worn down so I'm going to have to go to an entirely different mechanic. Very frustrated that I thought I could give JT Automotive all of my future business and now I have to start fresh with someone else I won't be able to now get a bulk discount with. Super untrustworthy. They also parked my car right at a bush not caring to scratch the paint? read more

I called 15+ auto shops in the East Bay to get a quote for a full clutch job, and JT Automotive provided the most reasonable quote by far. When I brought my car in, there was an issue with their system and they couldn't find the original quote, but they were nice enough to still honor it. And they completed the job so quickly even though it was a labor intensive repair - I was shocked to get a call the next morning that my car was already done. I would definitely return here for future car repairs - although hopefully I won't need to have the clutch replaced again anytime soon! read more

Jose is fantastic and extremely accommodating. He was able to schedule me in same day (very lucky for that), he troubleshooted AND fixed a leak by next morning. I am so glad to have him close by and will continue to use him for other car needs as they arise....and they will arise!!! Also.....he has a wonderful and attentive staff at the shop - everyone is incredibly busy and they get stuff done. read more

From the moment Brian answered the phone, it was a good experience. He was able to get me into the shop on short notice for an inspection on a car I was looking to buy from someone on Craigslist. We arrived at 3:30pm and he started and finished in an hour and a half. He was very thorough while also answering any questions I had along the way. Needless to say he found a lot of things wrong and his recommendations were instrumental in my decision to not buy the car. And all that for $65?! Great price, great value, Thanks Brian, and JT automotive! You were super helpful! read more

Jose was great. I took my Ford C Max in for a strange noise that I had hoped was just a wheel bearing. Jose took time and trouble to investigate and deduced that there was a transmission problem. He advised me to take the car to the dealership. Sure enough, the entire transmission is currently being replaced under warranty. I'm grateful to Jose for his diagnostic skills and for taking the time to do a proper investigation. read more

Thank goodness JT Auto was open during this time of Shelter In Place. Was in need of an oil change and the nice young lady (I think her name was Lucero)set a same day appointment for me! Apparently this is a family oriented working shop! I LOVE AND SUPPORT ALL SMALL BUSINESSES like these especially with a family behind the scene pulling through together. Anyway, it was super convenient, quick, and such a reasonable price! The staff (family) were super kind and friendly! I am definitely coming back with my boyfriends car for his oil change, and other services! Thanks Jose for the wonderful services you provided with such etiquette! Will be coming back to my local automotive! read more

Jose was straight forward, helpful, and responsive. I'd highly recommend JT Automotive

Where to start! The owner of this new shop, Jose, has been working on my family's cars for years. He was recommended to me about 6 years ago - by word of mouth through a friend. I am always hesitant with mechanics because I don't know a whole lot about cars and I don't want to get screwed over. I have had nothing but positive interactions with him! He is reliable, honest, and hard working. He always finds the best deals on parts for me, explains what needs to be done/fixed and why, and answers any questions I have with no hesitation. I can usually get an appointment with him pretty quickly and the turnaround time is always beyond expectations. I can't stress enough how valuable Jose is as a mechanic. I have recommended him to extended family and many friends and they always sing his praises and often use him again (should they need to). Congrats on the new shop, Jose! You got a lifetime customer here! read more

Jose is awesome, I drove by one day and saw his shop open after having a bad experience at another shop down the street. I was having some suspension issues so I reached out to Jose on yelp, the only problem was I needed my truck for work during the week. We made an appointment for saturday to do my upper control arms and lower ball joints and Jose got the work done with a QUICKNESS and had me ready for work on monday! Super nice guy and very reasonably priced, I'll be bringing him more work for sure! read more

This is the first time i've had my car serviced outside of a dealership, but i was sick of the inattentive customer service that I had been receiving there. Instead of returning to my normal Toyota mechanic I went to JT Automotive after seeing the service light come on.
