Excellent service, super honest, and Ngoc is great, he explained everything clearly at my pre-sale inspection. Highly recommend!

Tony and his team were able to quickly diagnose and resolve multiple tail and brake light issues across two vehicles - a Ford and a Kia - and to resolve them completely at a fair price. Tony, the owner, even did the work himself. It was also easy to make an appointment by calling ahead. We will be going back to TMS Automotive for any similar issues in the future and have found our Bay Area mechanic! On time, reasonably priced, educational, and pleasant to work with. read more

The staff at TMS Automotive are amazing! They do excellent and trustworthy work! They genuinely care about the service they provide and ensure that the services rendered are for the long term. They provide quality work. I highly recommend their shop! read more

Absolutely the best. Extremely competent, capable, honest and efficient. And nice besides. They explain problems well and give me options with prices. I don't go anywhere else. read more

Our 2013 Mini Cooper (Highgate convertible) experienced some serious trauma, followed by disaster, realized it was a cracked engine and then made aware of some meta-problems concerning the shrinking Mini service scene here. Did a lot of research. We were introduced to these guys and impressed by the way Tony didn't seem to flinch at what was a huge and maybe futile job. Engine, cooling system, transmission, more, all renewed. Attention to detail is evident. Great communication. We always felt our car was in good hands. Grateful! read more

TMS Automotive came highly recommended. Tony saved me a lot of money when I needed a second opinion on an expensive car repair recommended by another auto shop. So when it came time for a major tuneup, I returned to TMS for the service. Tony described in detail what maintenance was necessary and was thoughtful about budget constraints by helping me prioritize the repairs. I appreciate his patience in answering my many questions. Shout out to Ngoc who works alongside Tony. He's great too. Now I feel confident my car is in the best of hands. read more

I am so grateful for the guys at TMS Auto. They checked my car and solved a mystery of a chugging sound in the mornings. They found my Acura needed a new timing belt. They gave special considerations to have the car ready so I could use it for my birthday weekend trip to Calistoga. I really appreciate all the little things they did to take care of my Acura and my peace of mind. Our trip to Calistoga was safe and wonderful. I really appreciate their professional service and their kindness. read more

TMS Automotive is still the solid, trustworthy, excellent auto repair shop in Oakland. Tony and his crew continue to service my family's vehicles for over 25 years. He has kept the same crew of quality, trustworthy mechanics. If you're looking for experienced, knowledgable, dependable, straight-shooter and a valuable auto mechanic crew, look no further in these guys. read more

I always feel very good about having my car worked on at TMS Automotive. These guys are magic, and I always leave there feeling great about having them as my mechanics. Rodell once spotted significant damage under the hood of my car which was caused by a fast-rolling tire on the freeway that had rolled under the front of my car. The damage was so significant that he suggested I contact my insurance immediately. Kind, honest, caring, professional, bright, and the list goes on when it comes to these men. I have called the garage just to ask for advice and Ngoc is always ready to provide it. Tony, Rodell and Ngoc are greatly appreciated. Thank you always, gentlemen! Ignacio A. read more

I was referred over to RMS by Renee at Crash Champions, who has also been great when we've had auto-body/collision work for our cars. Gnoc and Tony explained everything to me about my truck and what was causing problems with it. They reset my entire electric grid, which was causing the original problem with my steering and tires. I'll gladly bring our cars back to them and will be referring them to friends. read more

Updating my review because I really would give Tony and TMS a million stars if I could. They are amazing at what they do, as well as friendly, warm, and easy to communicate with. They will never talk down to you or leave you feeling uncomfortable, which goes a long way in building trust. They understand that many people aren't rolling in $$$ and really work with you to figure out what your best options are for what's *actually* most important for your car, because if you're strapped for cash you have to prioritize what you can do. I really appreciate TMS every single time and refer all my friends too. I feel very grateful to have a place I can be confident in, and encourage everyone to give them a try! read more

Transparent conversations that give me more trust in them every time. I don't live nearby and still bring my car here because they are respectful and don't give me the dumb girl attitude I've gotten from other mechanics. Honest, fair, quick and I can't recommend them enough. read more

I highly recommend this place! I was referred to this shop for a transmission fluid replacement. Tony was great and responsive in my request for an estimate, being scheduled, and getting it taken care of in a timely manner. He also showed me how dirty my transmission fluid was which established trust since this was my first time getting my vehicle serviced at his shop. read more

Went in to have scans checked out on my car from my obd2 scanner. They cleared all codes and showed me that it was my scanner causing the problems. The car hasn't had any problems since then. They didn't even charge me, standing ovation to them. read more

TMS Automotive provides the ultimate car service experience, delivering honest, friendly, and exceptional service.

Tony is honest, he will not perform a service that you don't need. I had taken my car to Honda and they tried to take me for all I had, recommended a few different services. I took my car to TMS looking to get it fixed cheaper than the dealership... Tony didn't want to do two of the 3 things Honda recommended. He turned away my money because he knew it was unnecessary (though I didn't know better) and that earned TMS my loyalty. In the end they win a lifetime customer. They work fast, their services are fairly priced and I'm happy to support them. I recommend them to everyone I know looking for a smart, honest mechanic. I now live in LA but will try to time my services with my trips back to the bay so I can have TMS work on my car read more

I've been with Tony and Rodel since I moved here locally and started at the High St. Auto back in 1995...following them "EVERYWHERE", since they're like the doctor or dentist you hope NEVER retire....and just like your own health, I trust them to take the best care of "the health of my automobiles"...!!! Every car/suv/van that we've own has been thoughtfully cared for by them, and that's just how I like it. They only perform work that is needed/when it is needed, to keep them running in optimum performance. I feel confident with all the advice he has given me, not only related to auto repair and maintenance, but also advice on which cars to buy/which to avoid, based on his expert experience from working on them. If I could change anything, I wished he was located 'closer to home", but it's a moot point, it's worth traveling to wherever he is, so that he can spoil me with the trusted care that we've grown accustomed to...the guys at TMS are "DA BEST"...!!! read more

He knows the diff intricacies of the many diff cars and nuances. THey fix all kinds of vehicles., even the more difficult and specialized cars like certain VW, Chevy, Honda, Lexus , Porsche and Toyota, etc. Rodel knows just as much and they all complement each other. Make sure you call for an appointment. If you dont understand an issue, ask them for an explanation and they will gladly explain. Good products in AMsoil and other car parts. My family and I have been going to TMS for ages that we seriously consider them as family. Tony has been servicing all of our cars and has saved me numerous times during my "oh my god what is happening in car mode!" I was getting off the bridge and it was pouring rain - my wipers weren't functioning and I could hardly see... I called Tony and he told me to come directly to the shop so that they could change the wipers. No appointment needed - done. They are true professionals who are honest and trustworthy. Always on time and with a friendly smile and attitude. They care for you like you're family and in this day and age, that is rare. To Tony and team - truly thankful for you guys and keep up the good work... we appreciate you :) read more

My Porsche dealership attempted to fix my coolant leak in our Porsche Cayenne. The car continued to leak coolant and luckily I was able to drive it to TMS Automotive safely without any issues. Once there, Tony diagnosed the problem quickly with all the correct scan tools and fixed the coolant leak once and for all! Extremely happy with the service! Thank you Tony and his crew! read more

Tony is quick, communicative, honest, and tons of integrity. I have been taking my Civic here for over a decade, when it was Marty's Metrix, and trusted Marty's judgement when he handed this over to Tony. I have zero regrets. Tony has continued Marty's legacy and I really appreciate that from a mechanic. THANK YOU Tony and team! read more

These guys are amazing!! By far the best car repair shop I've been to. Not only are they extremely helpful, they are honest & kind. 5 thumbs up!!! read more

Tony is now the only person I'll take my cars to, even if it's making the drive from Berkeley for something as simple as a routine oil change. Whether it's scheduling, coordinating pick up/drop off, or the maintenance itself, service from all of the guys at TMS is unfailingly timely, polite, thorough and conscientious. I never worry about being upsold unnecessary items, and if anything I keep an eye out for discounted/complimentary services that may have been provided. The peace of mind I get by coming here for auto work in this often-opaque industry is priceless. read more

I was a longtime customer at Torchio's Auto until they recently closed. I found TMS on Yelp and took my Honda in for an oil change today. Tony and his staff are very welcoming, transparent, and do not up-sell. I definitely recommend this locally-owned business to anyone looking for a friendly and honest neighborhood mechanic! read more

Tony and his crew are amazing and do such wonderful work. We have been taking our cars to him for years and he never lets us down. He looks to keep cost down wherever possible and is the most honest mechanic I know. I highly recommend this place and you will not be sorry. read more

TMS Automotive does amazing work! Whenever I have car troubles I bring both my car and my girlfriend's car here. I like the fact that the guys over at TMS Automotive take the time and effort to make sure everything is done right the first time and they aren't rushing just to get to the next customer. Don't have time to find someone to take you to the shop? TMS Automotive has a courtesy shuttle to take you to BART so you can get to work or to your home as long as you aren't too far away! All their work is backed by a 12,000 mile / 1 year warranty where most places only do 90 days! They also only use quality parts...I used to be religious about using Mobil 1 in my car but now I have switched to Amsoil! I have not met a more genuine and honest business owner than Tony. Because of this, I really do believe in supporting small businesses such as TMS Automotive! read more

These people were very accomodating and friendly with my troublesome situation. My car's battery kept dying and I didn't want to leave it on street parking while it waited to be serviced. They offered to move it for me and keep it for a few days on the street while I was away on vacation while servicing it. To me, this was above and beyond what I was expecting. read more

Tony is an outstanding owner and mechanic. We've been taking our cars to him for years and years (when he was High Street Auto) and he has always been honest, reasonably priced and very helpful. We always felt like he had our backs and was never trying to make an extra buck. We moved out of the area and really miss the exceptional service Tony provided at TMS! We haven't been able to find a mechanic like him since. Him and his shop are a gem! We miss him! I highly, highly recommend TMS! read more
