I called in as I had a cracked AC line. Was able to get it replaced from a mechanic friend but wasn't agent to get the system evacuated and recharged. Called in for availability and cost, got me in right away and was transparent on cost during the call. Got me in and out sooner than they estimated. Would definitely go back as Kham was a pleasure to work with. read more

Kam and his team from Community Auto Center do outstanding work. This is the second time I've gone to their shop. The first time was to help get a hitch installed. It was tough finding a place that will do it, but with great luck I stumbled upon Community Auto Garage. Gave them a call and they immediately responded and answered all the questions I had. They did an awesome job with the hitch installation. My boyfriend and I were able to enjoy riding our bikes out of town with their help! Fast forward to today, I had my car serviced for a faulty starter and bad alternator. I was quoted an insane amount at the dealership, but was quoted a much reasonable price here. It was smooth scheduling the appointment with Kam. Throughout the process, he was informative & communicative. He provided photos and videos and went above and beyond with updates! They were able to get my car done faster than their estimated time as well. It was such a relief working with them! They do fast, reliable and honest work. I highly recommend coming to their shop for any car troubles! read more

In the past, I've always dreaded taking my car in for service; as a woman who clearly understands nothing about cars except how to drive them, I was used to being patronised and always unsure whether I actually needed all the work I'd been told was necessary. By contrast, from Day One, Kham and his team at the Community Auto Center treated me like a valued client. They provided honest, professional, high-quality work at a fair price, and they made me feel extremely comfortable. This is the beginning of what I expect will be a long-term relationship! read more

Kham and his team are a helpful, no BS type of shop. they'll give it to you straight and at a good price. got my pre-purchase inspection done and will definitely be returning. Thank you again bro read more

What a pleasure to work with Kham, and I have found my trusted auto mechanic for my 2006 Honda Civic! I had over $8k of work that the dealership quoted me, and fortunately I shopped around and Community Auto Center was able to deliver all of it at a fraction of the price. Kham even threw in a free battery for my remote. Plus the keychain is super cool I was sent photos all along the way. Superb communication! read more

I was having some issues with my brakes. A friend recommended this place, and I gave them a call. They were able to squeeze me in. I had a great experience here! The service was fast and professional, the pricing was fair, and they kept me informed every step of the way. Really appreciated the clear communication and honesty--definitely recommend! read more

I had a great experience at Community Auto Center. It was easy to make an appointment and they took on my issue, which others had shied away from. My car had been having issues starting in the morning though the battery, starter and alternator was fine. We had to find out what was draining it, and they did! It was repaired at a fair price and now my car is functioning normally. They are kind, skilled, friendly and communicative. Excellent all around! read more

Solid service and super trustworthy mechanic with fair pricing. I noticed some squeaking coming from my car and thought to myself, "that doesn't sound good" so I decided to ask around to see who might be able to fit in a diagnostic check without being oversold on things I don't really need. A few friends mentioned Community Auto Center and I called and they were kind enough to fit me in despite having a full schedule and let me drop off the car that afternoon. They confirmed I needed new brakes and they were able to install them the following day. Rather than selling me on changing front and back brakes, they confirmed by front brakes still had life and I only needed to change the back brakes. Highly recommend and I'll be back! read more

Always always receive excellent service here and the high quality is noticeable. I went in for routine maintenance and they recommended my transmission fluid be changed. Now my car is running much smoother than before. And the value of the services can't be beat! Been coming here for years and will continue to do so! read more

Happy to say they are still my trusty auto center and still standing during the pandemic! Support your local businesses! Put your money where your love/roots are. read more

This is a long overdue review, but I must thank Kham and his team for all their work over the years! I've been coming to Community Auto Center since 2020 based on a recommendation from my friend who works in the area, and ever since, I have not yet to look for another place to get my car checked and repaired. Kham is honest, does thorough quality work, and is well-versed as a Mechanic. His team does a great job at what they do and are kind. I've recommended many of my friends in the area to Community Auto Center over the years, and without fail, they share the same sentiments! read more

Kham was knowledgeable, friendly, and kept me posted throughout the process. He even sent pictures of what he was doing so I can visualize what he was fixing. read more

Yo, the owner Tane (rhymes with Sean) is the bomb. 5 S T A R S , Allow me to FAWN. * CAR TROUBLES GONE Resolved issues big and small for our Versa and Prius. They both run so much better that folks want to be us. * SERVICE SHINES LIKE THE DAWN My wife just drives up in the morning for quick air in her tires, no charge. Tane always has a quick five minutes to plug his computer into your dash and let you know why the heck the CHECK ENGINE light just came on. * PRICES MOWED LIKE A LAWN The bills have been much less than another 'cheap' mechanic I used to be loyal to. I was quoted around $1000 for replacing the major systems fluids from that other guy, and Tane came back with a price that was less than half of that. * DON'T FEEL LIKE A PAWN Communicating with Tane is really easy. Timely text responses and he includes screenshots with his replies to foster understanding. He has never spoken down to me or chided me for my ignorance. Best of all, he's never made me feel like a complete jackass for being so lame at maintaining my car. * HAPPY CUSTOMERS FROM JOANNE TO JUAN Seems like all the loco-locals from around the hood that I know of show love to Community Auto Center. Complaints are never a sound, positive stories all around! read more

Kham and his team are fantastic. We took in our Prius after a fender bender and he was very knowledgable, professional, and friendly. He was easy to talk with and took the time to explain to us what he thought needed replacing or didn't need replacing and why. He not only had our car returned to us after one week, he and his team cleaned the car very thoroughly. Really appreciate all of them and will definitely be bringing our car back in the future for any tune ups. read more

My hubby & I got our cars fixed . Very attentive , generous & professional. Wouldn't trust anyone else

This place is excellent- I highly recommend their services. I've been going here for several years now for any repair or regular service. Kam is fantastic - very responsive and focused on delivering the best quality at really good value. As someone who knows very little about cars, I trust him to take care of me and my car, and he never disappoints! read more

Good prices, honest work. They send videos and itemized estimates and communicate well. This is my go to shop from now on

These guys came highly recommended as knowledgeable and honest mechanics. These guys took the time to explain to me what was going on, and saved me a ton of money just letting me know that it'd be cheaper to go to our service dealer and get it fixed under warranty. Now, not charging me $5000 to replace my transmission?!? That is honesty. Stellar. read more

As a backyard mechanic (working on cars for 15+ years) I needed some work done (rear main seal) that was best to be done at a shop that had a lift. I searched around and found Tane (pronounced Tahn / Tawn) who had nothing but great reviews. We spoke on the phone and I could tell right off the bat he was a very honest person who I knew I could trust my car with. Long-story short, I received my car back with a newly replaced rear main seal. He also went ahead and replaced the clutch assembly for me for no additional charge since it needed to be removed anyways. A+++++ for service and price. Glad to be able to support local businesses. read more

True to the name. All about community. Tane listens, shares knowledge, then gets the job done. Always reasonably priced. The service is usually pretty quick if they're not busy. But if they are, that's a good sign. Been here twice and will be back again. Hear that Tane? I'll be back!haha read more

I always bring my truck and my wife's car here when we need work done. Great place and even greater people. Can't more good things about it. Highly recommend. read more

This rating is long overdue, but I owe it to the shop and to Kham to offer some solid input... a few months back I had a check engine light come on. My car is a few years old so I didn't anticipate major issues. At that point I had recently moved into the neighborhood, needles to say you are skeptical with new mechanics. Kham was welcoming, thorough and reliable. I consistently questioned the issues and he was patient and on point with his findings. Grateful to have him and his shop in my hood! The issue was resolved in an efficient and professional matter! read more

Holy Moly! This place is great! Tane is excellent with communication and a seemless process. I brought my car into Community Auto Center after seeing so many amazing reviews and was not disappointed. I need a full service expectation before going cross country and even though the car hadn't been serviced in a very long time, he gave me a very reasonable price and a full breakdown of each item and cost (emailed!). I felt completely comfortable and like I was in good hands. What a find! Definitely go to this place for all your car needs. I would give them a higher rating if I could! read more

Kam is the man! Ive been going to him for more than 2 years. Great Service and they explain problems and solutions so it can be understandable for people who don't have the knowledge about cars. read more

Called for an oil change, got an appointment easily and quickly, and was out fast! What I really appreciate is Tane's honesty and integrity. You know he won't cheat you, but will give you an honest assessment of your car's issues. I ask him about other car-related stuff all the time--where to get a window repaired, how to address rust, and he's really quick to respond. Glad to have personable, fast, and honest service! read more

My 2000 Ford Explorer died on the highway and I had to get it towed home. I messaged Community Auto Center, and they agreed to take a look the next day. I was very impressed with Kam's quick communication and appreciated that he kept me updated throughout the day while he replaced my alternator and battery. He was able to fix it same day, and an affordable rate and put me at ease. I will be a return customer and will happily refer this auto shop to others! read more

Kham is the best! Community Auto Center is the only place I went to get anything done to my car. They're reliable, professional, and kind. I have never felt uncomfortable at this place and never uncomfortable with Kham. He is honest and a professional. Its so hard finding an auto shop as a young woman but I'm glad I found this place when I lived in the area. Kham would let me know what my options were and never pressured me to do a service I didn't want. He was very accommodating, sometimes squeezing me in the same day if he could, and kept me in the loop about wait times and progress. I've unfortunately moved and have missed this place since! read more

I first went to Community Auto a couple years back when the owner was grand opening. Very rare to find an honest and humble auto shop. Tane and his team are hard working and will serve you like family and don't try to run up the price! Where can you go to find that kind of care and love! Support local, support good people and support Community Auto! read more

This review is long overdue. As a female, I've had some of the worst experience dealing with auto repair shops. Luckily, I had the best experience with Community Auto Center. After a couple of email exchanges, I took my Mercedes Benz C240 4Matic to Community Auto Center to get what's often referred to as Service A or B. Not only is the owner a responsive and great communicator, he's an excellent technician! He even told me what problems to look for that might need fixing in the near future. And the most important thing is that he's fair with his pricing. At my request, he separated the price estimate between parts and labor. My car is running smoother as a result of his work. I'm glad that I've found an honest, reliable, and responsive technician that I can depend on. read more

My wife took her car in for a check-up and Kham took care of the brakes. We also got spark plugs and an oil change. This shop does it all. The sunroof hasn't worked on her car for 8 years but it was fixed by Community Auto Center in less than 48 hours. Anyone looking for a full service mechanic with reasonable prices and quality work would do well to go to Community Auto Center. It would be well worth it. read more

This place is a gem. I discovered it when my car started making a funny noise one morning, and needed something close by. Kham is awesome. He fixed the part which came loose underneath and helped coordinate with my work schedule. We had a very nice conversation about what else I could do to help my car run smoothly-- He is very informative and helpful. I came back about a year later to do some 60K routine maintenance. The price was reasonable and his communication is next level. He always sends photos and gives very specific details of whats wrong or what needs to be fixed and gets your opinion before proceeding. My car has been sounding great and running so much better, even months after they worked on it. This place is honest and Kham has integrity. I will be back next time I need work. Thank you for building community!! read more

I believe it was Flannery O'Connor who said, "A good mechanic is hard to find." Whatever the case may be, Community Auto is an East Oakland gem. Tane is extremely helpful and communicative, and even texted me pictures of the diagnostic computer's readout, the damage to my old sparkplugs, and when the work was done, a picture of the bill so that there'd be no surprises when I came into the shop. Give Community Auto your business! read more

I had a hard decision to make and how much time and materials to put into an older Prius. These guys ran multiple quotes and did some amazing detective work to find the source of nose in my engine without fully disassembling. They helped me get clear answers at a very fair and reasonable rate, and they told me about options I didn't know existed. This will for sure be my go to shop from now on. read more

Full disclosure: I know the owner personally. Tane (like "John" with a "T") is an all-around fantastic guy. Generous, kind, experienced, and HONEST! The byline for his business is: "Building community through relationship one car at a time." I mean, how great is that? I recently took in my Honda Civic for a blown radiator hose, two new tires, and an oil change. The cost was very competitive, his communication was excellent, and the car runs & sounds great. I cannot recommend Community Auto Center enough. This will be my go-to auto shop from now on. read more

The owner is incredibly knowledgeable and quickly attends the perfect solution to your need. After using my car to move, I had a tire issue and he helped me fix my tire via text! I also learned so much about equipping myself for next time, he is a great mentor and I highly endorse him for customer service and aptitude! read more

Was with a friend who took her vehicle in for some work; never heard of or had any dealings with Community Auto Center. I decided to take a chance and take my truck for some work, which turned out to be one of the best decisions I've ever made. This place has nothing but 5 star glowing rave reviews for all the reasons people posted: Honesty, professionalism, thoroughness, efficiency, fairness. Kham Tane thoroughly explained my issues, updated me with photos and printouts of parts, labor and all costs and helped prioritize the work needed based on urgency/budget. There were no hidden/added costs in the end and diagnostic was waived. Appropriately named COMMUNITY Auto Center--my impression is that Kham Tane is sincerely committed to his community and is giving back in the form of a stellar business that everyone can access. read more

I love this auto center! I started seeing them when I needed to find a shop to change my oil and I keep going back. I'm always greeted by name here, even after my second time calling. They are so responsive via text and phone. It's so easy to text them with any questions I have. They always reply the same day, within business hours. They also explain any diagnoses simply and don't pressure me to buy anything extra, which I really appreciate. And the prices are fair. Overall, I'm happy with my experience at Community Auto Center and recommend going here for any of your car concerns if you live in the area. read more

Kham is awesome - I had a great experience here. It can be intimidating to get your car repaired for anyone but especially as a woman. I never know what I'm walking into or how much I'll be swindled. I have a really worn down car that I don't want to spend any money on, so I was only taking it in for brake light repair and an oil change while there. Kham was honest and texted me with any additional concerns and questions. He didn't try to scare me into repairing my run down car any more than I wanted to. It was done in less than 3 hours. Will continue to support this team and tell my friends. read more

My check engine light came on for my van and I decided to try this shop out and support a small local business. Cam and his wife were so nice and supportive and were able to take care of the issue in a short amount of time. They were extremely professional and Cam is so knowledgeable. He was able to diagnosis the problem quickly and got it resolved within a day. Highly recommend this business and will be back in the future should any problems arise! read more
