Needed to replace springs on my shock/strut assemblies. Care Care Service provided a quote over e-mail and an appointment date. The process and communication was fluid, and pricing was straightforward. Day of the appointment, dropped off the car and got a call later in the day that work was completed, just as promised. Thank you Brett for providing the service - I will be back to this shop for any future car needs! read more

This was my second time coming to Car Care and I wanted to leave a review. The first time I went , I liked the employees , service and price so I went back the other day when my AC failed. Again, friendly employees who listened what I had to say ( sometimes, as a woman, it's hard to find a mechanic who will listen ), fair price and quick wonderful service . I live an hour away now and I will still continue driving out to take my car here ! read more

Brett and his garage repair shop is great/top-notch! The best mix of high quality and rate around! (trust me, I've called around to 35 shops for their labor rates) I've been taking my cars to Precision Auto Care, but I recently bought a cheap 20 year old used car (hey, it only had 107k miles on it!), so I didn't need any premium pricing costs towards its maintenance. So I went about searching for the best deal around (considering I didn't want to put in too much into a car that are in its last years). After an exhaustive search, you can trust me in saying you won't find better (mix of still high quality, but not premium high quality price cost to go with it) -- you ain't gonna beat his/their rate & quality at $120/hr. Brett is an earnest, eager guy who wants to do all he can to help you out. So I imagine the rest of his team/shop is reflective of that. He's on the younger side compared to other mechanics who run their own shop -- who end up really set in their ways and many have become complacent or too presumptive to be open to anything else or more. I brought in that used car to get a good look over and to confirm what the Pre-Purchase Inspection observed about it. He was able to confirm some things, and clear out some other concerns after taking a closer look at it. Most importantly; he was able to catch the things that he should've, and didn't fabricate more merely to pad on costs -- ultimately making/exampling him as trustworthy. He has since fixed/troubleshooted the car having trouble starting (he diagnosed/figured replacing/upgrading the spark plugs; which did the trick), replaced headlights, and simple oil change. In all, I saw that he properly charged the time appropriately with partial to his per/hour rate -- which, again, speaks to his integrity & trustworthiness (as many sleazy underhanded shops would charge a full hour's work even if it took a fraction of the time). He instilled confidence & faith so much that I brought my brand new 2026 SUV to him (which, I imagine, I would've brought to Precision Auto Care in San Leandro normally to do the high end care) to get the catalytic converter shield installed. His guy did a good job (at the very least I have no complaints, but I'm not so knowledgeable to know much more of a difference). My only qualm about it is I was quoted 2 hours of work, but I did end up having to hang around and wait for 3 hours. But, again to speak to impressive work ethic & integrity, was charged 2 hours. His place processes with impressive paperwork, listing every single aspect looked at and worked on, pricing, cost break down. What makes me a bit nervous is that when I sign for the estimate, it doesn't show cost on it; so if any disputes, any prearranged pricing/cost wouldn't be binding. If he gave less of a trustworthiness vibe, it would be best to insist it be on the estimate. But I get the feeling that I imagine if there was any dispute, Brett would do his absolute best and bend backwards to understand, accommodate, and make it right (even if it would go against established practices). Parking is very challenging. If you can't simply pull in, I suggest calling and talking to him to figure out how he wants it (it's what I've had to do each time). A few times, he would move his VW car from the street parking spot in front of his shop to place my car, others he had used the unused parking lot around the corner (which has since been fenced off; so that's a no-go any longer), and last time he moved a car at the front of the garage to have my SUV enter -- if you aren't confident or new to your car, I HIGHLY urge & suggest you simply have him bring it in; I know for sure I would damage my car (after I initially gave an attempt), while he successfully did it with confidence/experience. And when the car was done, they placed the car in the aforementioned unused parking lot (no-go anymore), or this last time around the corner down a whole block. I drive the 8 miles just to bring it to Brett and Car Care Service; because he offers the best quality service at the best rate around -- being eager to help, decent, high work ethic/trustworthiness, capable, and I know I don't have anything to worry about with him/them. read more

This shop was recommended to me by a guy who works at Autozone on Park Steet. I'm so glad I brought my Honda here. Brett and his crew know what they're doing. I had an issue with my AC unit- the center vents stopped working and they solved the problem without any drama or games. They had to keep the car over night but they resolved this issue and were very fair on pricing. I was going to take it to a dealer but soooo glad I brought it here instead, thanks to Autozone! Car Care Service knows what they're doing and they're an honest, long time business here in Alameda. read more

I took my car in to get the brakes done after being told by the dealership that I was gonna need them done soon. The employees at car care service said that they would take a look and then call me with a quote. I got a call about 20 minutes after dropping it off saying that I really did not need my brakes done yet. They explained to me when the best time to get them done is, what to look out for, etc. I can't express how much I appreciate the honesty of the employees at car care service. They told me, I'm not gonna sell you something you don't need. When money is tight and expenses are high, that type of honesty can really make someone's day, week, or month! Bret and team were a pleasure to work with. I needed standard 45K service for my Toyota Rav4 hybrid. I got a very reasonable quote over yelp and scheduled an appt through yelp. Car Care Service is fantastic. I'm real picky about where I get my cars serviced and often drive 45-60 mins to shops I trust. These guys are only 10 mins away so I thought I'd try them out. Brought my car in for an oil change and tire rotation. Was told it would be 60-90 mins - went to eat at a favorite coffee shop 1 block away. Less than an hour later my car was ready. Oil change was very reasonable and he told me I really didnt need the tire rotation. Zero upsell or cross sell (I'm always on the lookout for that)! Could have made some easy $ on the tire rotation but didnt. Great, honest service from a picky customer. They've definitely earned my business. read more

I was in the area to check out a used car. They let me bing it in the day I called and gave it a Pre-purchase inspection. They were very nice, reasonably priced, and helped inform me on the issues the car had. I would definitely recommend these guys! read more

Brett and crew are honest and very professional. No confusing jargon and they explain things really clearly. Recommendations the dealership wanted to do were not even needed due to how low mileage our cars had (they also inspected and did their due diligence). They also fixed the electrical issue we had with our windshield wipers wire chewed by a rodent. The cost to fix this was less than 10% of the cost of what the dealership was estimating and in half the time. Since then, this has been my go-to and trusted shop for all our cars' needs. read more

Owner Brett and his office manager Long made sure I could ride around the hot Oakland streets feeling the cool air running through my car. No more sweaty car rides home from San Francisco. No more smelling like a day's work before entering the classroom at 9am. No more friends, especially my small mother-in-law feeling like they're going to die of heat when cruising with me. These guys were efficient and effective, holding and repairing my car air conditioner within less than 24 hours. And yes, they had the passion, the parts, and the affordable prices to fix the new model of air conditioner in my 2018 Honda Civic. No shady work, up-selling, or long holding times. They charge a low $110 diagnostic fee but then waived it once I agreed to have them handle the repairs. Brett is a young guy living his dream and leading a life of honest service for the people! They charge $110.00 to give estimates/quotes. Super illegal in California. They don't use that money toward the repair. I brought my car in because my AC needed to be recharged. All I needed was more coolant. They told me it was $110.00 just to look at it. No thanks. Pass!!! read more

Brett and his team are great. I had purchased a used car about 4 months ago and I noticed a few things that I wanted a better analysis on from a mechanic's perspective. I took the car to a few different shops that didn't think much of my concerns. That's when I decided to give Car Care Service a call after reading other reviews and doing some research. I discussed with Brett about the items I wanted to have check out. He was patient, communicative, caring and listening. He performed some visual inspections and we did a test drive. Afterwards, he confirmed some of the issues or provided other alternatives that could be causing them. He then gave me an idea of what services should be done when and we came up with a timeline of what items to tackle when for replacement. You can tell he is passionate about cars and provides great care. His garage has some cool project cars. He does not upsell services either and will give you his best opinion of what to do when. I will be taking my cars here going forward. Thank you to Brett and his team. read more

My car was leaking fluid so stopped by here a few days on a whim to get same-day service. I was really worried about the expense of the possible problem. Turns out, it was a simple solution. I love car care! They are a dependable and reliable shop to entrust your car with. I used to live in the neighborhood and started going there as it was convenient, and then moved near the zoo closer to San Leandro 7 years ago and though is a bit of distance away, I still continue to take my car here because they have competitive prices and very importantly really dependable work. I feel very safe in their hands and never feel like they're trying to upsell me anything especially when I just want my car to work and I'm not at all knowledgeable about car mechanics. Brett is extremely professional and to boot a really nice person! I just wanted to belatedly show my appreciation and also let others know this place is certainly a gem! read more

I want to call out the amazing excellent service I just received from Brett at Car Care Service. It all started on Tuesday at 5 p.m. when my car lost power and made grinding sounds while accelerating onto the freeway. Once the tow truck finally arrived, I found that almost every place was closed. I kept calling around and luckily found Brett at Car Care Service. Technically, they should have been closing, but they told me to go ahead and bring the car in. I think they kept the door open long enough for me and the tow truck to get there. I was absolutely sure my transmission had failed and was terrified it was going to come with a very painful price tag. Brett took the next two days to do a full diagnostic and check everything. He identified two broken axles in my car and was able to get it fixed and back on the road within 48 hours. He was very frank and upfront about all the work and recommendations, without being pushy about any services. I was ecstatic and very happy with their work. The car is running beautifully. They were even able to look into two other issues I had asked them about. Their professionalism, amazing demeanor, and friendliness make them a shop I will happily return to again and again. read more

If i can give this business a million stars i would. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. I did my 120k service and the one that worked on my car was the owner, Brett. He took his time explaining to me everything that he has to do for my car. That wasn't so easy because I'm just a girl that knows nothing about cars. I'm the one that said my "genie lamp" light appeared near speed tracker. He was very patient at explaining to me what are those and he also addressed some of my concerns that was not part of the service. He started at 10am and finished by 6pm. I would say he did it fast because I was expecting to come back another day and was pleasantly surprised when he said he could finish it and I don't have to come back. He also gave me a very reasonable price for everything that was done. I would say that they are very honest with their pricing and unlike other businesses, they will not sell you anything that you don't need. I would recommend this business to anyone and specially to people that don't know anything about cars. read more

I came in a few months ago because my Prius wasn't starting without a jumpstart so I made an appointment with Brett for him to check what was going on. He informed me about a battery change and was super transparent with what everything costed and if I approve of the transaction. Brett is trustworthy and cares about his customers. I also asked if he could do a whole car checkup to see if I need to fix anything else and he charged half an hour of labor which was super affordable. Brett told me my car was in perfect shape! I will be coming here for all my car needs! I'll be back soon for an oil change haha. Thanks Brett! read more

These guys were super quick, super nice, and super fast! I would definitely go back for my next service.

Great work, done fast, and the price was just right! Needed an oil change, and a tire rotation and gave them a call and was told to come on over. When I arrived, I was told the work wouldn't take more than an hour and a half, so I headed across the street to the coffee shop and waited as the work was being done. When I went back to pick up my car I was apologized to, and was told that it was a few minutes away from being ready as they were topping off the other fluids free of charge, which made me feel like I was the one getting over. Once it was ready they let me know they also did a full brake inspection, and checked the tire treads to ensure I was good to go until the next time I come back.I left feeling completely satisfied, knowing that we have a crew of trustworthy, reliable, and experienced mechanics that are willing to got the proverbial "extra mile" to put a smile on your face, so for that I say thank you to Brett and his staff! read more

Fantastic customer service. The shop is orderly and clean, it is a good indicator of the great quality/ value of work performed.

I contacted them about replacing a damaged side mirror and they responded promptly and answered my questions. They had no issues with me providing the replacement parts and said they would be happy to only provide labor if that was all I needed. I had no problem securing an appointment and they were able to see me on time. Despite having a very full garage, the work was completed in around an hour and a half. The labor rate was also very reasonable and there were no surprise fees or charges. Overall I'm pretty pleased with my experience and this is the first place I'll consider when the time comes for regular maintenance. read more

I needed my battery changed - simply and well done. Good, friendly service... honest vibes.

I called for a fuel pump replacement for my 2013 BMW 328i on the morning of Jan 20th. It was a holiday so I was unsure if they were even open. I spoke with Brett and I was told that I could bring my car in and he even gave me a quote, which was very reasonable. I love the fact that this establishment is extremely professional, friendly and very knowledgeable. I had my car towed there because it wouldn't start. What else I REALLY loved was: 1. Got a call from Brett acknowledging that mt car had arrived by tow truck. 2. They called me later that day to tell me that the part was arriving later on. 3. They called me to tell me that the part arrived late and that my car would be ready the next afternoon. On Tuesday afternoon, I got a call that my car was ready. From now on I will bring my car here. I was using Zentrum, in Oakland, but since moving to Alameda, this is our go-to place for auto repairs. So, thank you guys at Car Care Service for an job well done. Oh and my car's performance is OUTSTANDING! I can definitely tell the difference. read more

How have I forgotten to review this place? This review is so long overdue, and well deserved. I brought my Prius in for an oil change, which was done efficiently. My car is humming along beautifully, thanks to Brett's work. I wanted to wait a few months after the work was done on my car to write a review because I wanted to ensure the repair had/has staying power and it does. A few months back, my car (a 2009 Scion tc) had trouble starting and I realized I depleted the engine oil. I filled it myself but the car would not start as normal. It would work sometimes and sometimes not. Then it stopped working altogether unless my husband jump started my car. Therefore I took it to Brett, who diagnosed my car as needing a new battery. Sure enough, Brett replaced my battery with a solid one for a good price and it's been starting easily without any noise or issues. I called around several mechanics and his pricing was one of the best for the battery replacement. I appreciated that Brett explained everything that he was doing on my car and was quite responsive. Since I was happy was his work, a few weeks after that I went to him for an oil and filter change (now this was on the high end at about $79). However, he topped it off with full synthetic oil (which has extra additives) as I requested, which is pricier as it would allow me to get an oil change closer to driving 5,000 additional miles (rather than at 3,000 miles with a regular oil change). Also I had him change the cabin air filter and engine air filter on that same visit. So... altogether I walked out the door of this visit with a $164 bill and some change for all parts and labor (including the oil change). I trusted his work and the quality of his parts. I'm happy with it overall. I plan return to Brett when I need future work on my car. I previously visited mechanic in San Jose, CA to replace the brake pads on my car and it made an annoying sound anytime I braked. I realized that this mechanic's cheaper price quote meant he used inferior brake pads with metal instead of the ceramic kind that allow for a noise-free stop. I had to pay another mechanic to replace my brake pads soon after that work was done in San Jose to stop the annoying screeching sound when I braked. I definitely learned my lesson, cheaper is not always the best. FYI: Check out Brett's detailed, informative response to Mary W's 3-star review on 7/7/19. It's so professional. And he patiently explains everything. Love it!! The positive reviews and his responses to his customers led me coming to this business in the first place. Appreciate your help Brett! read more
