Yum - this is the perfect filling yet healthy option for lunch in the Merchandise Mart! Both days I was in the office, I wanted something light yet filling, and Just Salad scratched that itch. I love that they offer several suggested signature salads and bowls so you don't have to build your own each time! I got the Thai Chicken Crunch first, subbed a few things in and out, and it was delish. The second day I got the Caesar again again was able to sub in and out a few things, which I really appreciated. The team was speedy and accurate even with tons of people in line for the lunch rush. It's a great quick, healthy option at a reasonable price!

LOOOOOOOOVE JUST SALAD AT THE MERCHANDISE MART!! Oh la la!! Allow me to please sing the grand praises of this establishment. From the service to the quality to the portion sizes, I am impressed to the great moon and back!! Allow me to please tell the story of my great experience with Just Salad... For nearly six years, I quickly sauntered by this restaurant at least two times daily. It is hard for me to try a new place because I am very rigid and specific, demanding only the best when it regards my nourishment. So I never ordered. But one day, about two months ago, as I browsed a food delivery app, I noticed an advertisement for Just Salad, and I thought, "Oh such pretty salads!!" So I googled Just Salad and found their very own app which offered a $5 credit for the first order. After researching ingredients (all acceptable to me) and reading reviews, I excitedly ordered the Plant Power salad, delete the honey mustard dressing, adding 4x miso ginger dressing (I like a lot of dressing!). When I arrived to fetch my salad, I noticed an amusement park-sized line wrapped around the establishment; and I quickly ventured to the pickup section where a gentlemen so efficiently and properly announced customer names as he placed the orders either into the customers' hands or onto the to-go rack. I have since learned the name of this gentleman: Mike from corporate. Store managers Victor and Linda also passionately provide great service. In fact, all of the employees offer a divine experience!! AND THE SALAD IS ENORMOUS AND DELICIOUS, exactly something that my lunchtime needs and cravings command. I behave mostly as a vegan, and this restaurant, despite serving animal products, never cross contaminates into my vegan salad. It is always clean and wonderful. AND I HAVE ORDERED NEARLY EVERY WEEKDAY FOR THE PAST TWO MONTHS. HOW VERY BEAUTIFUL!! Please accept my review as a golden stamp on Just Salad at the Merchandise Mart. Absolutely exquisite!!

Affordable and flavorful Indian food (4/5 Green Stars)…read moreBombay Eats began as Bombay Wraps in 2010 and has just completed a name-change and rebranding. Considering the old name, I ordered wraps, figuring they do them well - and they did! I ordered the cheese paneer wrap ($6.99) and the potato cauliflower wrap ($6.49) to go and they were assembled fast in front of my eyes. The server explained that the mild sauce was a 3/10 while the spicy was 7/10, so I went with the mild and I'm glad I did as it had a bit of a kick! The wraps (choice of paratha or whole wheat roti) themselves are delicious and the spicy fillings are nicely balanced with some shredded cabbage/lettuce. For $17 including tax + tip it was a lot of food - a large dinner for one or lunch for two. I highly recommend Bombay Eats for quick flavorful Indian street food and will visit again when I (hopefully) make it back to Chicago. I want to try all of their "messy" sides next. Messy sweet potato fries, topped with paneer, tikka masala sauce, chutney & fresh cilantro? Yes please! I'm also rating Bombay Eats 4/5 Green Stars for social and environmental impact, based on the following: * Bombay Eats seems to be a well-loved by locals and the owners are known as a decent people. * They have a Bombay Cares program where they participate in fundraisers. Coming up in June - the Alzheimer's Association. * A good spot for vegans and vegetarians. The website has a nice guide (vegan, vegetarian, dairy-free, Halal, etc.) to each component (wrap, filling, sauce, etc.) so everything's clear. * The biggest thing that Bombay Eats could do for the planet is to stick with chicken as the main meat offering and ditch the beef and lamb. The environmental footprints (carbon, land, etc.) of beef and lamb are more than10 times higher than those of chicken. It would be nice to see seitan or other plant proteins instead of the beef and lamb. * Packaging for my wraps was fairly minimal: foil-coated paper and a small paper bag.

Has anyone else noticed the Cava-fication of fast-casual dining? I am not exactly complaining, I…read morehappen to like Cava! However, I don't love that such places almost always: Have high prices, exclusively large portions, and at times, less-than-stellar quality. Enter Bombay Eats! Don't get me wrong, they have bowls too, if that's what you're into, but they also have rolls and wraps. What makes these even better is that they are very reasonably priced (~$6.50/each), and a smaller portion without making one feel guilty or weird for ordering a kids meal. The website states "1 wrap = a snack. 1 wrap + side or 2 wraps = a meal" Not wanting to be stuffed, I ordered a single Chicken Reshmi Wrap, Spicy, in a Flaky Paratha. The bread is legit! It is warm and slightly flaky, being removed fresh from a hot griddle, rather than from a bag. The protein was tender, flavorful, and in ample amounts. The veggies were fresh and tasty (the pickled onions, for example, were well-marinated). As for sauces, I only responded to "Spicy or mild" with "Spicy" and got something perfectly sauced with mild, gently warming heat. The service is polite and efficient, no complaints there. The vibe is simple, and has a good use of color to keep from being depressing. Everything is also very clean. Finally, I appreciate the large container of water and plastic cups. Final verdict: Bombay Eats has done something remarkable. It took a concept that was done to death thanks to trends (I suppose?), and has refined it just enough to give me cravings as I write this review.

A cool sports bar where you can stay awhile and enjoy the viewing. They have a rooftop dining area too. It was a hot night so I didn't go up there but next time I definitely will. Inside has great air conditioning so it was a relief to come inside. The bar has an unassuming vibe with plastic water cups, plastic silverware, and disposable plates. The food is excellent!!!! We started with fried pickles and they were so good! The chips and salsa were pretty good too. I loved my southwest salad! Everything was so fresh and tasty. You can add a protein so I added their black bean burger and it was delicious! The chipotle ranch dressing was perfect. My friends enjoyed their chicken arugula salad too. Fantastic cocktails! My friends loved their extra dirty martinis. I had the Japanese Slipper cocktail and I really loved it and would order it again. I appreciate that they give you a pitcher with water for your table. They don't have a happy hour but they have some fun daily specials. I was there on a Friday and they had a $5 Pilsner and $10 pizzas. I think this will be such a fun place to watch sports with friends. The red line is close by. I was down the street for an event and I'm really glad we stumbled upon this place. Such a wonderful surprise!

I loved the vibe and decor in here. I also loved the menu design, although it is a bit chaotic to read. It was super crowded in here at around 4pm on a Saturday and it felt like they really had us stuffed in there with the tables super close to each other. The service and food were average. I tried the french onion soup and that was really good! I ordered the buffalo chicken tenders and I didn't like that they just drizzled the buffalo sauce over the tenders. Either drench them in buffalo sauce or just don't put any on and let me dip them in myself lol. I don't think they were worth the $18 price either. They tasted okay and the fries were meh (even though they charge extra for fries, there was nothing special about them). Maybe I'd come back to try their milkshakes and get the french onion soup again. My sisters got cheeseburgers and liked them, which is what they are known for apparently. They're also known for their house-made potato chips, which were pretty interesting and super crunchy.

We saunter up to our chosen restaurant only to find a sign on the door that says, "closed for private event." Did I mention I was hangry? My husband suggests Jake Melnick's. It was within walking distance ... did I mention it was raining that night? And I was hangry? I was game for anything at that point. We arrived and waited probably four minutes for a table. A couple of the adults ordered a beer, the others ordered a Coke. We ordered a large pretzel and our mains. The pretzel was so good. All the meals were outstanding (a sliced brisket sandwich, some wings, chicken tenders, onion rings and a burger). Service was great. It was a little loud when we first arrived as there was an intense Illinois State basketball game on but as soon as the game ended, it was much quieter. We really enjoyed our meal at Jake's!

No notes. The sandwich had candied bacon on it with this perfect sweet flavor, and it normally comes with honey Dijon--but I don't do Dijon, so I swapped it for this garlic sauce ‍ And when I say that garlic tanginess mixed with the sweet candied bacon... whew. Chef's kiss. Absolute perfection. My boyfriend got the steak wok bowl with corn, broccoli, brown rice, and some other veggies--and I definitely stole a few bites It was SO good. Like... flavorful, fresh, just everything. The whole vibe? Perfect for a lunch date. The ambiance was cute, relaxed, and just right And I loved that they serve room temperature water (because ice? not my thing ‍) But let's talk about the real star--our waiter Eli He was AMAZING. Super personable, funny, and just a whole vibe. He had the cutest red cat-eye nails and burgundy hair accents--like, style on point He told us he manages both the Gold Coast and River North locations, so I'm definitely hoping we run into him again. And when me and my boyfriend were holding hands at the end, he goes, "Aww this is so cute. I'm not jealous though" we all cracked up. Just made the experience even better. Listen... 5 stars is not enough. It's just not. If you've been thinking about going--THIS IS YOUR SIGN. Go. I promise you won't regret it
