Ambiance - intimate, cozy, offers bar Service - our server was super nice, loved that they timed the burgers to come out at same time Food - Bacon Cheddarburger was slightly too dry even though I ordered medium rare, also lacking in some kind of sauce

I so want to like RJ Grunts. Tonight's tuna melt is not going to get it done. A tablespoon of tuna over non-melted cheese is unfortunately disappointing.

Do not let the tinted windows around this restaurant deter you from coming here as they are probably open. Stopped in here after passing by near Lincoln Park Zoo for a burger and was not disappointed. The young man who was my waiter was knowledgeable, patient and attentive to customers who may be coming in for the first time trying to digest a very hectic menu. If you're able to maneuver it (you will be able to, I'm being dramatic), I would suggest the Grunt Burger. I ordered it rare with a side of chips and I was very pleased. The burger was cooked perfectly and the fried onions and sauce that accompany the patty are delicious. The chips are the perfect side dish with this. These are the kind of chips that are crunchy around the edges but soft and chewy in the middle because of the way they're cooked in the oil. The atmosphere of the bar is very homey and the walls are cluttered (in a good way) with Chicago celebrities who have stopped in for a bit to eat, as well as newspaper articles and Chicago themed decorations. Very good place and would definitely come back if I'm in the area or after a trip to the zoo.

Our server was Ryan. He was on point. Excellent service. Food is always on point! I love their French dip sandwich with their horseradish sauce. The atmosphere, fun music and food were all perfect!

What a wonderful little gem! We decided to give their happy hour a try and while we were there, we tried their burger and tuna melt. The happy hour was amazing. All the drinks on the happy hour menu are five dollars, and they were very well made. Our server, Jill, was so friendly and attentive; she checked on us frequently and always with a big smile Thank you, Jill... it was a wonderful experience and we can't wait to return soon!

Beautiful Saturday night after a nice Lincoln Pk stroll. Love coming to my very, happiest, place where the service is phenomenal and kind, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. The music is always, always, great - even have their own RJ Grunts Spotify acct ALL of this before the food even comes. The food is exceptional. Always fresh because it literally is always served and to a consistently frequented clientele. Burgers are delicious. Onion rings big and nice crunch breading. Kale Salad wonderful - where I added quinoa, garbanzo beans, sweet potato wedges, red onions and a side of fresh delicious tuna salad; a total of 10 scrumptious items. Nachos with homemade chili and melted cheddar are topped with lettuce, tomatoes and homemade guacamole. Salmon is very fresh cut and delicious - I'm not a sugar fan so removed maple glaze and it's always accompanied w a side of asparagus that is always cooked perfectly warm, with a nice crunch. My husband loves RJ's chicken noodle soup, as I love their French Onion soup - always homemade and hearty with tantalizing mouthwatering flavors that have you coming back for more. Manager is professional, friendly and hands-on and Staff esp. server Abby are the best. Have dined here for many years and will continue to visit for many, many, more.

Unbeatable Happy Hour deal! All of their signature cocktails are $5. They do not allow modifications to the drinks, and you can't just get classic vodka soda. No food on HH menu. Less of a positive experience with their food, the fries were stringy, and soggy. 1/5 My friend said her Chili was good, but it was a bit cold. Lovely bar ambiance and vibe, fun decorations. Service was fine!

Solid! For those not from the Chicago area, like myself, this is a must-visit. It is within walking distance from the zoo. My friends and I ended up stopping in just for a quick drink and everyone was super satisfied! A cider, margarita, amaretto sour, and cosmo were ordered. All great! The interior is so cool, lot's of old photographs and unique decor to gander at while you eat/drink. In the future I'd love to come back for a burger. I was EYEING the table by me's spread of them. Looks killer.

For a burger and brunch place this was great. This place has a "local" feel. I had an old school vibe. We got there around 11 on a Saturday and they were serving brunch items and their regular menu. I tried the Belgium waffles with a side of bacon. The waffles were great and the bacon were thick cut slabs of goodness. My son got a cheeseburger with fries, pretty standard but he enjoyed it. We also shared a fudge sundae. It wasn't the best ever, but still hit the spot. I would definitely recommend this place. It's within walking distance from the Lincoln Zoo.

The virtual salad bar is the best. Very crowded interior but a classic. Always go after the zoo

We stopped by RJ Grunts on a whim before heading to the lake to see the beavers, and it was the perfect pre-adventure meal. The place has this great vibe overall and nothing short of big character. The menu is like a safari hunt. It feels like flipping through a diner-themed Where's Waldo book. It's packed with personality, and finding what you want is half the fun. Once you do, though, the food hits every time. Overall, it's a great place for a drink and comfort food. Just try to go on the weekday before it gets too crowded! -AD

Located near Lincoln Park Zoo, this neighborhood favorite is cozy and vintage with past waitstaff members posted on the wall. The menu descriptions are very descriptive and the portion for fries are huge. The sandwiches, shakes, and chili are legendary. It's extremely busy and yet you can find a table. The chandeliers give the place a splash of class. Staff was not wearing masks. The rest rooms are gender neutral. Parking nearby can be an issue. The special Thanksgiving sandwich was delicious with moist turkey, cranberry sauce, and tasty gravy.

    Smash Burger

Finally stopped by RJ Grunts. The place is very functional they have pictures of their past waiters/waitresses on the walls. We went with: - Cup of chili - Smash Burger - Buffalo Chicken Wrap The chili was warming on a cold windy day. While the Buffalo Chicken Wrap was surprisingly light. Not the best burger in the city but still was very good, it was a special so not on the menu.

Affordable and flavorful Indian food (4/5 Green Stars)…read moreBombay Eats began as Bombay Wraps in 2010 and has just completed a name-change and rebranding. Considering the old name, I ordered wraps, figuring they do them well - and they did! I ordered the cheese paneer wrap ($6.99) and the potato cauliflower wrap ($6.49) to go and they were assembled fast in front of my eyes. The server explained that the mild sauce was a 3/10 while the spicy was 7/10, so I went with the mild and I'm glad I did as it had a bit of a kick! The wraps (choice of paratha or whole wheat roti) themselves are delicious and the spicy fillings are nicely balanced with some shredded cabbage/lettuce. For $17 including tax + tip it was a lot of food - a large dinner for one or lunch for two. I highly recommend Bombay Eats for quick flavorful Indian street food and will visit again when I (hopefully) make it back to Chicago. I want to try all of their "messy" sides next. Messy sweet potato fries, topped with paneer, tikka masala sauce, chutney & fresh cilantro? Yes please! I'm also rating Bombay Eats 4/5 Green Stars for social and environmental impact, based on the following: * Bombay Eats seems to be a well-loved by locals and the owners are known as a decent people. * They have a Bombay Cares program where they participate in fundraisers. Coming up in June - the Alzheimer's Association. * A good spot for vegans and vegetarians. The website has a nice guide (vegan, vegetarian, dairy-free, Halal, etc.) to each component (wrap, filling, sauce, etc.) so everything's clear. * The biggest thing that Bombay Eats could do for the planet is to stick with chicken as the main meat offering and ditch the beef and lamb. The environmental footprints (carbon, land, etc.) of beef and lamb are more than10 times higher than those of chicken. It would be nice to see seitan or other plant proteins instead of the beef and lamb. * Packaging for my wraps was fairly minimal: foil-coated paper and a small paper bag.

However, I don't love that such places almost always: Have high prices, exclusively large portions, and at times, less-than-stellar quality. Enter Bombay Eats! Don't get me wrong, they have bowls too, if that's what you're into, but they also have rolls and wraps. What makes these even better is that they are very reasonably priced (~$6.50/each), and a smaller portion without making one feel guilty or weird for ordering a kids meal. The website states "1 wrap = a snack. 1 wrap + side or 2 wraps = a meal" Not wanting to be stuffed, I ordered a single Chicken Reshmi Wrap, Spicy, in a Flaky Paratha. The bread is legit! It is warm and slightly flaky, being removed fresh from a hot griddle, rather than from a bag. The protein was tender, flavorful, and in ample amounts. The veggies were fresh and tasty (the pickled onions, for example, were well-marinated). As for sauces, I only responded to "Spicy or mild" with "Spicy" and got something perfectly sauced with mild, gently warming heat. The service is polite and efficient, no complaints there. The vibe is simple, and has a good use of color to keep from being depressing. Everything is also very clean. Finally, I appreciate the large container of water and plastic cups. Final verdict: Bombay Eats has done something remarkable. It took a concept that was done to death thanks to trends (I suppose?), and has refined it just enough to give me cravings as I write this review.

Chef's kiss. Absolute perfection. My boyfriend got the steak wok bowl with corn, broccoli, brown rice, and some other veggies--and I definitely stole a few bites It was SO good. Like... flavorful, fresh, just everything. The whole vibe? Perfect for a lunch date. The ambiance was cute, relaxed, and just right And I loved that they serve room temperature water (because ice? not my thing ‍) But let's talk about the real star--our waiter Eli He was AMAZING. Super personable, funny, and just a whole vibe. He had the cutest red cat-eye nails and burgundy hair accents--like, style on point He told us he manages both the Gold Coast and River North locations, so I'm definitely hoping we run into him again. And when me and my boyfriend were holding hands at the end, he goes, "Aww this is so cute. I'm not jealous though" we all cracked up. Just made the experience even better. Listen... 5 stars is not enough. It's just not. If you've been thinking about going--THIS IS YOUR SIGN. Go. I promise you won't regret it

Our friend said one of her favorite places to suggest to visitors was Doc B's Restaurant. So, we gave it a try. The menu includes a wide variety of salads, wings, wraps, sandwiches and, my favorite, burgers. I was with a group of 4 and we all ordered burgers - and none of us opted for the same burger. So, our little group got to try 4 different burgers. And all four were delicious. Three of us ordered with a side of fries - also delicious. Great place for dinner in the Windy City.
