I always look forward to my visits to "Just Salad" because the energy and vibe is incredibly welcoming. The staff, straight down the line ( from the first employee who takes your order, to the person who creates your individual salad, to the crew who chops and dresses your salad, to the cashiers) are always very pleasant, accommodating and efficient. I love the huge selections which always include a variety of choices and excellent dressings with frequent new additions. I prayed for a salad place to come to the neighborhood and my prayers were answered with Just Salad, which is on my corner! The ingredients are fresh and delicious but what makes it really delicious is the staff. Barry White, Jason and Chris are my salad super stars, always recommending good dressing combos and generally making the whole experience fun. They always have smiles on their faces and make my day. I have been to many locations in Brooklyn and usually there is a lot of attitude and the food is tasteless. The environment in this location was very customer friendly. All my needs were met and even when I could not make a decision, they were very patient with me. Everything was yummo. I wanted to give a compliment to the manager about the great service I received it turns out it was the manager Quanneisha who made such a delicious salad. The food is good-- delivery is AWFUL. Takes over an hour every single time. Last time we did delivery-- the delivery guy handed our food to a random person outside? Unbelievably, the worst food poisoning I have ever had in my entire life. I cannot believe this filthy establishment with dirty windows and a bad smell exists in Park Slope and has not been shut down by the health authorities. I have vomited a dozen times since eating the salad and have a high fever, dizziness and chills. I will be filing a formal complaint with the health department tomorrow. For $12 I received a sad, wilted-looking salad and the realization that I could've had a burrito.

I moved to Park Slope in August and came in to get a salad for lunch and I immediately noticed a pretty undesirable smell to the place. I ordered a salad and it tasted fine and all the ingredients seemed fresh, but I just couldn't get past the smell, and the rather miserable seeming employees. It's been several months now and I decided to give them a try again. I immediately noticed that foul smell was gone, and there was a friendly young guy with samples of new menu items as I entered. I also noticed that the manager/owner was around the two days I came here for lunch recently. My go-to salad is the turkey health Cobb and I enjoyed it both times. I also really enjoyed the sample of the new avocado toast that I got to try the two times I've been back. It seems like this place has made some menu and oversight changes, cleaned the place up, and is on the uptrend. It's a convenient lunch spot for me to get a decent sized salad so I'm happy to see the improvements. read more

Why, why, why, why, why do I keep ordering from this place?? I want to support it. I want to make it work. But literally (and I am not misusing this word) every time I order, something gets messed up. From almost 2 hours to deliver a salad, to missing items, dressing in the salad when I clicked on the side, repeated calls from them about various questions about the order that further delay it. I've had mostly decent experiences here but not today. After today I'm not going back. Nothing severe to report, simply a poor and unacceptable experience. I ordered my salad and noticed before it was chopped that some of the salad greens in my bowl had blackened edges. I pointed it out to the worker and they replaced the entire bowl with better greens. Fine. Then I looked at the avocados: mushy and turning brown. For a $10+ salad it's ridiculous to try to hand off less than pristine ingredients to customers. I'm not certain but I think the manager was working back there keeping an eye on things and she could clearly could see the blackened edges on my greens yet did nothing to correct this. This suggests to me that the standards there are inadequate so from now on I'm going elsewhere for prepared salads. read more

This location needs a manager on duty or a new one. Over the past 3 years I would say 4 out of 5 times I visit there's something lacking compared to other locations. A few examples: The staff too busy finishing their conversation before acknowledging a customer. Inappropriate conversation or horseplay by staff. Getting the order wrong while I'm ordering right in front of them. The tables never look clean. Staff acting like having to refill items is the hardest job in the world. I wish that was the hardest part of my job. Why don't they refill in between customers when they see items getting low instead of standing around chatting? Today the kale, chicken and cranberries were practically empty and there wasn't a customer before I walked. Before chopping my salads today I asked if there were cranberries because I couldn't see them like usual. The guy moved the romaine around and said yes. When my husband started eating in the car he commented that they forgot his cranberries. I looked into mine and noticed a few pieces. I told him I had a few and moving his around he said, yeah a few lil pieces. I'm assuming the lady divided the leftover cranberries between the two salads instead of refilling the container to add the correct amount. That's not ok when you're being charged for toppings and you've been to Just Salad enough to recognize the difference. I use this location when I'm in the area but considering never returning. My rating is based over the past 3 years not just today's visit. read more

How have I not reviewed Just Salad until now?! Just Salad was a most enthusiastically welcomed addition to 7th Ave when it arrived in the last two years. The quality is pretty consistent across the board. I was SUPER Into the immunity salad which disappeared from the menu sometime early last year. *sad face* Now I get the falafel salad or the mediterranean mix. The last two visits it seems like not enough people are working. I did not have to wait that long but I feel bad for the woman working because she was running back and forth between the assembly area (before your salad ingredients are brought to the chopper station) and the register. During rush hour they definitely have enough people working. If you live within reasonable walking distance I would just walk there and pick up. The one time I did delivery it took a long time and I felt the sad was not as good as when you get it. For $1 I got one of the reusable bowls and I get 2 free basic additions with my salad. Not much room to eat in. If you are over at the hospital I would def check it out-it is one of the healthier/fresher options in this price range. read more

I'm a frequent customer at this location. For the past two weeks, the AC hasn't been on there despite the summer heat. I asked one of the workers about it and she said the management had promised to get the AC fixed, but evidently it hasn't happened yet. There weren't even any portable fans to help cool the place off, just the one ceiling fan. The temperature was already unbearable in the short time I had to wait for my to-go order, so I can't imagine what it must be like for the workers who are there all day. They're invariably friendly, organized, and hard-working, and it's appalling to see them being neglected like this. read more

The food/salad itself is OK. I'd put it a tier below Chop't on the list of current trendy chopped salad joints. Also a plus for having the re-usable bowls. However, there are the major issues of 1) getting exactly what you ordered and 2) getting it in a timely fashion. Multiple orders placed for pick-up via Seamless here, and not once was the order ready during the estimated time slot. Customer service in this regard is poor to non-existent. Staff seem either overwhelmed and unable to deal with the problem or just flat out do not care that your order is not ready on-time when you only have X amount of time on your lunch break. To boot, they are accurate with your order maybe 50% of the time (and this is via Seamless). Again, staff seem unable to deal with this problem in a timely fashion if you bring it up, so why bother. This place is no longer one of my lunch options. Maybe its OK during off-hours, but I can't support a franchise that consistently gets orders wrong and doesn't even get them to you on-time. read more

I regularly go to Just Salad, but this location may be going downhill. For starters, you are greeted by the smell of decaying vegetable matter when you walk in the door. I ordered the arugula, but stopped the server as soon as I saw it was mostly yellow. Hello? How did no one notice this? I asked her if she had any fresh and she told me she just put that in. Wow. Then she proceeded to serve the next person in line instead of continuing with my order. When she finally returned to me she gave me attitude. So, they clearly need to check and refresh their greens so they aren't yellow or decaying, and retrain their servers as to what customer service means. I'm a big meat eater and was never much of a salad person before. However, after trying a couple of salad combos from Just Salad and Sweet Greens, I am now a convert. What's more, it's so much easier to buy a fresh salad every once in a while from Just Salad than to buy all the ingredients and to watch them wilt and go bad in the fridge (and forget all that preparation one must do). No wonder I rarely ate salads before. However, this is so much easier and I can finally grasp the idea of a "just salad" kind of place. In particular, I've become somewhat addicted to the Thai Chicken Salad which is a really nice combo with some wonderful red cabbage with their lettuce. They also let me switch out the fried wontons for something healthier. The spicy Thai dressing is wonderful but the Asian Sesame is super delish for an occasional change. Actually all their dressings are pretty tasty. I recommend buying the salad in their recyclable container which gives you 2 more toppings for free-- helps to make a fresh new combo each time. If you can, get the dressing on the side and this bowl will give you a couple night's worth of salads. Some people have said they think it is expensive, but I find it so affordable if not cheap - $8 for a huge salad. Also, their Just Salad app helps to build up discounts etc. Between this place and Mr. Falafel down a couple of blocks (try their yummy falafel pita sandwich), this is fast becoming my favorite healthy food block in BK. Try it if you're looking for some healthy options in Brooklyn. read more

Just Salad is such a welcome addition to the neighborhood, however a few comments. 1) there are often 10 staff behind the counter and with as few as 3 people in line, there can be a wait or confusion. For instance today, I received the wrong greens but didn't realize it until I got home. The way in which they manage their line is so inefficient. 2) I have now TWICE gotten salads with chopped up walnut shells in them (as opposed to just the nuts) and nearly broken a tooth.
