We had high hopes for Cate's and made reservations for 6:30 p.m. We arrived about 10 minutes early…read moreand were a little surprised by the reaction when we checked in. Even though our table appeared ready, we were asked to wait. But they were very friendly. It would have been nice to be seated and simply advised that the server might need a few minutes, especially since all of the seating outside the restaurant was wet from the rain. Once seated on the patio, the atmosphere was pleasant and the food was largely enjoyable. Our server was friendly, but he seemed rushed throughout the evening. My impression was that the restaurant may have been short-staffed, as he was constantly moving and difficult to flag down when we needed something. The food was the highlight of the meal (except the cheesy garlic bread, it needed to be toasted). I loved the vodka pasta, which was rich and flavorful. My husband enjoyed the flavor of the osso buco, although he felt it was somewhat dry and overcooked. My son absolutely loved the ravioli and declared it his favorite part of the evening. Unfortunately, service continued to be a challenge. We wanted to order dessert, but despite several attempts, we couldn't get our server's attention. Eventually, the check arrived before we ever had the opportunity to ask about dessert, which left us feeling rushed and a little disappointed. Overall, there were definitely positives, particularly the food and the patio setting. However, with so many excellent dining options in the area, the inattentive service makes it hard to say we would have returned during this trip. We'd be willing to give Cate's another chance on a future visit, but we're hoping for a more attentive and relaxed dining experience next time.

The two ladies at the hostess stand were so welcoming, friendly and funny! There was a younger girl that sat us who was also friendly! Our waitress was super friendly and attentive! The bread was *chefs kiss* so delicious it was soft warm and melted in your mouth!! My daughter couldn't get enough! We got the kids pasta and sauce which my daughter loved, chicken parm (3 of us got) it was good but not the best we've ever had but I like the chicken thinner but by no means would I say it was bad would definitely order again if I went! Then my mother in law got the bolognese which she said was just okay but wouldn't get it again. The restaurant was very clean and well decorated!!

These folk are crankin' out some really good pizza pies! The pizza I had yesterday was definitely…read moreone of the best pies I've had so far in the greater Capital Region. All locally sourced ingredients being used here and great attention to detail for each pizza. Their pies are 12 inches, but are definitely filling. I'd say most normal appetite eaters could split a pie with their bud and still be happy, though if you're a monster eater, you'd want one all to yourself most def. See my pics as they tell a great story about their pies and pricing. They're using a nifty wood fired oven that is totally transportable using their truck and they're running nice, hot temps in that oven. The stone brick decking in their oven runs so hot that you get a real nice char on the dough, but the inside is soft and chewy, just like I likes it! The pizza peel guy told me the oven was burning at about 650 degrees when he was roatating my pizza. These guys know how to use their oven and they keep a watchful eye to make sure rotation is happening just as it should, that way your pie gets the perfect char while maintaining that soft and chewy love on the inside! Wicked good. Had a pepperoni pie this time round and the owner told me he that he hand slices each pepperoni so each slice is super thick, which indeed they were. The hot, hot wood fire gives the pepperoni a great crisp/char on the edges that adds that extra dimension of flavor that all good roni pizzas have. Great tang in the pepperoni and the sauce offered a great balance to an overall great pizza. Abundant cheese tops it all off real, real nice. Follow them on Facebook to see where they'll be appearing next. They apparently can cater and do private events as well. Finally, they also accept credit cards using their cell phone card swiper and they can text you the receipt for your purchase. Looking forward to meeting up with these folks again down the road to get another great pie. I have a feeling they're going to be really busy as word gets out about the quality they're cranking out.

Giuseppe's in Lake George is a reminder that while the food scene in the Village has come a long…read moreway in recent years, it still isn't exactly a food lover's paradise. I'll admit that living near Trenton has made me a little spoiled when it comes to pizza, but even with that in mind, this was not great by any stretch of the national imagination. The main appeal was convenience. Giuseppe's was only a few steps from our hotel, and the idea of eating pizza on the balcony overlooking the lake at sunset sounded too good to pass up. The order was ready quickly, less than thirty minutes, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, despite asking for utensils and plates both on the phone and again in person, they forgot them entirely. A short walk back to the shop solved the problem, and to their credit, the staff handed them over without any fuss. The pizza itself was the kind of food that serves a purpose but not a memory. The crust was too thick and doughy, the sauce had very little character, and the cheese existed mostly to keep everything from falling apart. It was utility-grade food sold at premium tourist-town prices. We knew we were paying that tax going in, but even so, it felt steep for what we got. Still, it did the job. Our family had a meal, the sunset over the lake was beautiful, and we went from phone call to first bite in under forty minutes on a Saturday night. For that, I'll give some credit. But for the pizza itself, there's not much to recommend. Three stars for speed and convenience, not for flavor.
