There was a big green sticker on the boots that said 50% OFF. I looked at the bottom of the boots for an original price of $260. I was shocked by how expensive the boots were, but since they were half off, I decided they were reasonable. I went up to the counter and asked for my size. They gave me the size I needed, and I tried on the boots. They fit perfect and I was so excited to buy them. That's when everything took an unexpected turn. The cashier asked me if I had a membership to the store. I told her I did not and she informed me that I had to pay for a membership in order to get the sale. The membership was $15 because it was half off as well. I did not want a membership so I then told them I did not want the boots anymore. They then asked if I was sure and I was. I left the store feeling very disappointed as well as mislead. The signs that said 50% OFF outside should have specified With Membership. The bright green signs on the boots also should have specified With Membership. It would save time for everyone. There are many people that travel to Chester from out of town, and do not need or want to pay a years membership to a store they are just passing through.
