Perfect place for a low-key lunch or dinner with family or friends. Get your own 9" pizza, the 13" one can easily be shared. And what's really good to know is that they even have gluten free crusts (which can be ordered on request and will only come in the 9" though). For pizza places I have an imaginary Cowabunga (TMNT) ranking scale. Jupiter scores a 3 out of 5 on this one. So, pretty good. read more

The vegan pizza here is some of the best I've ever had. It's absolutely phenomenal, and the olive oil crust is SO delicious. The only complaint I had was that it was pretty difficult to place an order over the phone here. The person I spoke with didn't seem to understand what I was ordering, and I had to repeat my order ~5 or so times. They could've been new, so I will give them the benefit of the doubt. Came here for the first time on a Friday night which was St. Patrick's day and was a little after 8 o'clock. The place was cracking and was pretty packed! Which seems to be the norm here. I can say that I have never tasted artichoke & spinach dip like that before and was delicious. Also, ordered the Eutropia pizza which had bacon, sausage & pepperoni on it...also bomb! Overall, the food was excellent and would definitely be back to try the other variety of pizza BUT the reason why I didn't give this place a full 5 star was because it took forever to get a table and the wait for a pizza to get done was about an hour our server had said and when the pizza finally came it was the wrong one so they rushed our correct pizza order and got it to us within 5-10 min. We sat at a bench that had room for probably 6 people. Got two pizzas. One was the jalapeño and sausage pizza which was good. I got half the shrimp and garlic pizza and the other half bbq chicken! Finally made it into this place! It was absolutely packed here last weekend so I opted to try again this weekend and so glad I did. My friends and I went bar hopping in the area and came across Jupiter around 10pm on a Friday. Packed packed packed as always! We seated ourselves in the back (the front is actual dining in) and ordered beers, pizza, and wine. The pizza was super fresh and obviously baked just before coming out. Super chewy and delish crust (my fave) that was super warm. Red wine came out a little warmer than expected but acceptable considering a huge heat wave has been making its way through this area. The atmosphere is awesome here. There is seating indoors, outdoors, and even by a fire pit- so cute! We sat at a table right next to the band but unfortunately, they were done playing for the night. The whole place has a brick and string lights feel that makes you feel like you're out for drinks on your friends pretty patio. The staff was so sweet and welcoming. They were always circulating and making sure we were helped. I recommend not driving as parking can be extremely difficult in the area. There is a bart station right by this place that you can take! We came in on a Sunday right when they opened. The outside seating was seriously gorgeous and HUGE. They had a cool looking tree, so we sat ourselves under there. Waitress was very friendly and brought our food/drinks promptly. Mercury (margherita) pizza was really good. The tomatoes they used were deliciously fresh and sweet. Crust was also sweet, so all around it was a very sweet tasting pizza which I don't mind. Spinach and artichoke dip. Served with both an herb focaccia and sourdough bread. Hints of jalapeño flavor in here were great, but the texture was a little too gritty for me. My friend who I dined with me would not even taste it (boo!) and it was way too big of a serving for person, but I'm still glad I tried it. Negatives were the house made lemonade which is waaaay too sour and there were a million children running around everywhere (not the restaurants fault, but not what I was planning to deal with on a nice Sunday afternoon.) read more

This was my first visit in several years to this long-established downtown Berkeley alehouse. To my surprise, they're now a literal brewpub, at least to the extent that one of the house beers is now produced on premises, though the other Jupiter lines are still brewed elsewhere, I believe under some sort of contract-brewing arrangement. Guest taps, all quality stuff, far outnumber the house beers. This is a cavernous two-story space, with a large beer garden out back. The atmosphere at the bar is rather dark. Downstairs restrooms are off a common corridor accessible to other tenants of the building, and presumably to anyone wandering in off the street; at least at the time of my Friday afternoon visit, the men's was badly in need of floor-mopping. I had time to try only the one beer actually produced at this location: - Ryed and True Rye Ale. 6.9% ABV. Clear red-brown; off-white one-finger head. Hoppy nose. Pleasant rye, caramel malt and bittering hop taste, perhaps turning overly bitter at the finish. I also ordered a Swiss and sausage sandwich, grilled on a thick bun with red pepper, aioli, and parsley; dill spear on the side. Pretty good. read more

He ordered an XHP which he thought was good. I got an Amber ale which was too bitter. They were out of Quasar, Red spot & Honey wheat which were our top choices. For sustenance, we got Garlic chicken wings & the Mercury. The wings were a bit on the room temperature side & they were very much lacking on the garlic flavor. The appetizer comes with a side of (what I think is) ranch which tasted funny. The Mercury was nice because it had thick slices of tomato; the chopped basil provided nice even flavor; & the crust had just the right thickness. Unfortunately the whole thing was too greasy for me. The service was kind of crappy. It was a busy night but I caught our waitress chatting with her co'workers. Uh I may be wrong but doesn't that just slow things down for everyone? We went in and were seated right away. We ordered a half and half pizza, but the waiter seemed very distracted, like he wasn't paying attention to us. He didn't make eye contact(he was looking away while taking our order!) or ask about drinks and walked away as soon as we were done telling him what kind of pizza we wanted. We had to ask the hostess for water. Our pizza came out quick, and was very good! But we finished the pizza and waited, and waited (with empty plates!). I first got my girlfriend into those shows before the introducing her to Jupiter. It was a much needed escape for the both of us. We went there on a Friday night which was crowded but sitting at the bar wasn't a problem. She was hungry and thought it would be wise to not drink on an empty stomach so we had the pizza and wings. Pizza was good and filling while the wings had me wishing there were more. I had a port (dark and strong) while she had light beer. Anyhow, Patrick rocks, he made newbies like us knowledgeable about the various beers and wines they have. How? By giving us tastings and talking us through it. He even paired one with the wings, unbelievable. When the night and beers finally caught up on us we left with smiles and her saying: "Good job. This is our spot now." I come here quite a bit, almost any time I find myself back in Berkeley. It's hard not to crave any of their delicious pizza and local beers - perfect combo. What really brings in all together is the ambiance and the staff. I love the outdoor seating area, and am always a little disappointed when I can only find a table inside instead. But the staff are extremely helpful finding you a table, especially because it's first come first serve. The one thing is, the live music is awesome but a tad to loud when you're sitting near them. I find myself yelling across the table, and my friends are still unable to hear. If you go, just avoid those seats! read more

Such a cute restaurant! There is a large patio outside that I would definitely recommend if the weather is nice. They have heat lamps and a fire pit if it's a bit chilly outside though. In the evening, the lights that are strung in the patio make it a great place to relax and hang out with friends or a significant other. The pizza is delicious, the ingredients are fresh, and there are plenty of beer options to choose from. I ordered a homemade lemonade, which was wayyyyyy to tart. The crust was the perfect thickness (I like thinner crusts). Hot and cheesy. 4/5 Meatball appetizer: we ordered this because the table next to us had it, and it was probably my favorite dish. 4-5 meatballs drenched in a marina-type sauce with fresh bread slices on the side. 5/5 Cream of zucchini soup: I couldn't decide if I liked this or not. It's very true to what you'd imagine if ordering cream of zucchini, but it didn't really suit my taste buds. My partner and I enjoyed a drink and some appetizers here on Saturday afternoon, and everything was great! It was our first pandemic outdoor dining experience as we've opted for take away and delivery to be extra safe this past year. I was pleasantly surprised by how clear the Covid precaution rules were stated when we arrived, and how well spaced the tables were. We felt like we were a safe distance away from the next table which was also separated by a partition. I really liked ordering via the QR code on the table as well - it was fast and easy! Josh!!!!! Thank you for being so kind and patient to a trio of girls (who were struggling to take selfies). My friends and I went to Jupiter for drinks and delicious food on Sunday night. We were greeted by a nice hostess at the door. We made our way to the patio area - it's so beautiful. We decided to sit by the fire and wait for a table to free up. A polite and super cute waiter named Josh soon came to our rescue. He notified us of a table right beneath a heater and escorted us to a table within minutes. After cleaning off our table and connecting with each of our personalities. He gave us as much time as we needed (for looking over the menu, giggling, and rearranging ourselves for celfies). Soon after he was ready to take our order. He had amazing listening skills and even sent us over some "tasters". I then asked his professional opinion on cross contamination in the kitchen. I do have celiac disease and cannot have even a tiny bit of gluten. Gluten Free pizzas and Gluten filled pizzas are all made next to each other and baked in the same oven. For someone with severe allergies; this is alarming to me. Given the warnings from Josh - I decided to go with the Salmon Salad (it was yummy)!!!! We also ordered the hummus plate with the pita bread on the side. My friend ordered some potatoes (I ate them!); they looked gluten free to me. I loved our fun filled night at Jupiter. Came here on a very hot day in July with my boyfriend for something to eat after watching a movie. Ideally, we wanted to sit outdoors, but there was no open table or seats. So we sat inside and seated upstairs. We had a decent view. Our server was really sweet and attentive. For starters, we ordered an appetizer and then ordered pizza. The pizza was good enough to share with the both of us. I ate about two slices and the rest of it he ate. He ordered a beer and said he enjoyed it. I think this place is really cute for date night or day date. Try to get there early enough to grab seating outdoor. Super cute. I'll be back soon to try more food and hopefully grab a seat outside. The first time I went, my friends and I shared the Xanthia, Odysseus, and the pizza of the day, which was the Dungeness crab pizza. I liked the xanthia the best out of the three, but they all were really great pizzas! We also ordered the green sauce on the side to dip with our pizzas and it was goes perfectly with it! Definitely order it!! The first time I came here, I had one of their honey wheat beers and it was so good!!!
