Juniper's is a lovely quaint little place. We sipped a French 75 and a gin old fashioned while watching the passersby out the window.

We had a party of 12 and we were told we'd be sat at different tables, no big deal. 8 of our party went to one table and the other 4 sat at a table catty corner to our party. We had separate waiters which I think was maybe their first mistake. Both tables ordered drinks and appetizers that came fast and were delicious....then things quickly fell apart. We were one of the first few tables seated. Our other parties tables food came out and us 4 at the other table was still waiting. We continued to wait while every table that came in after us starts getting their meals. Finally the table behind us that came in 30 min after us got their meals, we asked the waitress if she could check on our food? She came back and said it was "being plated." We wait a solid 30 more min and by this time our other parties table had eaten and were paying and we still did not have our food. Asked the waitress again who said they were waiting on mashed potatoes. We got up to check with the manager who was bartending who never once apologized or stopped to check on what was going on and only said "we got swamped." Which was a crazy excuse considering we were one of the first tables to order. Since the manager refused to help at all we talked to the hostess who was seating people and may have been the asst manager. She checked on our food and told us "there was a problem with the pesto." When our food came out my daughter mushroom and Swiss burger was charred to a crisp and hard. Finally the assistant manager took our meals off of our tickets. It was a frustrating experience for our first visit there and didn't leave a great impression. The food (minus my daughter's burger) and drinks were really good. I'm not sure where the disconnect happened but the managers poor excuse and the way he completely ignored us and the situation was pretty poor customer service. We come to Hermann every year and this year had brought people who had never been before. Sad they didn't get an enjoyable experience and my daughter didn't even get a meal.

They have several signature cocktails. We tried one that was a caramel apple type of drink that was really good, especially since it is fall and chilly outside. The building is historic and used to be a bank and hardware store years ago. The interior exposed brick walls make this a real charming place to have a drink or grab a quick bite to eat. The menu is somewhat limited. They have a couple of Paninis, flatbreads and one or two choices on different sizes of pizzas. They also have some other sandwiches as well. I got the chipotle chicken Panini and she got a bacon cheddar chicken Panini. Both were good (we always share). The chipotle chicken was topped with tomatoes lettuce and onion and it was a really good sandwich. Both sandwiches only come with potato chips as a side. I wish there was a little more choice than a bag Premade chips. The sandwiches will set you back about $9 each, And the cocktail was 10 bucks. This is a fabulous addition to the downtown area and one more place to get a quick bite. Currently they're open most days of the week until 7 PM. they also have several choices for coffees in the morning.

We've been to Doxie Slush a few times in the past few years, and it's never a regret. We didn't get food this past stop in, but I do remember and can recommend the Coconut Shrimp Tatchos (sweet potato tots). I haven't explored the rest of the food menu personally, but the descriptions sound delicous on first glance. At this time, there are 12 frozen cocktails in a variety of sweet, fruit, rich, and tart flavor profiles. My wife and I tried the flight, which included the Blueberry Cinnamon Margarita, Dappletini, and Strawberry Amaretto Shortcake. We both agree the Dappletini was our favorite, but each is worth a taste for its own unique charm. Give it a try next time you pass through Hermann; you're bound to become a new fan.

My husband went to the host stand to say something and a server overheard and immediately came and paid wonderful attention to us after that and they gave us a free appetizer to make up for it which the manager delivered himself with another apology. All good. Handled expertly and the meal was 5 stars afterwards. We started with the Whipped Feta And Balsamic Roasted Strawberries which was different and really good and light. My husband ordered for his entree the Charred Double Cut Pork Loin for about $32 served with elote corn with bacon roasted potatoes. It was SO delicious - for real, probably the best pork loin I've ever had and the corn was fabulous. I had the Chilean Sea bass Chilean Sea Bass for $50 with tomatoes and orzo in saffron tomato broth. It was a huge portion of sea bass Coffee was good and we ordered a chocolate dessert mousse pie to go which was AMAZING. The food was all wonderful, service was superb and the view and location was gorgeous. We saw that they have rentals above in lofts which are beautiful and will absolutely consider staying here (and dining again for sure) if and when we visit in the future. Highly recommend. My husband is from St. Louis and has been to the Lake of the Ozarks probably 25x and said this was by far the best meal he's ever had here. He raved about it for a few days afterwards.

Several other couples who arrived around the same time were welcomed immediately, but we were left standing there without any acknowledgment. It was uncomfortable and made us feel overlooked in a way no quest should experience. I can't say why we were treated differently, but the contrast was hard to ignore. Because of the lack of attention, we ended up buying only a few bottles- even though we originally planned to purchase two full cases. We also chose not to buy anything from the stores afterward, which is unusual for us, but the experience at the beginning made it difficult to fully appreciate the visit. For a winery with such a strong reputation, I expected a much more welcoming and inclusive atmosphere. This was a one- star experience for us, and we won't be returning.

I think that comment was rude and uncalled for. We did buy some wine to take with us and enjoyed our visit despite the waitresses' comment.
