Dessert!

Awesome food and the best service. If you're in Dublin, Juniors is a must stop. The daily specials are always fantastic and the main menu has plenty of great choices. One of my favorite restaurants in town!!

Oanh P.

they served the best sambo i ever had in town. They also had different deal for lunch like sandwich + salad + half soup (11e) which I highly recommend. The place could be also really packed during lunch time! But super stuff!

Soup of the day

I always hear people say such good things about this place, but both times I've been here I haven't been overly impressed. I was here most recently with a large group of friends. We had made a reservation, but were told the table wouldn't be ready for about 20 minutes; but that was fine, and we just grabbed a drink next door. We were sat and orders taken. I decided to start with the soup of the day, which was tomato and pumpkin, then went with the ribeye for my entree. The soup was SO big and came with so much bread that I almost could've eaten JUST that for dinner. The soup was tasty, but was molten hot. It took ages to finish between allowing it enough time to cool and being such a large portion The ribeye came out, and it was pretty good, but nothing to write home about. The food here is good, but not great; and this is not reflected in the prices in their dinner menu. In my opinion, if your cheapest entree is going to be essentially €20, then the food better be pretty damn good. Probably won't come back here again in the future.

Clam linguine with chili, garlic, parsley and olive oil

I came here with the hubby on our most recent trip to Dublin after reading reviews from Yelpers. The food was absolutely amazing, and we left full and happy! Appys We ordered 2 starters - the soup of the day (seasonal vegetable soup when we went) and the olives with sourdough toast. As simple as they sound, both were really good. The soup was a very large bowl filled with a hearty amount of fresh seasonal vegetables, and the flavor and seasoning were great. For the other plate, each of the olives were really big, and the sourdough was a toasted, buttery goodness! Main course For our main dishes, I ordered the clam linguine and he ordered the rib eye with mash and green beans. Both - DIVINE. I really loved the clam linguine. The garlic, white wine and other flavors were just so perfectly combined together, and the noodles were so chewy and good, and the clams were so fresh. Everything about this dish was just awesome. The rib eye was hearty and flavorful as well. We looked around and everyone seemed to be enjoying what they ordered. Staff and Ambiance The staff was super friendly and very helpful. There is only 1 chef there, so if you go, expect to spend some time there - not a place for a quick dinner. But the ambiance inside the restaurant is very cozy with dim lighting and fun music, so it was overall a really great experience. Definitely highly recommended, and we'll definitely be back!

I really wanted to love Juniors but after our dinner there last weekend, I won't be rushing back. I had the mussels to start and the ling (think cod's cousin) with vegetables as my main. J had the pint o' prawns to start and the gnocchi as his main. While the service was excellent, my dishes were just okay. In addition, my fish was served over a bed of veggies with pine nuts mixed throughout. This "minor detail" was not mentioned anywhere in the food description and I'm allergic to pine nuts. I moved my fish to a side plate and asked the waiter if they could arrange for veggies without nuts but by the time it was brought out I was finished with my fish. I've heard amazing things about their sandwiches so next time I think I'll stick to lunch.

Good atmosphere, good food, okay location, okay prices. Overall I'd probably give this place 4.5 stars. It's a little cramped on the inside and there aren't a lot of tables. But it is still worth it for the very good food. I ordered bangers and mash, which was quite tasty (although it didn't blow me out of the water like Gruel's bangers and mash). For dessert, I got the chocolate cake, which was not too heavy but definitely could've been sweeter. As a huge chocolate cake fan, I was a little disappointed in it. Overall a pretty tasty restaurant. I can see why its popular.

I have been going to Juniors for lunch year in, year out. But with so many additional lunch spots in the area my visits have become less and less. Shame on me, because I do love their massive sambo's, big bowls of soup and original mixed salads. Also, service has gotten a lot faster since they do table service now - rather than queueing for ages to order/ pay. On a weekday, definitely come at 12 on the dot, if you want a seat. Otherwise you might be waiting a long time. On today's visit I went for the Coronation chicken (€6.75), I think it's the newest sambo added to the menu, as I hadn't seen it before. What came to the table, was a monster of sambo (see photo). It was the same size as a small (or big? ) baby. I don't know how I did it, but I polished it all off. Every.single. breadcrumb. GONE. yum!

I came here on a lazy Sunday morning brunch with some friends and had a great time. Really prompt service too. I got myself "The Mexican" which is basically eggs with a spicy Mexican sauce, guac, and sour cream. I thought it was really good although a bit too greasy. I also ordered some orange juice and coffee and they were both very good. My friend got crab cakes and a Mississippi Mud Pie (pictured here) and judging by his clean plate, I would guess he enjoyed his meal too.

I had a great dinner in Juniors recently and I can understand why people see it as a new up and coming 'it place.' It seems to be doing really well lately and I think this is a mix of good reviews in the media as well as word of mouth. This is a great place for steak and the desserts are top notch. Next time I go, I'm definitely trying the homemade marshmallows with hot chocolate sauce. I've never seen that on a menu before and think it's very cool. Who doesn't like marshmallows? Mmmm. Only thing is that they don't take reservations, which is a pet peeve of mine. But after having a drink in Slattery's next door, I came to the conclusion after the meal that it was well worth the wait.

Anti Pasti Platter Starter! One of the specials tonight...amazing pesto!

Having worked around the corner from Juniors for months, I was shocked that I'd never popped in before, or heard my colleagues talking about it! I'd seen all of the yelp hype so went in on Thursday to scope the place out! First of all, did anyone else notice how the waiters are unreal Craic? Literally joking and having the banter with us all night (thumbs to to the hiring manager)! Another thing I love here is the cosy, Intimate atmosphere! The restaurant is quite small, so we sat out in the covered terrace. We even had blankets to wrap around us while we ate which was incredibly cute (not that we needed them, there must be some outdoor heating going on!) As for the food, it was as good as I expected! Our starter was the special: antipasti platter with bread! The bread was amazing, like seriously crusty and chargrilled tasting, and the cold meats were good too. You can't go wrong with an old antipasti can you though? I'm a fish lover so I opted for the hake with mussels for my main, while my other half went for the stew. My fish was cooked to perfection and came with spuds and a lovely thin sauce. There is nothing worse than a piece of fish that is downed in a thick sauce. That doesn't fly with me! The only thing that disappointed me here was the dessert. We went for the chocolate peanutbutter cake. I mean, it was good, but it LOOKED like it was going to taste better. It was a little too sweet for me but the fellah enjoyed it none the less! I will defiantly be coming back here to try more of the starters and mains though! Well done Juniors, 4 stars for you!

Juniors is my friend's favourite restaurant and now that I've tried it myself I can see why. It has a nice, relaxed and unpretentious atmosphere with friendly and welcoming staff. The food is absolutely amazing and pretty inexpensive for Ballsbridge as well. I had the Rigatoni Bolognese, which was excellent and the NY cheesecake for dessert, which was amazing as well. My friend is vegetarian and they had a pretty good selection of dishes for him, which is pretty good for a small restaurant. All in all it came to less than 25 Euro per head. We were also told by the waiter, that the menu changes depending on season and availability of vegetables and meats. Five stars all around.

Pint of shrimps with home made mayo, tomato mozzarella Bruschetta
Sarah O.

I gave them 4 stars because I only tried the starters I had the pint of shrimps with homemade mayo and the mozzarella bruschetta Shared it with my sister Next time I will go there with an empty stomach so I could try their mains Lovely staff and the environment is vet cozy On a windy cold day the give you blankets and body warmers

A friend of mine claimed he had a craving for junior's. I had never been before so we decided to wonder in for Saturday brunch. Unfortunately the place was full, but the staff were lovely and took our number and offered to call us when the first table became available - which they did 15 minutes later. Seated on the overly Christmas decorated terrace we both ordered steak sandwiches. I was pleasantly impressed with how well cooked it was. After the main I asked for a recommendation for desert: I was told the cheesecake would be a great choice and it was!

The most delicious falafel rap Dublin has to offer! I would highly recommend it.

We made reservations online at the bistro--they have three areas a the bistro is laid back and bustling. The wine bar and terrace also have food and seem very low vibe and chill, a little more relaxed than the bistro if you want something cozy. The main restaurant, the bistro, was bustling and busy, with waitstaff constantly circulating to take orders and deliver food and drinks; if we needed something we didn't have to wait for our particular server to order or request anything. The atmosphere ranged from casual to business casual, so we didn't feel like we were underdressed. The menu is varied so there really is something for everybody! Roasted chicken, fish, steak, fire roasted vegetable dish, in addition to either a set course option or à la carte. I went with the 3 course set, which gave me a lot of options for the starter, main, and dessert. We both ordered the Irish Hereford steaks, which were cooked to perfection! Absolutely delicious, and excellent ambience. Definitely a good plan to reserve a spot, it was super busy! Great way to end our day! Though the patrons are packed in, the sound level was comfortable for conversation and tucked in the corner we had more room than most anyone else. The food was superb. There a Cajun influence to the chef's palate. The seafood chowder is a red chowder, a little spicy, and light. It's of course chock full of fish. The corn bread served with the soup is unique. I asked and the chef flavors the bread with Cajun spices. It's excellent. My wife chose the goats cheese salad. The pastry they held the salad and cheese was so delicate. Our entrees included the beef that melted in your mouth. It's served rare and it's totally tender. The sea bass was also excellent. It's served of the bone with mussels, brocholini in a curry based sauce. It was a very generous portion. The potatoes served with the dishes were great. My wife had a tawny port and I chose the cider-see pic. It was delicious and refreshing. We didn't enjoy dessert and so I can't comment. I highly recommend this place!

We'd had a long day of travel into Dublin, and neither of us really wanted to try to learn the city with only an hour of daylight left, so that left us with very limited options for dining. The restaurant wasn't busy on our first night in, so we grabbed a table next to the windows and ordered up our first pints of Guinness. For food, I went with the Beef and Guinness Casserole, and my husband ordered the Bacon, Sausage and Black Pudding Pizza. The casserole was more like a stew, served with beef, carrots and potatoes in a beef gravy, supplemented with mash and a couple pieces of bread. It was hearty and filling to be sure, but I didn't love the flavor of it. The mash was a bit dry, and the beef was too chewy to be enjoyable. It also had a slight off-flavor that I couldn't place. My husband absolutely loved the pizza, though. They drizzled some kind of sauce - he said it tasted like a BBQ sauce - over the pizza that he initially didn't like, but eventually grew on him. It was the first time he'd had blood sausage on a pizza, and it made a fan out of him. Our second visit, on our last night in town, we were shown to a table towards the back by the same waiter we'd had on our first visit. For this meal, I'd been randomly craving chicken wings, so I went with a full portion of their Piri Piri BBQ wings. My husband got the fish & chips. We also ordered the last pints of Guinness we'd have while in Dublin. *sad face* When I asked the waiter how many pieces came in a full order of the wings, he answered vaguely with "maybe 12 to 14". The bowl that he set down in front of me had *significantly* more than 14 wings in it. I tried to count, but lost track after 20. YES, 20! I mean, I was craving wings, but that was out of control. I did like the flavor of the piri piri BBQ sauce, for the first 6 or 8 wings, at least. After that, it got to be a little too sweet, a little too cloying to be enjoyable. The dish was served with celery slices, but not enough to offset the sweetness of the sauce. (The other option was a blood orange sauce, which I think would've been too overpowering, as well). I plowed through as many wings as I could stomach, and my husband tagged in after eating his fish and chips to help out, but we weren't able to finish them. They did give us our money's worth with that meal. By the way - the hubs said the fish and chips were delightful. The fish was perfectly cooked and flavorful, and the chips were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. We had the same waiter both times we were there. He was nice enough, but kept forgetting to bring the water I'd requested (on both trips). He did stop to chat with us a bit about living in the United States, as we were paying our last bill. He opened up then, and had a lot of questions about our city and our state, which we happily answered. It's nice that the hotel has so many dining options (there's another restaurant that we didn't get to try, and a breakfast option, as well). It was handy to have something with good food and good beer on tap in the same building as the hotel.

What a beautiful event!…read more i've noticed events like this creep up in popularity around Dublin and isn't it a richer place for it. I know it sounds cheesy, but it's nights like this that instill in you a pride in being Irish, and a pride in our past, present and future. Honestly there were some parts that gave me goosebumps, the type I get every now and again when I'm wandering around the city and realise that after eight years away, I can honestly say there is no place in the world I would rather live right now. It's hard to decide what the highlight is. I won't go into massive detail as those before have, but allow me to point out the bones of what makes this into such a gorgeous way to spend a Saturday; - The setting. Old Georgian wooden stairs that are worn down in the middle by hundreds of years of stepping on them, the old crumbling cornicing, the candle lit old antique tables. - The food. Each course was a perfect size, and the perfect representation of modern x traditional Irish cuisine. Quality ingredients, beautifully presented - The talks in between courses by food historian Máirtín Mac Con Iomaire. Funny, informative, nostalgic, and funny again. If you didn't pick up on it already, I would highly recommend this as a night out. Our host for the evening was awesome, lots of banter and amazing stories. It was really captivating and enjoyable hearing him speak, since and recite poems between courses. Everything was linked back to the food which was just as amazing - traditional Irish scran but served up a bit fancier than normal.
