Bit surprised by the rave reviews to be honest, but let's start from the beginning. This place is the sister restaurant of the famed Paulie's pizza around the corner. That in mind, I expected a similar experience to pleasant dining experiences at Paulie's. Well, for starters, this place is a lot smaller. We came here because Paulie's was full and were told by staff juniors was also an Italian restaurant. So it is. However, the menu was much less extensive, quite limited in fact, and there were no pizzas on the menu at all. I could be wrong, but it seemed like the prices were slightly dearer too, but I can't be sure about that. So, the food. My friend and I both ordered the Cannelloni, with spinach and ricotta. It was good. That said, I'm not a big eater and get full quite quickly. I found the serving wasn't fulfilling, and that included two 'rows' of cannelloni with a serving of green salad on the side. Still felt hungry when done and that for the generous price of 17€. I'm happy to pay that for dinner, but I would expect to be full afterwards! The decor: was pretty minimal. Nothing that stood out. Staff: after initial service, the staff did come round a few times to refill our water which was quite nice, but after a time they seemed to turn their back on us and didn't pay attention to our table, making it hard to get their attention. The servers were friendly enough, just not very attentive. Overall impression: this place was OK. I wouldn't hurry back here. Given the choice of the two, I'd definitely opt for Paulie's over juniors, not to mention there are some other nice options around, such as chophouse, the old spot and others. read more

I have recently developed an addiction to Junior's sandwiches. While I am very slowly working my way through the menu, I keep on getting stuck on the huge and tasty BLT, I am a fan of the grilled chicken, and the occassional slow roasted pork, as well. Fortunately(or not), I have put myself on a one visit per week "regimen" - the key is timing your visit just right so you don't have to wait on line too long - I like the noon spot - though the12:45 or 1:45 spots seem to work as well. Juniors is the cutest little cafe! They have a gorgeous patio with warm woolen blankets all set up for you, and the service is so genuine and friendly that it makes you want to come back again and again. As for the food, everything on the menu is super fresh and delicious. They have a popular to-go option that's just biscuits and jam and coffee and you can tell that lots of locals come to take advantage of this delicious morning treat as they head out to work. I really like Juniors - it's a consistent good time, and they seem to be open most Bank Holidays. I've only been for brunch, but this past weekend was my third visit so that's a pretty solid endorsement. The best thing I've ordered has been the huevos rancheros (which they may have taken off the menu?) but I've also had the crab cakes benedict (solid flavour, good hollandaise but overall not that inventive of a dish) and the yogurt parfait (light and tasty, but they use frozen fruit instead of fresh). Staff are friendly, prices are really reasonable, and they make me a legit iced coffee when I requested one. Anything to beat this 60-some-odd degree heat ;) read more

I used to work around the corner and regularly go for lunch here. As mentioned by others it is always jammers at this time of day, so plan your trip. The sandwiches are unreal but maybe not the best if you are watching what you eat because they are ginormous! I went once for brunch at the weekend and it was such a let down, so my advice is to stick to lunch on weekdays, you will more than likely take away your food unless you are incredibly lucky to get a table. read more

These guys have really upped their brunch game recently! Maybe it's because farmer Browns is so close by. Having been unable to get a table in FB we went for brunch to juniors. The coffee as always was delicious. We had a huge jug of home made lemonade. Not too sweet. Not too tart.., perfect for a hangover. I had corn fritters and chicken. It was absolutely amazing. And I've had the corn fritters in Kai in galway. We shared some chocolate dessert thing. Can't remember the details but it was very tasty. Although a bite was plenty after such a filling main. Sunday noon, looking for a brunch without reservation as usual. We tried a couple of places with no success and finally entered this little and nice restaurant. The menu is great, quite original (not only irish breakfast and pancakes), and the place is cool. We were absolutely not disapointed :-) I took "the mexican" which is a kind of ratatouille with eggs and spicy sauce directly served in the pan. Portions are quite big and it is very tasty. The best point is the service. These guys are professional, quick and so nice even if the place is crowdy! I think I will definitely go to this place more often! read more

What a fabulous little place. The food was outstanding & the service was even better. David & Claire waited on us and were two of the friendliest, sweetest and most entertaining people we have met on this vacation. So, I hadn't been to Juniors in years and we decided to go again. We had tried a few times without a reservation but no luck as it tends to be busy. If anything, it was better than I remembered. The staff were very efficient and friendly. We split the prawn starter which was nice if not a tiny bit plain. For a main, we had the duck, which was the special for the night.....all I could say was WOW!! It was the best duck I have ever had - perfectly cooked with just the right seasoning. I'd suggest they add it to the menu full time, as I'd definitely go for it again! Overall, it was good value (the wine was on the steep side) and I will be back again! read more

Went for the Monday special, pulled pork on ciabatta with a beet root slaw. The pork was very tender and marinated to perfection. There was a zesty flavour that cleansed the palate and didn't sap your appetite which can sometimes happen when eating pork. It was a tiny place, with one table left - just for us! We overindulged by ordering a bottle of cabernet, appetizer, two entrees and dessert. Outrageously good food. In contrast to a lot of places in Ireland (and elsewhere -- I'm looking at you Germany!), these guys know how to cook a steak medium rare. Get the rib-eye. Juniors operates on three different fronts and it's only fair to mention each of them.. To begin, weekend brunch. Weekend brunch in Juniors is delicious. Now, I've only ever had the steak and eggs because that is a brunch of champions and, coupled with a Bloody Mary, is the best hangover cure around. Basically Eggs Benedict with STEAK replacing ham and homemade chips instead of a weeny muffin. It's prehistoric and manly and damn tasty. Weekday lunch is a different matter and I have to be careful to rein in my superlatives. The sandwiches are f@cking delicious. The best in town. Worth travelling for. Savage. Huge, cheap, tasty as anything, homemade and heaped high with good stuff. The queue can be long and the system nerve wracking to newbies but get in there. It's class. I've only been for dinner there once - they turn the small but neat space into an Italian style restaurant at night - but it was also very good. The clam linguine was lovely, the wine was pleasing and reasonable and three of us left stuffed and satisfied. Basically, what Juniors does, it does well. Very well. I'm starving now. read more

I am always afraid of hype and I had eaten here before which was really good so I was a little afraid it wouldn't live up to it second time. It was even better the second time. My dad is a massive fish lover and was really impressed with the Cod. I had sea bream cooked in a delicious broth. We had the lemon pie for dessert which was also excellent. Absolutely fantastic!!! My husband and I went to dinner lastSaturday evening, we were impressed! For starters, I got the prosciutto, water cress and buffalo mozzarella salad, my husband got the quail, tasty doesn't begin to cover it! And for starters, the portion sizes were huge! For our mains, I got the linguine with clams, it is one of my favorite dishes and they did not disappoint! My husband got the steak with mustard mash and green beans, he said everything was cooked to perfection. To finish this all off, we shared a Mississippi mud pie, huge and delicious!!!! I would also like to add that I am a salt whore, I tend to lace my food in it, however the food here wasso incredibly tasty I didn't touch one grain of salt or pepper to my plate! We came here for dinner with some friends with high expectations thanks to all of the great reviews here. Unfortunately, we didn't have the same experience many others seemed to have. The space is very tight and crowded. The service was good- no complaints there. The food just wasn't memorable, at all. I think my dinner was a special, cannelloni. The edges of the pasta were burnt to the point that you had to eat around it. My husband even asked me what the "dark colored" stuff was- just burnt pasta. It just wasn't at all what I was expecting- the texture of the rest of the dish was very mushy. It wasn't satisfying at all. Brunch here is fantastic. Probably my favorite in Dublin. When you get here, just order the steak and eggs. I don't even need to look at the menu anymore. Was very excited to try juniors, especially as its near my apartment! Very disappointed that on my 2 visits they were unable to cater for supplements! I have food allergies and I am unable to have products like cheese and mayonnaise! Usually asking somewhere to exclude one of these items is never a problem! However juniors refused! It's difficult enough having food allergies but its very annoying when places won't cater for you! I understand at lunch it is very busy, but lets be honest, it's not hard to put some chicken and lettuce on a plain mayonnaise free roll... Such a shame as the food looks delicious!! read more

Tucked away in Ballsbridge is this gem of a restaurant! I went here to have dinner with a friend on a brisk October night. We said outside in their front enclosed outdoor space and were given blankets and even hot water bottles to help keep us warm! Though it was fairly cool that night, the tables are protected from the wind so its not bad at all outside, but the blanket and the hot water bottles are a nice touch! The menu is a handwritten one based on the fact that they change their options frequently. This is something I really enjoy about a restaurant, its nice to know the ingredients are changing with the seasons. Though the restaurant is small the menu was loaded with options. I went with a friend but couldn't help but think that this would be a great date place -- though you should be comfortable with the fact that table next to you is close enough that they'll hear anything you say! You shouldn't come here with a group, 2 is the ideal number of people for Juniors. Prices are high but I thought the quality was as well. Its not a weekly restaurant but would be great as a once-in-awhile or special occasion place. I ordered a butternut squash and ricotta canolini that was cooked on order as I was told it would be 20 mins it to come out. I have no problem waiting for food when you know you're getting a dish that wasn't made in bulk and warmed up when someone ordered it. When the dish came out it was piping hot and was enough food for two! This made the 16euro price of the dish much more reasonable when I saw the portion size. It was also served with a mixed greens salad, a nice touch to help off-set the temperature of the dish. My friend got haddock that was perfectly cooked and tasted very fresh! Her only complaint was they put mayonnaise on the dish and she wasn't expecting that, but otherwise a very successful meal! The waitress was extremely friendly and attentive. The water at the table was kept full and when we needed the check she was very quick even though we saw she had most of the tables that night. Great service, great food, and an intimate setting makes for a great meal if you are looking for a great date place! read more

This place was just down the street from our hotel, and we tried to get a table several times, but each time we were told they wouldn't have anything available until 9:30 or 10pm. So finally, on our last night in Dublin, we showed up at 6pm and were seated right away. They had about 6 starters and 8 main dishes, plus a special of each. We had the soup, a grilled peach salad, ribeye steak, and fillet of cod. They were all excellent. For dessert we had the cheesecake, which was a really large slice but surprisingly light. Still, I was completely stuffed. This was probably the best meal we had in Dublin. read more

i LOVE this place. i'd even venture to say it's my favorite restaurant in dublin. not only is it right down the street, but the food is delicious and the staff are super super nice. the first time i ate there, i ordered the clam linguine (apparently the owner/chef's signature dish left behind as a legacy at other restaurants he's worked before). this was the first dish at a restaurant where i took a bite and didn't feel the need to add something to it (like salt). it was perfect just the way it was. i also love their house wines. i've never eaten at a place that's had such consistently good and cheap house wines. and of course you're always allowed a taste before having to commit to a full glass. i really like that. i've been in for lunch and it's a madhouse but totally worth it. the sandwiches are HUGE and toasted and delicious. and if that's not enough, you can get a giant bowl of soup to go with it. it's a bit tricky if you're used to being seated at dinner because it's an every-man-for-himself kind of free-for-all at lunch. you basically have to scavenge a free seat and go up to the counter to shout your order to the chef. it's nuts but it's worth it. after about our third visit, the head waiter/one of the owners, started calling us by name. these days we just walk up and wave and head to slattery's to wait for our call. that's the sort of friendly that really makes a person feel welcome. yes, it's true the waits are kinda long these days (due to them being awesome the word spreading about their awesomeness), but the fact that you can give 'em your number and they'll call you when they're ready for you is really nice. and nobody really minds a pint at the pub next door before a meal anyways, right? read more

I have eaten here on two occasions , brunch and dinner . My first experience , I went for the seafood linguini and my dining partner opted for the bangers and mash .The the seafood was particularly worth a mention as it was so fresh it was practically flopping around on the plate.We sat outside in the little sheltered patio which is heated (they even give you blankets in case your cold) .I also have to mention the bangers and mash , I do not see the appeal usually but this particular bangers and mash looked mouthwatering . My second experience in Juniors was for brunch, we were seated inside which I would not recommend (it is quiet small and I felt rather cramped) . I opted for the eggs Benedict - they were not the best I've ever had but still really good (may have had something to do with the guy beside me who was having the huevres ranchos which looked incredible) . I have to give a particular mention to the jam, (bursting with real fruit). The quality of the preserve can be a make or break for me and this delicious strawberry jam served with toasted sour dough bread was epic! All round I would highly rate Juniors, however I would strongly recommend sitting outside as the inside is just that bit too small . read more

They don't take reservations per se, but will work with you, so don't be afraid to give them a call on your way there. Will definitely come back - many interesting things on a changing menu. This place is about a three minute walk from my house and one of the first places I found when I moved here a few months ago. I love this place almost as much as I love their younger, sister restaurant "Pauline's Pizza' just around the corner! It's such a cute, cozy restaurant usually with great music (that the waiters play from their personal ipods) and an awesome but simple, small menu. It's a great place to go with a girlfriend to catch up over a glass of wine or with that special someone. The menu isn't huge but the food is always good and I love how the menus are just hand written on a piece of paper. They have a good selection of wine but no beer so go grab a pint at Slattery's right next door before or after dinner. I've only ever gone for dinner but I've heard the lunch is great and pretty cheap. The only downsides are that it is super small to the point where you have to carefully maneuver your way into your table. It also makes it hard to get a table sometimes so try and call about an hour ahead to get a table. read more

Every sandwich in Junior's is amazing!! My favourites have to be the Reuben (it made me like gherkins) and the Chorizo (pure deliciousness). Would deffo recommend going if you're in the area, only thing is that it gets very crowded at lunch time and there is very little seating. read more

The food at Juniors is Italian influenced in that it is rustic and hearty, but the flavours are from all over Europe. I've been here a couple of times and it's a mixed bag. It's a tiny, cramped, although not uncomfortable, space. The open kitchen is right beside you, which is exciting but does mean strong food odours swim around the restaurant (despite the massive extractor fan). The wine list is impressive and reasonably priced. The steak is very good, but the desserts are a bit hit and miss. I've had absolutely top notch cheesecake, but been let down by strange homemade marshmallow squares. The coffee is good, as is the outside seating on a nice evening. I've never been during the day - I assume this is when the 'deli' operates, serving sandwiches and burgers and the like. The very nice staff don't take bookings, but they will take your number, advise you to go to the pub across the street and call you when there's a table free! Pricing is at the upper end of what I would consider reasonable. Great for a date, but not for a group. read more

Having read the reviews on Yelp regarding Juniors I thought that we just have to go here. If you are contemplating going, don't bother. Obviously the popularity has gone to their heads. Arrogant would be a word I would use to describe the staff. We should most definitely be grateful for the fact that we got a table! I had the breakfast of champions. Flavourless sausage coupled with overdone bacon, a tomato with the stalks left on two overdone poached eggs nice beans toast and black pudding. The pint of prawns was delicious however, just a little bit too much like working for your brunch as they were all whole and had to be peeled. If you are planning on going here, keep walking or driving and go up to herb street instead. Also they haven't bothered reducing their prices with the recent VAT reduction. read more

Finally made it with a booking for a Saturday brunch with a friend, the service is lovely and you don't have to wait long for your food either. Huge portions - our table for two could hardly hold the plates, sauces and teapots...I was really happy with my falafel wrap and definitely want to go again to give the eggs a try, too.
