This little gem is walking distance from my house! For me, some of the most authentic Mexican food since I moved from San Francisco. I usually get the tacos mixtos with the salsa verde. I sometimes get a hotter salsa but nothing seems to get to that temperature I like. But the beef, chicken and pork are all cooked perfectly and nestled in maize tacos with a bit of onion. Chili rellenos are another hit. I prefer refritos to arroz...sometimes I get their delicious guacamole to add to my tacos. Their Camarones a la Diablo is cooked in a nice spicy red sauce. They don't skimp on the shrimp! The taste is authnic and delicious....full of flavor. They even have a great Torta, which many Mexican places do not have. The service is quick and friendly. The place could use a little more decoration....but the atmosphere is welcoming. Based on the reviews, my friend and I came here for lunch on Valentine's Day (we couldn't get into E & E Stakeout without a reservation). This place was empty, which should have been a clue. We each ordered a burrito ( $7 and $8) and a glass of horchata (5 bucks each) but were shocked that our bill was $37. Everything else was nickel and dime-ing us for chips, salsa, and a tiny serving of guacamole (2-3 Tbsp for $7!!). They charged us $5 for chips and salsa and it was just a very small serving. I finally found a Mexican restaurant that has authentic Mexican food. The gorditos and tacos are the best. The fajitas have great crunchy vegetables. They taste so fresh. They have hibiscus, horchata, and have drinks that are so great. The spicy sauces for the food is nice and spicy, but does not kill the palate. Chipotle and green tomatillo sauces are yummy. The chips are homemade and the red sauce is mild for all people. Service at this small place can get slow because this little restaurant is small and they get packed, but worth waiting for the food.
