It was an excellent surprise to stop in and try a healthy lunch at this spot off Hillsborough Avenue. The salad station was filled with a plethora of everything you could think of in terms of salad components and additions. It is a serve yourself line where the staff is available for assistance. My choices were all fresh and the tofu was prepared fantastically and cut into cubes for consumption. There is staff there to help guide you along and they have the option to chop your selections at the end of the line. The absolute best part of it all is that they require you to wear gloves that are easy to slip into and encourage sanitation for everyone so you can feel comfortable and safe. I've loved basically across the street from the salad station for 4 years and I've always thought about going in, it wasn't until the pole restaurant next door was closed and I was starving that I finally opened the door! I am so glad I did! Great BIG salad bar with all the things you think of when you think salad bar + they have a baked potato bar and several soups. I wish the soups and baked potato bar were advertised or in front, I would have gotten a smaller salad and tried something more. Service was fine...it's all self serve and you have to wear these OS gloves which is weird, but I guess I get it. The cashier was a little snippy when I failed to put the on the side salad dressing on the scale - we never weigh it at Whole Foods. When we entered, the employee behind the counter briefly explained the options and that we needed to wear gloves. That was helpful, but I didn't realize there were salad cards (with recipes already created) or that you could chop or wrap your salad until I already checked out- no one was behind us in line. There were plenty of salad topping options. I noticed my strawberries weren't cold and they were kinda mushy so I took them off. Several soups and a small potato building area- wouldn't call it a bar. They were out of several drinks in the soda machine and their lemonade canister. I made a very small salad because I knew I was going to have potato soup. My husband had a small soup and a larger salad and our bill was over $40. And they asked for tip. We served ourselves full buffet style and cleaned our own table. Tip?? Plus it was so loud in there and it wasn't crowded. Metal chairs on concrete floor and loud music. Places like this need to be more common! Unfortunately this one isn't close to us but it happened to be on our way when going out in the Tampa area so we got to stop in and try it. It's essentially a giant salad bar where you design a salad and pay by the pound for what you get. Once you choose all your toppings, they'll chop it up if you want or put it in a wrap. I chose to get mine chopped! With the salad, a cup of fresh fruit (also on the salad bar), a fountain drink and tip my order came out to around $18 which personally I think is really reasonable for a high quality healthy ish lunch. I have finally found the closest thing to sweet tomatoes! All the ingredients are fresh and colorful. Although the concept is similar, it is not an all you can eat buffet. Prices are by the pound, 11.99 per lb and it is self serve. There are plenty of healthy options to choose from, almost overwhelming if you are trying to keep it under a pound lol. Very cool concept for a quick and healthy bite. Service is prompt and friendly, I never felt rushed with the questions. Only reason for the 4 stars is the soup station was a bit deceiving . I was thinking it's like Publix small or large size with a set price . Salad station has pricing per lb but didn't specify the items towards the back ...soups, sweet potato, etc. so I grabbed a small cup and ofcourse filled to the top. My total came out to $22. You don't know what you are going to be charged for until checkout and it's a bit difficult to guesstimate? Even so I will still be back for a healthy lunch/dinner option plus it's makes eating salads more interesting. Side note , if you download the app, there is a soup and salad special for only 8.99! I love salad. I could eat soup and salad for lunch every day and be happy...or even just a salad. When this place opened I was ecstatic to get my coupon in the mail! I loved all the choices on the menu and the hot bar items are actually very good too. The sweet potatoes are huge and baked to perfection! Why then do I not give this a 5-star? Because I hate being charged for the weight of food. Yes I hate the yogurt shops that do this too. A salad should never cost 17 or even $13...but to get a good lunch or dinner portion you're going to pay that amount or more...unless you are careful and have a coupon! Weird disclaimer: I hate salad. I really hate it. Why? Because it's something that you're mandated to eat whenever you try to eat healthy. It's boring with limited options and a lot of times you get more lettuce than anything with small, sad bits of protein, and maybe a tomato or two if you're lucky. So, why, would you ask, would I ever darken the doors to a place with Salad as part of its name???? Variety. Fresh ingredients. I looked at the photos on yelp and saw that this was no run of the mill salad bar with limited options with the results tasting almost the same no matter what you do. They had a large selection of bases, meats, extras, and oh my goodness, some excellent soup which I will get on to more about. My usual is turkey, bacon, avocado, and ranch with eggs where I throw in some extra veggies to at least add some color and nutrient value. I also like to go for seafood salad (with imitation crab) avocado, and ranch over some mixed greens. Their dressings are housemade, or at least taste it, and you can put as much as you want, or as little to only lightly coat the salad. You have the option to have your salad mixed and chopped for you. I do both, and I happily let them do it. That's one of my own personal challenges of salad is getting the dressing mixed evenly and cutting it into smaller bites so I don't give myself a dressing facial by accident. Their soups are some of the best I've had and I guess they change seasonally. My fave is the crawfish soup and the potato soup. Both creamy with a lot of flavor and spice! Making a salad weigh less than a pound is a challenge! Who knew! But I do love to load up on the greens and the rice, before topping it with the garlic chicken and a few other choice toppings. Why 4 stars, because they are legit that good. I will have to go back tomorrow just to get pics, oh and taste more food. This was my first time here's, so let's start at the beginning. Everyone making a salad has to wear plastic gloves, LOVE THIS!! The restaurant is clean and the staff is so so friendly. There are more than 5 different verbs to pick from so I went with romaine, spring mix and spinach. You can select from grape tomatoes or the tomatoes that are already chopped, I chose the latter, why work for it?!! There are various meats you can select from, but I went with the baked chicken from the hot table. And baby, let me tell you, it was hot, juicy and PERFECTLY seasoned!! Ugh, it was so delicious. There are also chicken tenders, soup and some of the prettiest baked potatoes on the hot table, that I will definitely be going back to try tomorrow, yes tomorrow!! Once you create your salad, ask one of the staff members to chop your salad, it was the best decision. My salad was so yummy and all mixed perfectly, that it doesn't require as much salad dressing - ugh, so good!! This place will be seeing a lot of me, like a lot. The selections of salads and toppings is great and the rest of the food options is good as well. I do wish the drink sizes were a bit larger. Healthy options that fill you up. I'm a huge salad fan. I don't cook much at home and when I do it rarely includes vegetables. Therefore, when I go out I always try to get my greens in. This restaurant is a very reasonable way to do so. They subtract the weight of the bowl so you don't have to worry about that. The salad that I built was less than 1 lb and the soup was less than .5 lb! This made my meal come out to about $10, which is a great price point for lunch. I love how they have little cups to try the dressing and the soups. If they didn't have those, I probably wouldn't have gotten a soup, but after trying the loaded baked potato I had to get a bowl. They also have the ingredients for each soup listed next to them. That's how I knew the loaded baked potato soup has heavy cream. Hey, I needed to balance the healthiness of the salad. Randomly, they don't have avocados or candied nuts, but pretty much anything else I would ever put on a salad was there. I wasn't a huge fan of the dressings, I tried a lot of them, so I went with olive oil. In the end I was happy with my salad. I'm just glad there is a quick, healthy option close to home. I have only ordered through Uber Eats. My new go to salad and wrap place, as the name applies. Lol. I do order once a week. Only a few times I had to throw away an entire sandwich, as the dressing got the wrap all soggy and disgusting and also had to throw away the hummus after the small 4 triangles of pita were gone. I also don't like that you only get a small cup of dressing for the entire salad and I have to pay more for more dressing just to have enough for a large salad. Also, on Uber Eats you can't customize your order even after I wrote "no Tomato" so I end up picking them out and throwing them away. They need to fix that.
