This was my first time visiting this test kitchen with my co workers and my last. The cashier rushed every customer to recite their orders in her attempt to stay efficient. She yelled "Next Customer! Next!" to get the line down like she was in a race. I witnessed my normally calm co worker become flustered when she rushed him along asking "spicy or regular spicy or regular spicy or regular?!" even making the "hurry up" gesture with her hands. To add insult to injury, the fries were dry and hard. The tenders didn't seem fresh just hot. The only thing I enjoyed was the Christmas music and the free refills at the touch screen soda machine. read more

If you work or live in the area this is a must try. It is conveniently located in an office building. Parking is no issue. I had the standard 3 piece spicy chicken strip meal and actually enjoyed the spicy flavor which paired well with my favorite honey mustard dipping sauce. You can eat in the kitchen area or outside in the lobby of the office building. The lobby is actually a nice area so consider eating out there. Life is busy and if I can get in a quick bite without sacrificing quality and good customer service then I'm sold. This place is it! This place is my fast food dreams come true! I've been here at least 4 times in the past couple of weeks and I devour every dish I get. Their bowls and salads are packed with protein and so much veggie goodness. The flavor profiles of each unique dish is never lacking! Once, I literally had to force myself to stop eating while chomping on the Freekish salad because it was so delicious. My stomach said, "stop eating girl, you're full!", but my tastebuds were saying "don't stop til' you get enough!!" This place man I tell ya!! It does something to me. I don't have one fav. dish here...I have three! I recommend the Korean BBQ Bowl, the Freekish Salad, and the Tuscany Bowl. Ok..update..... good french fries are gone..... back to greasy regular stuff as is the amazing hummus.....so basically, enjoy your fried chicken everything! This place offers very little as far as healthy or small... their salads have giant cubes of processed chicken in it... and then you're left with a thin "pizza" and a burger option. Similar to a PDQ with their classic chicken tenders on the menu, but also has "new" items, hence the Test part of the name of the restaurant. I tried the queso bowl. It needs more cheese, but other than that, it's a good size and filling for one. Raj recommended I try this place out for lunch and it didn't disappoint. Apparently this is a test testing restaurant for the PDQ franchise. Whenever they want to bring a new item to their menu, they try it here first. Food tastes good. The fries taste like the same hand cut ones you get at Five Guys, just a little smaller. They also have a soda machine just like what you see at the new AMC movie theaters, with every Coke flavor you've ever heard of. Talk about options! read more

First time ordering a pizza (Chicken Bacon Ranch) from PDQ. I'm not a cheese fan so I should have asked for light cheese (I just put extra ranch on it to drown out the cheese favor). Overall, the pizza was loaded with cheese, lists of chicken and bacon! Not as much ranch but that's okay since they have extra in the condiments areas. The menu is close to a PDQ restaurant and they also sell WOW Burgers which is a concept for their next restaurant launch. The service is extremely fast, the same as you get in a PDQ, and prices are very reasonable. They are open from 7 AM to 4 PM Monday through Friday. Disclaimer: My company provides me with a daily stipend for lunch, and the test kitchen is one of the places that I can use it. I'd never eaten at PDQ before starting with my current company. There wasn't any reason as to why I'd never eaten there, I guess I just didn't know that much about them. After starting with my company I quickly became a regular of the test kitchen, and now I look for PDQ standalone locations out in the wild while I'm roaming around. The test kitchen doesn't carry the full PDQ menu, but they also have some things that the other PDQ locations don't have. The buffalo chicken pizza is one of the best things I have ever tasted on God's green earth and I can't get enough of it. As I'm writing this review, I'm salivating thinking about it. Additionally, their salads and rice bowls are really generous portion wise and are satisfying lunch options. Do note though that during the lunch rush the line can get incredibly long. To the credit of the staff, it does move quickly, you just need to be a little patient. As other reviewers have stated, this location is in an office park, in a nondescript office building. Just park out front and walk into the lobby. Head to the left and you'll see it. Consider the test kichen as a beta testing food. You get to try unique things that aren't anywhere else, and by doing that you're helping a local company to do what they do best, make delicious food. read more

If you love PDQ, then you'll love this place. It's the R&D kitchen for PDQ and WTF (what the fresh). I met my husband for lunch one day. This place is located in an office complex where PDQ's headquarters are located. The menu has some standard PDQ and WTF menu items (burgers, sandwiches, chicken tenders) but it also has some trial items too. For instance, the day we were there they had a taco salad, which my husband ordered and it was very good. They also have pizzas. They looked really great and fresh so next time I will try one of those. The menu is about $1.50-$2 cheaper than a PDQ, which makes this place incredibly busy at lunch. We got there around 1145 and by noon there was a line out the door. Definitely a must try if you're a PDQ lover. read more

Great go-to for a quick take out lunch. It's in the Anchor building off Memorial and easy to find once you know where it is. It's inside the office building in the far corner. Not well signed though. They have a great and varied menu. The specials are always good too. Fast service from a well-oiled team. I like the salads since I'm low carbing, but the bowls are great too. The line may seem long if you come at the height of lunch, but it moves fast. There is also plenty of seating for dine in also. read more

I heard of the test kitchen in the past but this was my first visit. I have a friend that works in an adjacent building and she suggested that we eat here for lunch. This location is now titled PDQ but it serves food from both PDQ and Wow That's Fresh. The menus are identical to the other restaurants. There are a few specials that were available during my visit that are not standard on the PDQ or WOW menus. I am guessing this is the test kitchen component of the restaurant. During my visit one of the specials was a chicken bowl with black beans, rice, avocado and corn. The prices are the same and not discounted as I was preciously told. This restaurant is convenient for those who work in the area. The selection and quality is the same as the free standing restaurant so there is no need to come here unless you just want to try one of the specials being tested. read more

They had a counter set up I believe as Temporary Service Order and Pay. I ordered 4 Tender Meal with Waffle fries and drink. The Prep was only about 6 feet behind order station. Amazingly I noticed the hand breading Fresh chicken tenders and adding to Fryer!!! I asked do you fresh fry each order ???? Yes we do !!! The trade off is it takes about 15 min to get your order. Always consistently good food and quick service. I enjoy trying the chefs specials and see what new additions they come with in the test kitchen. My go to meal is always the Saucy Bowl with grilled chicken. It's filling and delicious and a pretty healthy option. The dining area offers a wide variety of iced teas and a Coke Freestyle machine. There is even a board room available for reservations for private meetings. My company uses it for an annual department lunch each fall. read more

Somewhat down the "In n Out Burger" track but different with an amazing burger sauce that comes on board. Fries are fresh cut and delicious too. We went here because we were famished and it is literally the closest restaurant. Normally I prefer a sit down place, but the somewhat cafeteria style worked out well for us, because we were also in a bit of a hurry. Good that we stuck to out guns on finding it, and also that we arrived at the beginning of the lunch rush. My sister and I had the sane texmex salad, and we both agreed it hit the spot. R & D Kitchen is located on the first floor inside an office building off memorial highway and anchor plaza highway in the town and country area off independence parkway interstate exit. R & D Kitchen is an experimental restaurant where Wow that's fresh and PDQ beta test their latest culinary creations before unveiling them nationwide to the masses. R & D kitchen makes some of the tastiest burgers in Tampa Bay. Its only $1 extra to add a 2nd patty to their burgers so I usually get the monster Double Bacon cheeseburger loaded with avocado peppers, onions, tomatoes, pickles, and lettuce. Sadly they did not offer sauteed onions and mushrooms. My buddy usually get the Saucy Bowl which includes Grilled Chicken, black beans, Brussel sprouts, corn, broccoli, and rice and is quite a large serving size and a healthier alternative to the burgers. The R&D kitchen also serves salad but it's not as good as Nature's table next door so I prefer going there on the regular and just coming here for cheat days. The R & D kitchen is a casual place so you have to wait in a line to place your order at the register and then a server brings your order to your table once it comes out. This place gets really busy during lunch time 1130-1230 during the week so I usually come after that. Service is not really applicable as this is not a full service restaurant. There is no alcohol available for purchase here. There are no tvs here either. There is a private parking lot on site with plenty of visitor parking available for those not working in the neighboring office buildings. read more

Yes, I am a fun and have been since PDQ moved into my neighborhood. Every meal has been tasty and delicious until today. Unfortunately, I purchased an early dinner which was a Thai Bowl. I have ordered it before in the past, yummy good!! Not this time, when I arrived home and prepared to eat my meal to my surprise it was awful. There were about three small pieces of chicken, the rice was clumpy and hard, Also, it was extremely dry. I believe they forgot to place the mango salsa in the bowl. Decided to try this place as an alternative to airport food after my flight landed. Not a great decision. My chicken was rubbery, the lettuce and tomato toppings colorless, and my fries oversalted. I was on a business trip to Tampa and working across the street. Myself and a colleague walked over for some grub. He mentioned that the line gets reaaaallly long during the lunch rush. Well the line was fairly short right then, so we got to the register and I ordered a special salad but noticed the Thai Peanut Bowl after. Should have ordered that. The salad was delicious with goat cheese, strawberries and grilled chicken. So good!!! Went back the next day and got my Peanut Bowl. It was everything I'd hoped. Basmati rice, chicken, broccoli, peanut sauce and mango salsa. Delicious!!! The line was massively long the second day but it goes quickly. Also they have a quick pay line for only chicken tenders and pizza. You can walk right up and pay via card. My only complaint is that this location is only open until 5 because it's located in an office building. :( I will absolutely be visiting there on my next trip back to town. read more

Their sandwiches are served on a brioche bun. IMO R&D's (or PDQ's) chicken sandwiches are better than Chick-fil-A's. Service is super quick too -- you can order and get your food in 1-2 minutes. read more

This is pdq's test kitchen. They have good options. My favorite is the burger blue salad. They have many things to choose from and have happy hour shakes from 2-4. A much better option for chase employees than the cafe in the FS3 building. read more
