    Checking out the test kitchen.
    Pietro M.

If you work or live in the area this is a must try. It is conveniently located in an office building. Parking is no issue. I had the standard 3 piece spicy chicken strip meal and actually enjoyed the spicy flavor which paired well with my favorite honey mustard dipping sauce. You can eat in the kitchen area or outside in the lobby of the office building. The lobby is actually a nice area so consider eating out there. It wasn't really busy so there was no wait to place my order. The lady behind the register was friendly and nice.

Life is busy and if I can get in a quick bite without sacrificing quality and good customer service then I'm sold. This place is it! This place is my fast food dreams come true! I've been here at least 4 times in the past couple of weeks and I devour every dish I get. Their bowls and salads are packed with protein and so much veggie goodness. The flavor profiles of each unique dish is never lacking! Once, I literally had to force myself to stop eating while chomping on the Freekish salad because it was so delicious. My stomach said, "stop eating girl, you're full!", but my tastebuds were saying "don't stop til' you get enough!!" This place man I tell ya!! It does something to me. I don't have one fav. dish here...I have three! I recommend the Korean BBQ Bowl, the Freekish Salad, and the Tuscany Bowl. The fact that they rotate their "specials" keeps things interesting and very tasty! They also have superb customer service. I am one satisfied lady and I will continue to come back for more!

I really need to give credit where credit is due. PDQ does cate to make things right. And it is remarkable how well they keep up with the lunch crowd. Today was a special they have had for a few weeks, chicken Parmesan pizza. And is one you have to add to your "must try" list. And, since my last review I can say the burgers are much more presentable.

Chicken Bacon Ranch Pizza (light oil)

First time ordering a pizza (Chicken Bacon Ranch) from PDQ. I'm not a cheese fan so I should have asked for light cheese (I just put extra ranch on it to drown out the cheese favor). Overall, the pizza was loaded with cheese, lists of chicken and bacon! Not as much ranch but that's okay since they have extra in the condiments areas. Not sure if I would order it again (too much cheese for me) Note: When going during lunch hour beware the line will be long (12:00-12:30), be prepared to wait. However, they do move fast.

Raj recommended I try this place out for lunch and it didn't disappoint. Apparently this is a test testing restaurant for the PDQ franchise. Whenever they want to bring a new item to their menu, they try it here first. Food tastes good. The fries taste like the same hand cut ones you get at Five Guys, just a little smaller. They also have a soda machine just like what you see at the new AMC movie theaters, with every Coke flavor you've ever heard of. Talk about options!

When you drive-by you cannot see this restaurant as it is inside an office building. It is a typical café/deli for tenants in the building and in the surrounding buildings BUT it is much more than that. The corporate offices of PDQ are in the building and this restaurant is their R&D and test kitchen. The menu is close to a PDQ restaurant and they also sell WOW Burgers which is a concept for their next restaurant launch. The service is extremely fast, the same as you get in a PDQ, and prices are very reasonable. They are open from 7 AM to 4 PM Monday through Friday. If you work nearby or are in the area and want a good quick lunch, this place is for you. The menu includes salads, pizza and milkshakes.

    WTF menu

If you love PDQ, then you'll love this place. It's the R&D kitchen for PDQ and WTF (what the fresh). I met my husband for lunch one day. This place is located in an office complex where PDQ's headquarters are located. The menu has some standard PDQ and WTF menu items (burgers, sandwiches, chicken tenders) but it also has some trial items too. For instance, the day we were there they had a taco salad, which my husband ordered and it was very good. They also have pizzas. They looked really great and fresh so next time I will try one of those. The menu is about $1.50-$2 cheaper than a PDQ, which makes this place incredibly busy at lunch. We got there around 1145 and by noon there was a line out the door. Definitely a must try if you're a PDQ lover.

Great go-to for a quick take out lunch. It's in the Anchor building off Memorial and easy to find once you know where it is. It's inside the office building in the far corner. Not well signed though. They have a great and varied menu. The specials are always good too. Fast service from a well-oiled team. I like the salads since I'm low carbing, but the bowls are great too. The line may seem long if you come at the height of lunch, but it moves fast. There is also plenty of seating for dine in also.

I heard of the test kitchen in the past but this was my first visit. I have a friend that works in an adjacent building and she suggested that we eat here for lunch. This location is now titled PDQ but it serves food from both PDQ and Wow That's Fresh. The menus are identical to the other restaurants. There are a few specials that were available during my visit that are not standard on the PDQ or WOW menus. I am guessing this is the test kitchen component of the restaurant. During my visit one of the specials was a chicken bowl with black beans, rice, avocado and corn. The prices are the same and not discounted as I was preciously told. This restaurant is convenient for those who work in the area. The selection and quality is the same as the free standing restaurant so there is no need to come here unless you just want to try one of the specials being tested.

We drove over with the biggest PDQ fan I know to check it out. It was a nice surprise and a little different but overall the menu has less to offer than the regular locations. They did have burger, pizzas and tots on the menu for their WOW, That's Fast (WTF) restaurant too but it wasn't anything the stood out. I was really hoping for something a little different. It's in an office building and on a Friday at noon they're really busy. It's a neat offering though if you're in the area.

Super fluffy I loved how everything paired well with one another the apples, blueberries, Nutella and marshmallow topping. The hangover hash was also quite enjoyable. I'd been studying the menu ever since my friend told me we were going. I ended up going with the avocado tartine and added smoked salmon. It was delicious and went well with a day of heavy drinking!! We also ordered the grazing board for the table which was amazing. I loved the assortment of cheeses and snacks. The butter on the board was bussinnnnn! I was in heaven!! I should mention the bottomless mimosas were $25 and the bottles literally just keep coming! Safe to say we were all feeling nice and toasty by the time we left. We hung out for a while without even getting kicked out I'd love to visit again and try more menu items. The server mentioned the cubano is the best Cuban you'll have. Now I'm always a bit skeptical bc everyone says that lol but the cubano came out looking gooooodT! I didn't try it but my friend who ordered it loved it! Parking was easy and right outside. We parked and checked in pretty quickly with ease. Thanks for the awesome service and experience! I definitely recommend adding district south kitchen & craft to your list of boozy brunch spots!

I positioned myself on the back deck for dinner right before sunset. I started with three broiled oysters in a classic topping of spinach garlic butter ($14). They were wholly delicious. Maybe I should have passed on the St Augustine Clam Chowder ($13), a bowl of lukewarm tomato based broth with datil pepper, pancetta and diced vegetables including potatoes. The highlight was to be a fried clam fritter- a clam golf ball that waded in the broth, like a beach ball in the pool. It was too fried to absorb the liquid and required a knife or a stab from the soup spoon to break it apart. Bits of clam were now exposed to a soggy mass of fried batter. Ugh. The jerk chicken entree ($34) was too much money for too little moistness and real Jamaican jerk flavors. Bits of papaya, mango and peanuts were around the piece of chicken. Sides of cilantro white rice and slaw accompanied the chicken but didn't do much to salvage the bird. Just meh. Service was prompt and friendly. So maybe the sunset serves well to distract from the menu.

Really, I came for cake, but I stayed for...everything else. I got good vibes upon visiting here with my pup Muffin. The folks at the hostess stand were super welcoming and seated me right away. Very shortly I was greeted by my wonderful server Amber. She told me all about the restaurant which had me even more excited to come here for dinner. She also gave me great recs for drinks. Being that it was a SUPER HOT day I went for a non-alcoholic drink (because I barely drink) and Amber recommended Ruby Slippers, which is basically a strawberry basil lemonade. OMG SSSSOOO refreshing, and when I dumped my water into the glass to get more of the flavor it helped quench my thirst. For my appetizer, their fried green tomatoes. Generous portion, lightly breaded and crisp, practically a tempura. Came with a thick dipping sauce with dill that was rich and refreshing all the same. For my dinner I went with the steak salad. Normally I don't do salad for dinner unless I'm unimpressed with the menu, but that was not the case here, rather I just wanted to eat a little lighter. I thought the steak salad would be a great choice. What impressed me with it is that it wasn't overly large like salads tend to be at other places, and had a great variety of ingredients including shaved gruyere. My steak was cooked PERFECTLY (I went with medium rare). The portion size was PERFECT and I could see myself eating this on a normal lunch day. And of course, I've saved THE BEST for last. The major reason why I came. Their signature namesake dish. WHISKEY CAKE. I was pretty fully at the end of the dinner, so I got it to-go. Turns out, it was smart move so I could pair with coffee and really take my time enjoying it. This is some SERIOUS CAKE. Tastes like dreams and toffee with a little bit of a kick. Moist yet dense with a hearty toffee and molasses taste to it, it comes with a side of vanilla cream cheese drizzle that I poured over the toffee and pecan covered top. It was PEFFECTION. So glad to finally try Whiskey Cake, and I would definitely be back--even if it's only to get a cake to-go!
