I've recently become a regular in Oldsmar not too far from Shaker & Peel and we stopped by with friends after an event later in the evening. It wasn't busy, so we were seated right away, and our server, Isabella E., greeted us pretty quickly. We ordered a variety of dishes ~ chips and guacamole (which had an unusual corn twist), the cauliflower appetizer, "Shrimply Irresistible," crispy shrimp tacos, lettuce tacos, and a few other items. Everything we tried was flavorful and well-prepared. I'm giving 4 stars mainly because of a small service miss. I ordered Pellegrino sparkling water, and it was brought with ice. I politely asked for a glass without ice, but that request was forgotten. After about 15 minutes, I ended up improvising just to enjoy my drink. It wasn't a huge issue, but attention to details like that really matters ~ especially when it comes to providing the level of service people expect when tipping 20%. The restaurant itself is spacious, with both indoor and outdoor seating, and the prices are very reasonable, which is a big plus. Despite the minor hiccup, I'd definitely return. read more

The kitchen is open at one end-and there's comfy, covered dining out front. After bookmarking this place years ago-and visiting its sister restaurant, Agave Social, several times... I was finally on this side of town at the right time of day and with time to spare. There are creative tacos, innovative bowls and salads, a handful of starters and a really fun cocktail menu. Since I was still (unfortunately) full from breakfast, I stuck with a starter and went with the cheese dip and chips. Our server was so kind to ask about food allergies-and then so accommodating to work around them. That was so appreciated. The cherry bomb cocktail (with mezcal and a luxardo cherry) was so layered and different. It's a sipping sensation. This is a good spot for families, friend meet-ups, work lunches, errand fuel-ups or even a casual date night. The food was so delicious, i loved how it was Mexican fusion with multiple different options. The lunch special is a great deal with 3 tacos and a side for less than $13! There are so many unique taco options, my favorite was the Korean bbq one and I love that there are multiple gluten free options. The only reason this isn't 5 stars is because the service was pretty slow. Staff was nice but it seemed to take a while to be tended to while it wasn't that busy. read more

This place NEVER MISSES! Ever! Went tonight and had the Chicago egg rolls which is shaved ribeye, cheese, some spice and just overall deliciousness! They are a must have every time we go! Tried the monthly special key lime cocktail and it was deliciousness! The perfect amount of sweet, the graham cracker crust on the edge of the glass, it was just so good! The Mongolian beef wok bowl is always fire! Tender juicy steak and veggies and rice with the perfect amount of sweet and savory! Large dish! The Tampa hot chicken taco is my favorite taco they serve. Spicy, crunchy, perfect. Service is always on point, the staff is very knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly, and the vibe of the whole place is just relaxed, fun, and a gastropub feel. My second time at Shaker & Peel - the food and drinks are SO good at the price point. Sat at the bar and got the Un-beet-able shareable. I was incredibly impressed with the range of flavors in this dish and how elevated the beets tasted. Homemade ricotta and champagne vinaigrette were stars of the show - chef's kiss! I tried the Tampa Hot Chicken and Korean BBQ tacos.. both incredible in flavor. Tampa Hot Chicken was so unique and each bite had a similar but refreshing taste. They always have creative specials and drink options, including lots of great local beers & a range of wine. Hot and fast service, too. Shaker and Peel is a taco place that is not a Mexican place. The menu is "foodie" style tacos. They are small, but with a wide variety of quality ingredients, and every tasty. When I say small, you likely want at least 3 tacos and a side for a regular dinner portion, in my opinion. There are also great sides, including my favorite -- the street corn. Yum. Of course you can get chips and salsa too. If in the mood -- Shaker & Peel also does a wide variety of beers, wines, and craft cocktails too. The tacos are not cheap. Amazing tacos. I don't remember the name but it was a very fresh tasting taco with avocado crema, cheese, and just felt refreshing to eat. Palate cleansing almost and was delicious. Right here in Oldsmar FL Shaker and Peel was a 5 star all the way around. I had the grouper taco and the spicy taco with a side salad and to top it off the rum enhanced plantains. Both the taco were perfect without anything needed. But their homemade hot sauce had lots of flavor to add and not too spicy. I actually would have liked it with more heat. The side salad wasn't my cut of lettuce. It had a bitter taste and I had to only ate a few bites. But..... the plantains more than made up for it. They were cooked perfectly and the dark rum glacé was dynamite. Ya it was that good. Jake was the bartender who served me and he was awesome as well. It was lunch time so he was pretty busy but he took care of the whole bar and I think he was training someone as well. Great job on his part. Once he found out I was a 1st timer. We enjoyed the Chips and Two Salsa app, before ordering our entrees. The salsas were not very spicy, albeit tasty. I would really prefer more bite with jalapeños or something. The chips were tasty though. For my entree, being plant based, there were two tacos that fit the bill - Flower Power and General Tso's Cauliflower. Both of them were filled with flavor and the perfect size, not only to fill me up, but also for folding due to the homemade, fresh nature of the tortillas. The cucumber on the cauliflower taco was the perfect counterpoint. The microgreens were an incredible addition to the Flower Power taco. Delicious! We also shared the Street Corn side dish which was really delicious. Def will be part of our next order too! Too full for dessert, sadly, but super happy to have found a VERY affordable restaurant. We're locals and go to this restaurant on occasion for the great craft drinks at the bar. That's honestly where they shine. However, we don't usually stay to eat dinner here because of the very limited menu. It's really just tacos and some odd, unexpected appetizers. If they were to add some more of the usual Mexican menu items to round it out (enchiladas, fajitas, or maybe a good chimichanga, etc), we would be regulars, but as it is, we just meet friends to have a drink or 2 with chips and queso and then go elsewhere. Went with my dad and gotta say felt like one of those uppity typical millennial restaurant. We were greeted with a kind hostess and great server who was o attentive to us and made sure we were good. We split appetizers of their queso dip and the steak rolls and they were phenomenal! That peak experience of eating food was meant with disappointment, I ordered their lunch special of 3 tacos consisting of Korean beef, volcano shrimp, and jerk chicken. Upon taking my first bite of the Korean beef, the flavor tasted like jack links beef teriyaki jerky and it was as tough as the beef jerky too! I couldn't finish the taco as it was too chewy. The volcano shrimp was subpar and lacked flavor, I sat there wondering why it was called volcano shrimp. Finally the jerk chicken, wasn't half bad. Chicken was a little dry but had the best flavor and consistency of the trio which is sad. To go with my taco's I had kimchi fried rice which was okay. The korean bbq beef taco was DELISH - 10/10 would get this again when we go back. The kobe cheeseburger taco was also good, it did its job of tasting like a cheeseburger...in a taco, but after tasting the korean bbq beef taco, everything else seemed to pale in comparison.
