Anyhow, I was expecting it to be like a regular Mexican restaurant, with a big dining room , where you could sit down and be served. But it was really more like a Chipotle, where you stand in line, request an item, and they add your toppings by request. Anyhow, it was good and fresh, with generous portions. Honestly no complaints I had take out on Cinco de Mayo. Got the nachos with steak and the triple taco combo. For the tacos I chose 1 each chicken steak and pork. You get to choose whatever toppings you want and everything seems fresh and is very tasty. This is probably my 3rd or 4th time visiting. The service is quick and friendly and the prices are fair. Oh get the hot sauce it's no joke spicy!They also have cold beer! Ambiance is strip mall tiny but it's very clean and I'd have no problem with eating in as opposed to take out. read more

I went to Juans for dinner with the family. It's got a fast food feel, where you order at the counter and then go up to get your food when it's done. The flavor was okay, but bland for mexican food. I felt like I could have made the same thing at home and th prices were a little high IMHO. I would go to Chipotle instead. read more

Out and about and in the mood for Mexican. My wife had been to Juan's and recommended it. I had not checked it out because I thought it was just a carry out. I was wrong. There were several booths for eating in. Juan's operates on the order, pay and your food is prepared. All orders are placed in carry out boxes, convenient for takeout or leftovers. Still on Weight Watchers, we were wanting to enjoy the food and still use our WW points wisely. We both decided on Burrito Bowls. My wife's with shredded chicken, lettuce, black beans, jalapeños, salsa and sour cream. Mine was ground beef with lettuce, onions, jalapeños, pico de gallo, and pintos (no refried beans). And I asked for hot salsa, not mild or medium. They gave me hot - perfect. Both meals were excellent, veggies crisp and fresh, just delightful. My wife was right. I finally made it!! I can't even tell you why I waited so long. SMH. But today is a good day. Now my tummy is happy and full. Located on Tampa Rd, next to Dairy Queen. You can't miss it. The sign out front will definitely catch your attention. I love that. The service was so awesome. Everyone was really nice and welcoming. I really love the simplicity of the menu. It captures all the yummy Mexican favorites. The style of service is great. You get to see and pick what you want. It's all right in front of you. I had a Burrito Bowl with Chicken. I also chose the Mexican rice and pinto beans to go with all my yummy toppings. Threw in some tortilla chips too. The food is sooooo good. Like really good. My picky husband finished his entire bowl. I usually buy a burrito once or twice a week. It has always been great until today. My husband stopped by to get me a chicken burrito with yellow rice, black beans, chicken, onions, guacamole, cheese and salsa. what he ended up with was a burrito with mostly yellow rice, onions and black beans. There was, maybe, a tablespoon of chicken, NO guacamole and a couple of tablespoonfuls of cheese and a tablespoonful of cheese. My husband said, as he was beginning to order the young women was completely focused on watching a young man who was driving a black truck pulling a trailer come into the parking lot. She watched him as he entered the store. Unfortunately my husband wasn't watching to see her put what he order on the burrito. As I said she was totally focused on the young man. In my opinion the burrito my husband was served was well below par. I believe my husband was ripped off. If this young woman was my employee, I would terminate her. As a reminder, people usually talk about a "bad" restaurant and bad service before giving complement. I'm not so sure I will return to this restaurant but I will caution my friends and neighbors to watch very carefully to make sure you get what you are ordering and ultimately paying for. read more

My wife and I brought our sons to Juan's on a Saturday right after they opened, and my first impressions were, "Wow, it's immaculate in here." We were the day's first customers and were quickly greeted by the folks behind the counter. The menu is simple, so it didn't take long to figure out what we wanted. I ordered a chicken burrito, and my wife ordered a burrito bowl with steak and a drink and chips for each of us. The drink area was also spotless and well-organized. We got our drinks, and by the time we returned to the counter, our food was ready. It's easy to compare Juan's with Moes and Chipotle because those are the two "big guys" that compete with Juan's. However, I won't do that because there's no comparison. The food was better, fresher, and had more significant portions than the other guys. Additionally, it was cheaper, the service was better, and the store was spotless. Even the bathrooms were well taken care of. I don't really have any complaints about Juans, but I wish they gave you more chips or allowed you to return and get more. I would also like to see a few more salsa options, but all that is mostly a personal preference. So anyway, I'm sorry Moes, but you're dead to me. At least the Moes in Oldsmar. While delicious, the store is always dirty, but that's another review. read more

This is one time when there really is truth in advertising- if the pictures of the food look good to you, you'll probably like it- the food tastes exactly as you'd expect it to from the looks. Pros: 1) Quantity- everything we got was loaded with ingredients. One of their tacos would fill 3 at chipotle. 2) Speed- our order was ready a full 10 minutes ahead of the projected time 3) Cost- we got a burrito, nachos, and a taco for $27. Not bad. 4) Sides- the burrito and taco came with a side of chips and salsa, which was a nice surprise Cons: 1) Quality- it wasn't bad, just fine. What can I say? Juan's is the steady Eddie of fast casual Mexican food. My go to order is the Steak Nachos. I love that I can pick my toppings and personalize my meal. I had high expectations of Juan's after reading some earlier reviews. Unfortunately, I wasn't very impressed. The restaurant was very busy when we visited, and they seemed to serve guests quickly with tables turning over at a good pace. The setup reminded me of Chipotle, where you go up to the counter and select your base (bowl, taco, etc), then choose the protein and toppings. This was where they lost me - the ingredients didn't look very fresh and the containers with proteins appeared to be sitting in tons of grease - not very appetizing. I was ready to turn around and leave, but my husband wanted to give it a try so we places our orders and dined in that evening. I tried a bowl with pulled pork, black beans, black beans and salsa. The rice and pork were bland, and the pork tasted greasy (which is understandable since it was sitting in a bunch of grease. I was hoping to find a local restaurant where I could find a flavorful pulled pork bowl like I get at Chipotle, but this was a very disappointing imitation. My husband tried a bowl with brown rice, spicy steak, pinto beans, cheese, lettuce, salsa and sour cream. He enjoyed his bowl (which is why it got the 3 stars), but the rice was also not flavorful. I'm planning on trying Juan's again to give it a second chance - hopefully the day we visited was a fluke and not representative of their normal quality of food. read more

I am so stuffed-- chock full of fresh ingredients and kind service. Thoroughly enjoyed spicy chicken nachos with any topping I wanted. They have everything you crave and more: two kinds of beans, dual rices, cilantro, corn, sour cream, homemade salsas and a tomatillo sauce that rocked my world and the three tacos I split with my man. You can choose your meats, plain or spicy shredded chicken, pulled pork, flavorful ground beef or spicy shredded steak. Reasonably priced and also a selection of sodas, teas and beer. I don't think there's anything about this place that I don't like. I always love the staff, and of course I love the food. They are very generous with their portions if you just ask for more. I will say I'm not a fan of their queso, It's too thick and doesn't stay liquidy for long, so I no longer get that. My wife & I stopped by Juan's Mexican Grill for lunch today. We both got their Tuesday special (2 Tacos, Chips, Salsa and a fountain drink). The carnitas were good; but "juicier" than we like. The chips were typical corn chips; and the salsa was routine salsa. We also tried a flan for dessert. It was passable. Both of us rate this restaurant at a "3" on Yelp's 5-point scale. Just moved to the area. The curb appeal is what led us to come in, the building is bright, colorful and stands out. the people working were welcoming. Its set up like Moes, but the place is immaculate and eveything looked so fresh. The meal itself was satisfying, the portions were pretty big as well. The complimentary chips were crust and nice, the taco salad was the bomb! Our kids love the beans and cheese burrito. Juan...listen...just filter the water that you cook and drink with (RO) - your tap water tastes like well water, and so did your rice and drinks, etc...the hot sauce had no flavor, straight up peppers. It could be so much better... read more
