Chicken Milanese Torta
Mike F.

We wanted to try this restaurant after noticing it on N Hercules at Allard Dr. It is a little hidden between a gas station and a barber shop. We stopped in for an early lunch on a Saturday to find a modern, clean interior so we grabbed a nice booth. We were greeted promptly with chips and salsas. One was a spicy red and the other was a tomatillo avocado sauce which we quickly devoured. My wife ordered the carnitas dinner. They were slightly spicy and she liked them a lot. I ordered the chicken Milanese torta which was done in the classic Mexican style with breaded chicken cutlets, refried beans, queso fresco, avocado, tomato and jalapeños on a large mexican roll. The sandwich came with perfectly cooked skinny fries. Our server asked me if I wanted the spicy jalapeños when taking our order. The sandwich was huge and delicious. I was intrigued by the restaurant's name so I looked it up online. La China Poblana is a Mexican legend of a 17th century Christian woman named Meera who was abducted from India. After many travels and hardships she became a source of inspiration for Mexican people. Her story is long and inspirational. We will definitely be back. We also want to stop in to try their Mexican breakfasts.

Huevos Rancheros

Got the Huevos Rancheros...The whole dish was fine and tasted great...The only problem I had was that the rice and beans were kind of just look warm....The sauce on the eggs was particularly tasty...I also got a side of hot sauce but there was hardly any heat in that at all....They give you complimentary chips with green sauce with avocados in it...That had a nice cilantro taste to it...Overall good home cookin'....The servers were friendly and the restaurant was clean.

Carvor's Fish House - Grouper fingers

I grew up in the Midwest, with a typical "meat and potatoes" diet. On the rare occasion that…read moreseafood was on the menu, it was typically a frozen variety like Groton's, or the occasional fish fry at the Elk's Club. That's changed since moving to the Gulf Coast of Florida, where the fish at the local restaurant today was probably swimming yesterday. My "go-to" seafood now is a grouper sandwich which I order blackened but NOT fried. I've sampled grouper sandwiches from many local dining establishments, but my favorite is from "Carvor's Fish House" A couple of important notes: 1) Carvor's is only open for LUNCH. Their hours vary, so you'll want to check the website, but they typically close at FIVE PM, with the last order accepted at FOUR PM. 2) Carvor's has NO inside dining The patio is tree-shaded with extra umbrellas but if it's really hot, you may be uncomfortable. 3) Carvor's has COUNTER SERVICE. You go inside, order your food and THEN go back outside and select a table. When your food is ready, a server will bring it to your table. 4) This is downtown Dunedin, and parking can occasionally be a challenge on Douglas Street, but FREE parking is available in the city parking garage across the street. Pictured is my "blackened grouper" sandwich. A refreshing change from the usual French fries is their homemade chilled tomato, cucumber and onion salad. Delish!

I've only been there twice. The first time I just had an appetiser which was really good…read more Unfortunately, I can't remember which one it was. The next time, we went for lunch and they were out of some things that we initially ordered, but we ended up with a heating plate of fried things that kind of felt like bar food. It is a cute spot and I would probably try it again. I just did not think it lived anywhere near up to the hype that most locals give it.

What an unexpected great experience! Wonderful food and service! I'm not much of a seafood person…read morebut I ordered the Greek Salad and added grilled shrimp. So good! My husband ordered the Sesame Seated Tuna. He said it was amazing! Live music started at 5:30. Just a nice way to spend dinner!

It was crispy, plentiful, and disappeared pretty quickly at our table! For dinner, three of us ordered the Connecticut-style lobster rolls, warm Maine lobster with butter, and WOW! They were absolutely loaded with huge pieces of lobster. No skimping here! The warm buttery lobster on the toasted roll was so good, and the hand-cut fries were delicious too. The best part was that this was my daughter's very first lobster roll, and she LOVED it! Seeing her face when that giant lobster roll came out was priceless. I think we officially have another lobster roll lover in the family! My son went with the Lucky Burger, made with a brisket and short rib blend, and that was a hit too. It's always nice when a seafood restaurant also makes a great burger for someone who isn't ordering seafood. And since it was my birthday, a cocktail was definitely happening! I ordered the coconut mojito and it was SO GOOD! The sweet dried coconut around the rim was the perfect touch. I would absolutely order it again. Great food, generous portions, fun atmosphere, and a wonderful birthday dinner with my family. We will definitely be back!

From the moment I saw the seafood case, everything looked ridiculously fresh, and that freshness carried straight onto the plate. The Tides is both a seafood market and restaurant, so you're surrounded by beautiful seafood and ingredients that actually look like they belong there. Then I noticed the MICHELIN plaque outside the building and thought, wait a minute... THIS place has Michelin recognition? Apparently, yes! The Tides has earned a place in the MICHELIN Guide, which suddenly made a whole lot of sense after tasting the food. That salmon was seriously some of the best I've ever had. Fresh, beautifully prepared and so clean tasting that it didn't need a bunch of heavy sauces or nonsense piled on top. It felt like one of those rare meals that is indulgent because it's delicious, but you also walk away thinking, I actually ate something good for me. The Tides was a genuine surprise, and now I'm wondering how many other little gems I've been driving right past without knowing they were there.

The fried shrimp basket was good but the fish and chips really didnt have any taste to the cod. The slaw and potatoes were good but their food reminds me of the tourist trap seefood restaurants by the beach. Chefs should start tasting their own food to know if it tastes good or not or maybe they were raised in a bland household but someone needs to understand taste and seasoning.
