Staying at the JW Marriott and close to 10pm with everything closed around us but saw this place across the street and yelp had it at 4.4 so we had to check it out. So glad we did! Cute one man spot! Tito is the host, the chef and the cashier. The interior is filled with fun quotes that Tito has put into the Mexican fighter theme. We had chips and queso (pass). The queso was from a can and not memorable. My daughter had the chicken nachos which also had this cheese but they were just ok. The steak quesadillas and the birra tacos were the highlights followed by the black beans. They were excellent. Great experience all around and perfect for a quick eat. read more

Just across the JW Marriott in Clearwater is an intimate little taco joint that caught my eye. This place piqued my interest especially since I'm a taco fanatic being from Texas. Came into this place when they announced their opening hours at noon so I came with an appetite. However, when I arrived at noon, the owner said he still needed about 15 more minutes to be ready. Already being hungry, I had the option to leave yet I stuck around. The master chef was the only employee in the place and he was the one who prepared our entire meal. I appreciate the hustle of the owner putting his heart and soul into preparing our meal. I ordered a couple discada tacos, which essentially is a meat sampler taco. Each taco came to about $5 each. I'm usually not upset at the price because I did order a taco that contained basically every meat on the menu however being from Texas, I expected to get this size taco for about half the price. After indulging in a bite, I was disappointed with the lack of flavor. Even the accompanying lime and taco sauce barely did enough to let the flavor stand on its own. Usually corn tacos have two corn tortillas to help with the structure but each taco only came with a single corn tortilla. The structure collapsed after one bite and I never really tasted any cohesion. The taco never felt united. It just felt like a disassembly of several parts that never sang together in perfect harmony. read more

Truly terrible experience overall. For starters we order birria tacos and guacamole. The birria tacos were just fried STEAK tacos. Do not be fooled, they promote it as birria and it is not. The consome looked like tomato soup. If you're looking for authentic birria you won't find it here. Second, the "guacamole" is literally a pico de gallo. If you're thinking the mashed up avocados that is not what you will get. And lastly, TERRIBLE service. The guy was so rude when we confronted him. Mind you, my boyfriend is Mexican and I have had my share of authentic Mexican food. The man basically insinuated my boyfriend is stupid. My boyfriend has an authentic birria truck and we were just hoping to get a nice experience on our vacation around here. For a hefty price tag of 20$ for birria and 15$ for guacamole be aware! read more

Delicious!! My girlfriend and I tried this place and it deserves way more people in and out of these doors!! The pastor street tacos were an absolute delight and it was so fresh! Very disappointing. Spent $28 (including 20% tip bc guy was alone) ordered the lunch special and churros. Churros were very small but appetizing... the flautas tasted like 7-11 fast food. No flavor no cheese, no guac bc the "avocado was hard". This was very expensive. Not authentic in any way I would not eat here again read more

Not sure how anyone who actually ate here would be leaving anything above a 3 star review. Hair everywhere. Zero and I mean ZERO, ambiance. And that would be okay if the food was half way decent. Cheese dip.....come on! How hard is it to make a gringo cheese dip. It was cold, thick and sadly, the best thing i ate there. When did mexican restaurants stop giving free chips and salsa???? This is not in a tourist area and not a high rent district, so if i was them, try free chips and salsa. The menu is confusing. How do you want your tacos? American or street? I dont know bc the menu only shows one way....but if you get the other way, it costs more. I asked for the crema on the side and then got charged for extra crema. I did not even want the crema!!!! I was excited to see a small taco shop while I visited the area. The service was quick, and the menu looked awesome. Three steak tacos almost equalled one at most taco shops. It came with rice and what was suppose to be beans. It was two black beans and the soup from the bottom of the pot. Nothing tasted bad, it was just minuscule. When I left, I let out some minuscule farts. read more

Wow. Just unbelievable how this guy charged me $50 for some mid Mexican food. I was in line and was ordering but this guy seemed in a rush and I look around to see he's the only one there... So I ordered 2 orders of BIRRIA tacos and two sides, one of rice and one of beans. I heard him say it was 30 but then when he gave me the check it was 50 and already charged me. So I was like okay maybe the food here is worth how much it costs.... Definitely not! The rice was so dry and had no seasoning, beans had too much salt and the birria tacos had steak instead of beef so it was not birria lmao. the portions of the sides were insanely small . Overpriced in my opinion I'm never coming back and would never recommend to anyone overpriced junk food tbh. My wife who is from Sweden can cook up way better BIRRIA tacos and smoke this place. The only thing I liked was the music... my daughter was dancing. read more

Happened upon Chihuas Tacos by coincidence. And frankly I couldn't be happier. My wife and I were looking for a quick afternoon meal and it was disarmingly delicious. Don Tino is a one man army: he is the cook, cashier, and server. His carne asada, chorizo, and el pastor tacos were immaculate. His salsa verde was the perfect balance of sour and savory, and his salsa taquera was sweet and spicy with chiles de arbol. In a part of Florida where the restaurant scene is dominated by Caribbean Latino cuisine and fish shack couture, this place really stands out and I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. Service was quick, the food was delicious, and in my humble opinion worth every penny. The atmosphere was lively painted with the color palette of Puebla, playfully decorated with luchadores and champion Mexican Boxers. The play list was the best of the Gypsy Kings, and Tino whistled along as he worked. Gracias Don Tino, la comida estuvo muy rico. read more

This place is overlooked and underrated just because there are so many options. They are friendly and have the most authentic feeling. Food is amazing. I have enjoyed everything I have ordered and been coming here for 4 years. Tacos are my favorite but the burritos are a close next. If you want the best mexican food in Clearwater Beach this is it! This restaurant is a Gem. Everything was fresh and cooked on the spot, even the churros! If your looking for healthy, clean, non-greasy Mexican food then this is the place to go. The reason for the 4 stars is because I wish there were more veggies/different veggie varieties in the veggie quesadillas. I loved the amount of cheese though! Listen, I am from Cali born and raised from a first gen Mexican family so I am rather spoiled when it comes to Mexican food. Now I live in Kentucky with my spouse so good Mexican food is hard to come by. This spot right here has some of the most delicious asada y pastor I've had in awhile. Really glad our hotel was next to the restaurant. The owner is a very nice man too and I think he works alone I'm sure he would appreciate more help! Absolutely great place and would come here over and over again! The al pastor was incredibly flavorful, and the grilled onions took it to another level, adding that deep umami richness you just can't get anywhere else. The red hot salsa deserves its own mention -- dangerously spicy, but so addicting you keep reaching for it even when your mouth is on fire. That's the sign of a great salsa. The birria was tender, well-seasoned, and served with the tortilla properly drenched in consommé -- exactly how it should be done. No shortcuts here. Handmade tortillas, authentic flavors, and heat that walks the line between painful and perfect. When we dined there was a guy doing live cover songs and he was a total vibe! I was there with a large group from work so we were able to commandeer our own little section. Conner took care of our entire group of about 14 people and he did not miss a beat. I really enjoyed the street corn ribs equally tasty and creative. I had the crab and shrimp creamy enchilada and boy was it creamy. Almost to the point where I couldn't really enjoy all the flavors. The nacho trio was ordered as an appetizer and the queso guac and salsa were all quite good. I enjoyed my turquoise turtle cocktail. I'm not sure if that's the right name but it was yummy. I would not hesitate to come back to this establishment.
