Juliet is one of those places that always has last-minute availability when I look for dinner reservations on Resy. It has good reviews, so I'd been curious to try it, and got the chance a few weeks ago, when we needed a last-minute dinner reservation for six on a Friday night. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is part of that whole Platform complex in Culver City. It's a contemporary French spot, new and pretty, with a nicely designed interior and a spacious patio.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We sat inside, which seemed like the better choice, and had a pleasant, relaxing dinner. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibe was upscale but comfortable, and also on the quiet side, with probably too many empty tables for peak dinnertime on a Friday night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I hope Juliet is doing okay. It's a great restaurant that should appeal to a lot of people. Service was welcoming and professional, and the food and drink were excellent. We started with cocktails, and I really enjoyed my Le Sage, a refreshing mezcal drink with sage, Cara Cara orange, and peppercorn. I also tried my husband's Mon Coeur, with cognac, rye, cherry, and Benedictine, and my friend's Coco Chanel, with rum, pineapple, coconut, and green tea. Both lovely. We shared a bottle of wine with the rest of our dinner, a light French red that worked well with most of the dishes on the table. We shared a few appetizers, and these were all delicious. I loved the tarama, a flavorful whipped cod dip with salmon roe, dill oil, breakfast radishes, and toast. Could've accidentally eaten two whole plates by myself. The possion cru was a cool, zippy crudo with sliced amberjack, radish, Meyer lemon ponzu, serrano oil, and cilantro. The salade d'endives was a beautiful plate of tender endives with walnuts, grapes, and Roquefort cheese. My entrée was solid, if less memorable: the daurade royale, a sizable fillet of wild sea bream served with ratatouille and a vibrant green sauce pistou. My husband's côtes d'agneau, or lamb rib chops, were good, though a small portion (I stole a nibble), with chickpea purée and olive tapenade. I also tried one of the cigares de confit de canard, duck confit "cigars" rolled in crispy thin layers of dough, kind of like egg rolls or taquitos, with a side of sauce valois. Not bad, if a bit strange as a main course. I get dinner in Culver City with some regularity (central meeting point for me and my oldest girlfriends), and am always on the lookout for quality restaurants in the area, especially ones that work for larger groups. I hope to revisit Juliet in the near future, and would encourage others to check it out, too. read more

There's nothing like having a beautiful dinner with my mama! We met up in LA for the weekend, so this was perfect for our first night out. We arrived around 8pm and were greeted by the wonderful host, who squeezed us in even though I messed up on the reservation. Totally kind crew. Mama and I were sat immediately and we ordered a few delicious items: We started off with The whipped cod. WOW this was so flavorful and delicious. Accompanied by some crusty bread and radish. Absolutely wonderful! Next we had the Salmon Carpaccio. Flattened salmon, with a yummy mustard sauce on top. Mom pulled out her handy dandy chopsticks for this one. So so good! We had a big and beautiful salad with a delicious and light vinaigrette, yellow beets, and capers. This was fresh crunchy and light. Exactly how I love my salads. Finally, to close out the meal we had the crudo and this was both of our favorite! Buttery fish in a delicious lemon sauce topped with Serrano oil. We could have easily had bowls upon bowls of this. Such a lovely dining experience. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This beautiful restaurant was very romantic and had delicious food to match.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Parking is available through valet or self parking or street parking. I really loved how the menu was concise and not too overwhelming. My group and I ordered a lot of different plates so there was a good variety of things. Started off strong with my cucumber spritz which was absolutely divine. I also had the oysters, Crudo, the duck cigars and the sea bream. All of those items were exquisitely prepared and had really good flavor. For dessert, we had the eclairs and the chocolate mousse and the Madeleines which were served warm with whipped cream. Juliet is a very beautiful restaurant (and surprisingly big). What's not big is its menu. It is a VERY tight menu. The options are definitely limited. But the things I ate did deliver. I got the cod dip--really smooth and tasty with some nice grilled bread (possibly a dash too burned but still good). They also served with a bunch of radishes if you want... less carbs?!? Next, I went with their signature chicken liver tartlet. I don't really like taste of liver and normally wouldn't order it but it was not a problem here (there was a faint taste of liver but it mostly just contributed a rich smooth texture to the filling). Bizarrely, this dish actually kind of tasted like a salad with its apple gelee, hazelnuts, and then this topping which I thought was frozen and shaved blue cheese but I discovered (by asking) that it was frozen and shaved brown butter. The whole dish was very good though. Although, honestly, a little bit hard to eat with a fork because everything kind of crumbles and it's hard to pick up. I got the Special Potion cocktail with calvados which was good (a dash strong though). Lastly, I got the half chicken plate with mushroom and truffle jus. The chicken is deboned which makes it easy to eat. I liked the bread underneath soaking up the jus. Overall, very homey and satisfying (although, it KIND of tasted, and I know this sounds like anninsult, like a exquisite chicken frozen dinner--you kind of get chicken and mushroom and the standard French herbs in those sometimes). Unfortunately, the food did not live up to atmosphere or service. The food was rather bland both in taste and looks. There was no color in the food; in fact, they all look pretty similar. Came to Juliet for my love and mine's anniversary. Dinner was spectacular! We have considered coming in to eat on multiple occasions but have shied away from Juliet's smaller menu too many times. Boy, was that a mistake. I am so glad we finally dined here because everything we experienced far surpassed my expectations. Our server Amy was an absolute gem; she was warm, knowledgeable of the menu, and guided our experience with poise and elegance. A trendy French restaurant with beautiful food, that's just okay tasting. The scallops and the endives were the best parts of the meal, everything else was not worth it. Their desserts are definitely better than the food. The service and ambiance are excellent, but overall I can't say their prices match the quality of food. Chicken liver tartlet - 2/5, the flavor is not bad, but I've had better liver mousses. The white, buttery crumbles are not the best topping, they were messy and not appealing to look at. Endives - 4/5, I really enjoyed the endives. The peppery mustard seeds dressing went really well with the blue cheese. Duck cigars - 1/5, very disappointing. They were freshly deep fried, but lacking in any kind of duck flavor. Scallops - 5/5, seared to perfection and so decadent in a buttery sauce topped with lots of chives and trout roe Risotto - 3/5, had a lot of potential. The mushrooms on top were grilled well, but overall it was just super salty so I couldn't eat very much of it. Today was genuinely one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. We made a 9:30 PM reservation around 9 PM and drove across town to eat at Juliet in LA. When we arrived, we were told the kitchen was already closed because they "didn't see" the reservation before deciding to shut everything down early. We even called right after making the reservation, but nobody answered the phone. What made the situation worse was the attitude from the host. Instead of apologizing or trying to help, he seemed annoyed that we were even there. His response was basically, "The kitchen is closed, I don't know what else to tell you," and he added that this had "never happened before." No accountability whatsoever. On top of that, the restaurant claims they validate valet, but we still had to pay $20 for parking with validation, which we paid before even parking. So we drove all the way there, paid for parking, and never even got to eat. How do you not check incoming reservations before deciding to close the kitchen early? And if the restaurant is no longer serving food, why are reservations still being accepted? Beyond disappointing. Completely unprofessional experience from start to finish. read more

The venue is GORGEOUS, the bathrooms were clean, and I loved the open air aspect of the restaurant. Service was super duper, our server was very friendly and helpful. She explained and answered all of our questions that we had. I gotta say, they had a great Americano, I had two. I ordered the croque madam and it was super filling. The egg on top just made it so good, it was cooked perfectly. I love the cheeses and the diced up ham inside too, this is considering that I am not much of a fan of ham but this tasted amazing. We had a table order of the Assiette de Saumon but I didn't even get to try it because I was already full. We didn't even have room for dessert, what a shame. They also had a deal on the InKind app for $50 off with I think $200 purchase? So we took the opportunity to use that as well. It's unfortunate it's so small so that we have less to enjoy. It melts in your mouth and it's unique. I enjoyed the Salade d'Endives, Salade Classique, and Tarama, but the chicken liver tartlet outshines the all. For entree, I got the Daurade Royale (wild sea bream) which was a decent serving size, but not as much flavor as I expected. I had the pleasure of a return visit after two previous meals here while traveling to LA. Juliet is becoming a must for every time I'm in town. Onto the dishes that are still on the menu: Poisson Cru: 5/5 My favorite crudo of all time. The serrano oil and meyer lemon is an incredible combo. I wish I could eat this every day. I ordered this twice my first visit. I pray they never take this off the menu. Oysters: 5/5 Do oysters need roe? No, but so well balanced with the cucumber. I prefer this dressing over classic mignonette. Tarama: 5/5 A fantastic starter with bright, crisp radishes to pair with the rich cod dip. The dill oil is brilliant. The salty toast rounds it all out. Chicken Liver Tart: 3.5/5 This was so well executed, but as I keep trying, I'm not a fan of liver. So rich and buttery from the liver filling to the cheese. If that's up your alley, you should definitely order this. Poulet Roti: 5/5 If you're looking for a hearty entree, this is it. An unbelievably juicy half chicken with an umami mushroom sauce and bread that's soaked up all the flavors on the plate. Shockingly flavorful for chicken. Steak au Poivre: 5/5 Cooked to perfection. Fits my preference for a leaner cut and paired with a peppercorn sauce I asked for on the side. Served with fancy yet comforting duck fat mashed potatoes. Chocolate Mousse: 4.5/5 A nice sweet taste to end an amazing meal. Not cloyingly sweet or heavy. The crunch pearls give a good texture contrast. Wine: 5/5 A wine list for all tastes. N/A Drinks: 4/5 I always appreciate the inclusion of N/A options and any restaurant with a bar should, but I didn't love the N/A beer they had. Hoping they add more options. It's easy for restaurants of this caliber (and price) to be extremely snooty and judgemental, but the staff is consistently friendly and helpful. This alone makes Juliet a top pick and recommendation to all friends. I saw Juliet made it onto the Michelin guide and it's so deserved. The execution in the kitchen is impeccable and I'm lucky to say extremely consistent. Everything is perfectly cooked, seasoned, and plated on time. I've never had a dish arrive cold, overly salted, or sloppily plated. My only wish is that the poisson cru was always portioned the same to 8-9 pieces. The mouth feel on the thicker cuts (6 piece serving) is great, but thinner slices allow for more sauce. Juliet is well on their way to a Michelin star and I hope more people discover this gem. Having wrapped up my fifth (at least lol?) visit to Juliet, I thought it was about time that I write a review. In simple terms, Juliet is a beautiful restaurant with delicious food, an outstanding wine list (by the glass and by the bottle), and a great staff. In a time where I avoid dining out often because I feel that most restaurants don't offer me the same value and experience as they used to, Juliet has been a spot I have frequented because each experience has been exceptional. I've dined here as a part of large groups and just with a single friend, and each time I've loved the food and service (I am bad with names, but Lauren? especially has always been so welcoming and helpful). I haven't always remembered to take photos of my food, but my favorite dishes are: -Tarama - the whipped cod dip with dill oil, radishes, and bread. Such a refreshing and satisfying starter - I get it every time. -Mousse au Foie de Volaille - Chicken liver tartlet. A delightful and dainty melt-in-your-mouth starter. -Salade d'Endives - endives, walnuts, grapes, and Roquefort. Sounds simple, but extremely satisfying flavor and texture contrasts as a starter or side. -Coquilles Saint-Jacques - seared scallops. I have tried almost all of their entrees and this is my favorite. -Madeleines au Beurre Noisette - brown butter madeleines with salted honey chantilly. The plump, moist cake with the perfectly crisp edges and the indulgent flavors - addicting and great for sharing. I know not everyone is a wine lover, but if you are, this is the restaurant. An outstanding list (seriously, check it out for yourself) with something for the casual enjoyer as well as the true wine nerd. And they are happy to help you out when you bring your own bottles as well. One of the biggest reasons I keep going back is the staff. Everyone has always been so kind and accommodating, and whenever I've asked about the menu or the restaurant, everyone seems genuinely passionate and happy to be there. Two final side notes - -They have great bathrooms, and enough of them you never have to wait -If I had to complain about anything, it would be that they are cashless, but I know I'm in the minority to complain about that. We were ecstatic. I, the vegan, was unfortunately begging the servers to be fed. Everything from our fixed menu for my coworkers looked absolutely delicious (raw fish bites, fish dip with bread, zucchini with a koji glaze, salads, risotto, lamb chops, fish, dessert). 5 minutes after our starters came, I had to ask the staff if there were starter options for me. They weren't giving me any options and said that I have 2 dishes prepared coming later in the meal. Juliet's planned meal for me was a 10 inch zucchini and a plate of mushrooms with a sauce. I had to ask them to bring me bread with oil for my starter. During our main course, I was given the plate of mushrooms. I asked the servers if there was anything heartier that the chef could make for me while the rest of my coworkers got 3 dishes to grub from. I was hoping the chef could make some sort of rice dish given that they served risotto to the rest of the table. I was given a loaf of bread (photo attached). No dessert options were provided either. The fact that I had to l beg your servers for bread is insane considering how much $$$ we were paying per head. I could have made this exact meal for myself for $10. This is a let down and please come up with another at least 2+ vegan dishes. This is LA and it's embarrassing that you only came up with two vegan "dishes" for a "three course meal." To vegans/friends of vegans: if you're okay with just bread, zucchini and mushrooms for a meal, go for it. Otherwise - avoid this spot. To the non-vegans: enjoy! Came here on a Tuesday for a girls dinner. When I made the reservation, the GM reached out to me to ask if we needed any accommodations or if it was a special occasion which was so nice! Walking in, the interior is SO CUTE. It's one of the reasons I wanted to come here - I've driven by a couple times and always wanted to go in. Our servers were also great and super attentive. We started with a bottle of Chardonnay, the chicken liver tartlet, oysters with trout roe, and duck confit "cigars". The tartlet was delicious - crust was super light and crunchy and I loved the pairing with the apple in it. Also can't go wrong with some oysters. The trout roe added a punch of extra flavor. Duck confit cigars were like very elevated eggrolls - very tasty and satisfying to eat. For our main, we had the lamb rib chops (forgot to take picture), which were also delicious. Cooked very well and the chickpea purée with olives added creaminess and saltiness to the dish. We ended dinner with an old fashioned each, madeleines, and eclairs. Both desserts were great, but I would recommend the madeleines. The brown butter really makes a difference! I would recommend this restaurant for a date night or girls night! Nice for pictures and the food is delicious. I'll be back to try the other menu items! read more

You don't need a special occasion for Juliet, as any meal makes your meal feel festive. Beautifully executed food--we loved most everything we ordered: steak, mushroom risotto, endive salad (the duck cigars were just okay). However, the service felt flat. We were there for a birthday, which we noted on the reservation. Then the hostess asked specifically if it was a special occasion. I assumed after several hundred dollars worth of dinner, they might bring a small token dessert. Nope. We asked the waitress, "Do you have a good birthday dessert?" To which she replied, "Well, just order something and we'll put a candle in it." Gee, thanks. In addition, they sell several champagnes by the ounce. A great idea, right? But when we asked to taste them before we ordered a glass, they said curtly, "No, you'll have to pay for an ounce." Great food. Questionable approach to service. read more

Juliet - The Lunch That Turned Into a Love Story We thought we were showing up for omakase, but our happy mistake became a full-on culinary love affair. Course after course, champagne after champagne -- this wasn't lunch, this was luxe noon alchemy. Every dish was a masterpiece, beautifully plated and perfectly paced. We're true foodies -- we've eaten all over the world -- and this ranks among the best. The balance of flavor, texture, and surprise was just... chef's kiss. Joe, our server, made it all even better -- attentive, joyful, and the kind of person who seems to get it without you having to say a word. We were able to grab a last minute reservation on a Thursday night. We were seated promptly, but the restaurant was not very busy anyways. Service was... snooty. They were all up in our business trying to get us to order wine (asked us three different times). Once they realized we didn't want wine, they disappeared. They recommend you do family style here. I do too because if you don't, you may be sitting there starving for quite a while. Food came out very slowly - one plate at a time once in a blue moon. Each portion is rabbit sized. As in they were tiny. We dropped like $250 for three people and left hungry. Food was ok. Some dishes were interesting such as the Mousse au Foie Volaille, a chicken liver tartlet with apple gelée. The fancy snow on top tasted like cheese popcorn. Interesting - and a little yummy - but this tartlet took the "let" part of its name seriously. It was tiny. I don't think any dish was particularly delicious or satisfying enough to warrant the portion size. read more
