First of all, five stars for the nail techs, especially Jenny. She's very communicative and talented at her job. There was another female nail tech there, named Li who is amazing as well! The facility is clean and well maintained by the cleaning lady there. The 0 stars is for the owner Julie. I had the worst experience at a nail salon of my life because of her. She is extremely unprofessional and has anger issues. She yelled at me and made a huge scene in front of everyone in the shop and refused services to me at the end because of her stubbornness and temper. This all started a couple weeks ago when after by manicure and pedicure with Li and Jenny, I tried to make an appointment with Jenny and Julie (A different nail tech with the same name.) and the owner Julie denied it, but told me to call and make an appointment two days before. Cool. I waited two days before I wanted the appointment and called like she told me too. Julie picks up and I asked if I could make an appointment for Julie for a full set acrylic with design and with Jenny an acrylic pedicure. Julie tells me she can't make an appointment for two different nail techs at the same time, but I could be with Julie for both mani/pedi. I was confused because the last time I was there, I had two nail techs working at the same time so I asked again and she tells me she can't because Jenny is too busy. I accept a Mani Pedi just with Julie and made the appointment for 4:30 PM. On the day of, I show up 30 minutes early and was greeted by Julie the owner. I asked again if there was another nail tech available to do my pedicure at the same time as my manicure but she said she can't because they're too busy. Then she says that the other Julie is gone too because she is sick. But Jenny is there and could do both services for me. I am a bit confused and ask for clarification and explain I'm short on time, but she cuts me off and tells me I can only get a manicure and pedicure from Jenny. I settle with that and sit with Jenny and had a great manicure experience with her! I'm going to Vegas for my birthday, so I asked for a manicure that's Vegas themed and she did a gel X manicure with beautiful designs perfect for the trip! It took a little over two hours, but I appreciated Jenny's meticulous nature. I noticed after a while that Julie kept walking by Jenny and speaking to her in Vietnamese and seemed like she was rushing Jenny to hurry up so she could take the walk ins coming in. Since it took awhile for my manicure, (Understandably so), Julie asks Jenny to ask me if I could come back another day for the pedicure. I told her no, that today was the only day I can get my nails done ,and I made an appointment. PLUS I showed up earlier. She spoke some more Vietnamese to the other workers and said that it'll take a minute but someone will do my pedicure. I asked her I thought Jenny was going to do both and then she tells me my manicure took too long and now Jenny has another manicure appointment. She seem to get really upset when I asked and kept talking over me. I wait a while on the pedicure chair and noticed the other nail techs leaving since it was past 7 PM, the salon is closing time. One of the nail techs that left asked beforehand what I needed and I told her the acrylic step pedicure and she and the owner speaks some more Vietnamese and then she leaves. I wait another 30 minutes. Julie then walks over and starts my pedicure and complains to me while doing it. I explain to her that this is the reason why I wanted two techs to work on me at the same time so it would it take so long. She then tries to blame it on me like it's my fault.l that no one can do my pedicure and now she has to. I explain to her that I tried working with her by wanting to make an appointment earlier on, and I even showed up early to my appointment. She then got angry at me and accused me of trying to fight with her. She then starts being rough with the pedicure drill on my toes and I ask her to stop. She yells at me some more and walks out. The other Nail tech then tell me she told them they can't do my pedicure. I then leave and the other customers there that witness the whole thing sympathize with me and we're shocked just as I am that happened. This is a nice salon but the owner is not. What a terrible experience. Response to owner: This review isn't one sided. I explained all what had happened. I tried to book an appointment two weeks in advance. You told me to book two days in advanced. And then when I got there I requested multiple times to have two techs work on both pedi and mani at the same time but you refused. You took in walk ins despite knowing that I still needed a pedi after the mani. I told you ahead of time of what services I needed done. Maybe that's why you got angry at me and yelled at me and your employees. I never once raised my voice at you and kept calm even though you the business owner was acting so unprofessional. Customer service was awful, I'm not sure what I could have done to tick anyone off unless it was who I was with which is still very uncalled for. My nails are probably the worst set I've over had and they just sent me out the door very rude mannered. The color is chunky and uneven. Not worth your money. My first time here and I'll never go back. Not only did they have to add more polish on my toes because the polish on the two big toes was see through, but the lady who did my nails didn't listen to a single request I made. I asked to keep the length and just trim my natural nails a bit and to shape them, and they cut them so short that my fingers hurt. My natural nails went 2 cm past my finger tip. They also left hardened dip powder on my finger tips. When I brought it up they said for me to wash my hands at home, and when I said I'd do it there to see if it would come off she said no and then began to file my SKIN to get it off, which didn't work as it's still on my fingers. Not only did she file my skin, but she also used cuticle cutters to CUT my skin so the hardened powder would come off. These look horrible & im going to another nail salon now to get them removed. read more

I am really glad that I started coming to this salon since their "Grand Opening". Last week I went into Julie's Nails and got a "Dip Nail" service. The tech who did my nails did a great job & provided great customer service. Anyways....today my middle finger nail completed lifted and I jumped into my car and drove over to see if it could be saved I was greeted by the owner Julie and she told me to take a seat in her chair and she would fix my nail. I wanted to rave about her passion for her business & the love she has for her customers. Again, Julie had me sit in her chair but not only did she fix my 1 nail but she told me that she would redo my whole set and for NO CHARGE I was not expecting that but she wanted to make sure that I left with nails that matched since my other nails had already been growing out During our chat, Julie politely excused herself and spoke with an employee about a behavior she did not approve of. I love that she spoke with her employee but did not belittle them and also apologized to the customer. She wanted to make sure that her employees were not distracted and that the customer got all the focus. These are great traits to have in an owner of a business and it's not going unnoticed. I am disappointed. I've been coming to Julie's for over a year now. I've had wonderful experiences up until today. I asked for pricing when I made my appointment to ensure I was prepared and she told me a fill was $57. My card was charged $75. I am not picky with which nail tech does my nails, but maybe this is a sign I should be. The middle aged man who did my nails talked to me, a 21yo woman, about his SEX LIFE for an hour. I did not say a single word. completely inappropriate. I called the owner after to tell her about this experience and mentioned both the overcharge AND inappropriate comments, yet she only seemed to care about breaking the price down for me. I don't know if I came in on a bad day but I've never felt more uncomfortable at a nail salon. I came in 2 weeks ago for the first time, as my regular nail person was on vacation so I decided to try a new place and had a really good experience the first time. She was a native woman and was kind and funny. I decided to come back today for only a pedicure due to that and this will be the last time I go here. I made an appointment in advance and just felt so rushed and like I was in a salon of mean girls. The gal working the front desk was really aggressive but at least smiley, unfortunately she rolled her eyes and her whole face dropped every time she turned away from a customer, I counted 3x just when I paid attention. Luckily she wasn't the person working on me but unfortunately I got the fastest, laziest pedicure I've ever had. My partner goes to get a pedicure with me, we both got the luxury package ($50 each for the luxury, with an additional $15 for gel on top of that for me) the gal doing my partners nails took her time, and the woman doing mine skipped half the steps or did them super fast. I didn't get my cuticles pushed back, and she barely scrubbed my callous area. She moved so fast that I did my whole pedicure with gel and had to wait an extra 5-10 mins for my partner to finish just his pedicure, no polish. I ended up going to Sallys beauty supply to get callous softener to do it myself after realizing on the way home how bad it was. Before leaving I decided towards the end to just do my gel manicure in the salon to save time. The gal doing my pedicure was trying to upsell me, and I took the bait, why not? Saves me time not having to go to my main nail salon and it'll match my pedicure color. As she's starting the front desk lady starts telling her in another language to go to another customer. The front desk lady then coldly tells me I need to wait. Listen, I understand that someone came in and was waiting but why try to upsell me and then be mean to me now that I said yes? I would have waited honestly, I don't mind waiting, but it was the way the lady working the front said it, with eye rolls and attitude that I decided just to say nevermind and finish up. Her whole tone changed after I said nevermind and she's like oh we can do it fast just relax, all smiles now, and she tried to get me to sit back down, realizing she just cost the gal who was doing my nails some extra money. I said it was fine, I got up and sat in the waiting area embarrassed by the interaction, watching my partner get his pedicure. It hit me what happened after looking at my feet and seeing how rushed the work was compared to the pedicures I've gotten in the past and I genuinely just feel scammed and rushed, it was the exact opposite of nice and relaxing, and I'll probably have to get my pedicure done way sooner than normal due to the cuticles not being done. I'd take my money elsewhere honestly. I regret tipping the 20% when I just wanted to get out of there but looking back, I'm embarrassed I let someone treat/talk to me that way. Let alone someone at a place where I'm paying for a service/experience. read more

Aweful! I am so upset. My nails have been on a week. They are already coming off, like the nail is seperating from the dip powder. I called them, they said they could fix it. Then when I got there, they pretty much blamed everything on stuff I did and didnt take any accountability for their half ass job. They said they could glue it on. Glue isnt going to help. I would not recommend this place at all. I am now on the bus trying not to cry on my way back home in the 118° heat. Anna was nice but I would not get your nails done here. Period. read more

Just went here to get my nail fixed after I had broken it. I went somewhere different to get my full set that is extremely far away so I thought it would be more convenient to go here since it's right by my apartment. The nail tech had explained to me it might not be an exact match in terms of color since I didn't get them done there, which I totally understood. I expected in the least that it would be the same shape, length, and a similar color. I am not one to leave negative reviews and I kept trying to manipulate myself into thinking they looked fine but girl let me tell you the one they fixed looked completely different in terms of shape length and color. The nail tech did it in a rush and when I told her it looked completely wrong she was like "sorry" and didn't even offer to fix it since it was completely shorter than the rest of my nails and short pointy almond when I specifically asked for long and rounded. Normally I would never think to leave a bad review and would just move on with my life, but it upset me that the tech did not seem to care at all and still charged me when I was verbal about being extremely unhappy with it. read more

i would not come here if you want dip with tips. i dont even know where to begin. i've gotten dip with tips for years now and know the process pretty well. one thing i noticed that the lady did was not tap the excess powder off my nails after dipping, and would use her finger to pat the powder on my nail. this made them super thick and clumpy. then after applying like 6 layers she went straight into shaping, when normally they buff first so they dont have to file through so many layers. the shaping was... something. i asked for almond and my thumb looked like an acorn or a canine tooth, and was significantly shorter than my other nails. all the edges were really bumpy and each nail was going in a slightly different direction. then she used this extremely thin electric buffer to try and smooth my thick bumpy nails down, and i swear she spent 15 minutes on one nail and it didnt do anything. i kept seeing her look frantically in a drawer so i thought they maybe didnt have the right tools? and that she didnt have a thicker buffer? so then she drops the buffer and grabs a regular nail file and is going ham on my the top of my nails to MANUALLY file away the bumpy surface and make it thinner. in the process my cuticles and knuckles were abused and they were so sore the next day. i appreciated the fact she knew she messed up and was trying to be resourceful in making them look good, but then i saw her pull out one of the thick buffers and was like ??? WHY DIDNT YOU USE THAT??? anyways it took like 2 hours to get them done and i just wanted to go home. i tipped because she was dedicated and i felt bad because the manager kept coming over and raising her voice at her (probably because she was taking forever AND they looked terrible), but i am definitely not coming back here. the manager tried to gaslight me before i went to pay, she asked to see them and i showed her and she went "so beautiful!!" like girl please be so for real right now. also the top coat peeled off the next day, and after 2 days the corner of my thumb nail started to come up. i ripped all of my nails off. a good $80 worth of nails that realistically lasted one night. i'm giving 2 stars only because i could tell the lady knew she messed up and did a lot to try and save my nails. read more

I am someone that goes with a natural look for my nails do to my job. The variety of pink powders is beyond more than I have ever seen in one nail salon! It's nice clean and brand new!! The staff is fantastic and friendly and actually talk to you (if you want). I love the overall ambience and so happy to find Julie's Nails as it is close as it is to ASU Tempe and the interstate, being super convenient for me! I can't wait to go back!! read more

My best friend and I visit here for the first time, I was excited to bring her here especially when she's visiting from out of town I never write bad reviews (first time) I was so embarrassed after the fact that all the employees starting with the "owner Julie" was talking cursing words about us both not knowing we speak Vietnamese too. She was giving us dirty looks across the room. The reason they were upset with us was because we asked politely to cool off the water, Our feet was turned red from the overheated hot "boiling water" so naturally you would take your feet out. We did not made a scene we were quiet about it. And the owner was cursing at us because she had to turn on the cold water which we only asked ones. (They didn't test the water and assumed it was perfect?) and Julie said "if they can't stand hot water? Who would marry them?" In Vietnamese. And look at me and said put your feet back in although she didn't asked if it was comfortable for me? It was not tolerable, it made my feet red. The owner continues with more gossips across the room (I would understand if we were demanding or rude or whatever it was) but we were not .. They were rude and not welcoming They continue to talk crap about our looks our skin colors and the condition of our skin ! and the bags we carried. (Talking about our skin is beyond inappropriate) I didn't take it personal that's why I didn't respond to their rude on going conversation about us in person although we should have. My best friend was furious and wanted us to walk off .. I would not recommend this place to any of my friends or family or anyone Our pedicure was very basic not impressed - a one star Toward the end, Julie said sit here and wait until your toes are dry out. Less than 2 minutes, Julie goes on and continue more gossip "why are those fat girls still here?!" I still tip, and say thank you in Vietnamese and the look on their face was shocked. We didn't deserve discrimination and such poor treatment. We were patience the entire time. extremely disappointed in the service and the product! my friend and i were super excited for this salon to open but do notttt go here if you regularly get your acrylics done and expect them to look a certain way. i asked for a medium length full set with regular polish. my nail tech cut my nails short without confirming the length before cutting the first nail, so i was unable to say anything. i had also asked for regular polish, and the nail tech tried to switch out the regular polish for gel without me noticing. i politely asked for the regular polish i chose out and the tech was rude when i tried to remind him i didn't want gel. the nail tech also scratched me with his drill multiple times without an apology. when checking out, they had also ticketed me for $50 (even though i had no extra length, no extra shape, no extra design) when they said it would be $45 (minus their grad opening special). they had also asked verbally asked for a tip.. i usually tip 20% but this service was bad, the nails are uneven, and was an overall poor experience. read more
