A man filed my nails and put the acetone on, they left me sitting there until 12:40, while the lady that was to do the new no chip was finishing a pedicure. DO NOT GO HERE! I've been going here since this place opened considering it's right next to my house. The last 2 times I've gotten acrylics my nail bed has just torn off with the acrylics... they make them so thick that you can't soak them off. They don't sanitize their tools either.. I realized that after getting a fill and seeing white crap(someone else's nail debris) on their filing tools. This is the worst manicure I've ever had. I said up front I don't want my cuticles cut or trimmed just pushed back. While using the electric nail file my lady cut all of my cuticles so much that 8 of my 10 fingers are bleeding and peeling and really hurt. Even after I told her it hurt and was too rough she still kept filing away my skin! I also said I wanted the shape to be oval/round and they are more almond/pointy. The dip is very uneven and bubbly. Definitely not worth $45. She didn't even do lotion or a massage, just the poorly done dip. read more

Came here on a Saturday evening for a manicure pedicure. The lady did my manicure standing next to me while I sat in the pedicure chair as I was getting the pedicure done. While cutting my cuticles she cut my finger twice because she was rushing. There was one other customer in the salon. She never apologized just kept chatting along with her team mates. My finger bled the entire time I was there. I had to ask her to clean it. She never apologized and never offered a discount. I asked her to discount my bill when paying and she gave me $5 off. I tried out this salon because they could fit me in for an acrylic set later in the evening which was great. I told the tech I wanted them super long and she cut them down shorter than what I wanted without asking if it was an okay length. Whatever I can grow them out for next time. Then I asked for a coffin shape and they definitely look more square and the shape is just not very well done. The polish isn't painted all the way to my cuticles but they look alright when you're not looking close. The woman was upset that I changed my color before she even started painting and at first said no, before I insisted I wanted a different color. She was very aggressive with my hands and it was kind of uncomfortable the whole time. Glad they could take me when they could but I won't be back. read more

I only go to Julies Nails because this location is close to my house and they are open late enough where I can squeeze a mani/pedi before they close. I think that their prices are high for the work that they do. I am never happy when I leave but its a convenience thing for me. I hate that they do not put your flip flops on until after they finish your pedi. Even when I ask to put them on before, they insist after and sure enough the hit my nail. They also do not speak English in front of you, which makes you feel very uncomfortable. They also say whatever they want. I in my late 20's, had a woman in her early 60's sit next to me. I was getting a purple-ish color, she mentioned she would like the same color. The woman doing her nails said, that color is not for you, its not age appropriate, and goes and gets a light pink/nude and said this is better for your age. I went to the salon 2 days ago for a fill and will not go back. The tech cut my nails way too short and never used a base coat before polishing my nails with no chip. I did not say anything and now my nails are chipping. I just called to see if I could stop by to get them repainted and she said they were way too busy? I went to Julie's Nails for three years for acrylic French manicures and pedicures. Only Ana and Vickie know how to do acrylics. Other people's reviews are accurate in that their limited English prevents you from asking for much of anything special. But the biggest problem I have is their lack of an ability to take an appointment or to be honest with you if they can't take you right away. They will tell you to pick a color and sit and wait for an hour, not knowing you are going to end up there for an hour before they start. I tried to stop after work on a Tuesday night. I was told Ana had the night off, to come back tomorrow at 6pm. I showed up at 5:50 the next day as I was told to, and they took two other women before me, who had arrived after me, and I should have had an appointment and they did not. If you have plenty of time to sit around and wait, they are cheap and do acceptable work. But my time is more precious to me, so I will not be going here anymore. I now go to 10 Nails down the street for gel nails, which are much easier on my nails than the acrylic was. read more

Stopped her after work for a no chip. I came in as a walk in. The lady butchered my fingers to the point I had to tell the lady enough. She cut me on 4 out of 10 fingers. Never said sorry and told me my skin was too thin. She attempted to continue her "trimming" when I had to stop her. She was stunned I didn't enjoy bleeding finger tips. She actually said to me. I am so disappointed right now. I have been coming to Julie's nails for the last 4 years for special occasions because I liked their service and the techs are very nice. I am not sure if all of them were having a bad day, but today it took 3 techs and almost 2 hours to do a natural toned no chip manicure. The first tech had chosen a color that was different than the one I initially chose, which was fine because I trusted her. But the polish started to come out very chunky and sparkly on my nails, something that doesn't come to mind when you want natural toned, and she kept asking me if I liked it. I am a very soft spoken person, so when I was unhappy with the color choice she had chosen and that it was not coming out smoothly, I had to speak up and let her know that it wasn't what I had in mind. She then continued to tell me that the reason the polish wasn't settling was because my nails were too weak and that the problem wasn't the polish but my nails. So now thoroughly embarrassed I contemplated leaving the salon and not getting my nails done all together. A very sweet tech tried to do my nails but the base coat polish still came out chunky, so we sanded it down and did it again. She was a very sweet girl but I think she was nervous after what happened and was trying to speed up the process so I could leave faster because I had now been there for an hour and a half. And my nails are not clean and not smooth and now I am stuck with them for the next 2 weeks. She offered for me to pay only 20 for the nails and I just did and left. I was the first one in the salon today and I left an hour and 40 minutes later. I am very very disappointed in what happened today, I am very embarrassed with how Anne treated me. She has done my nails many times and knows that my nails are just fine and that the job that she done was not her best. Very very very disappointed. read more

It was my first time here I was out of town and couldn't go to my normal salon. I needed a dip since I was going on vacation. They soaked my nails in acetone to remove my old nails for 35 minutes. I sat there. For 35 minutes. Then, my technician was rude to me and took an additional 35 minutes to dip my nails and used a variety of top coats that took forever to dry. When you get dip nails they are supposed to cure and dry immediately. She put a regular top coat on it. My nails were chunky and i even and there were spots the top Coat wasn't applied. The manicure was over and I went home. 2 days later, my nails began to chip. When I normally go to twees nails in crystal lake, my dips last beautifully for an entire month. Here, not even a week. This is how my nails looked when I arrived for my vacation. I was mortified. They were crumbling. I will never go back here and I will never recommend that anyone else does. If I could give this place a ZERO I would. I was a walk-in as I couldn't get an appointment at the right time at my regular place. I needed a gel fill. There were two customers getting pedicures and no other customers. But there were three other technicians just milling around. They sat me down right away, and after waiting for 15 minutes, I got up to walk out and one of the technicians came over to me, PHYSICALLY GRABBED ME BY THE ARM, dug her nails into me and would not let me go. When I tried to kindly ask her to remove her hand, she started pulling me by the arm back the chair. She said they would do my nails right away. I stressed to this lady that I am super sensitive therefore no digging and to be super gental-it's almost as if she did the complete opposite. I started coming here about 2 months ago. I had a hard time finding a place that actually took the time to do my nails and not rush. My first time I walked in, everyone greeted me, and when I sat down they brought out a bottle of water for me. That alone was a nice gesture I haven't experienced with the other salons in the area. Dropped my sister off at Julie's nails today to remove her fake nails, a manicure. The lady who did her nails kept trying to get her to have the fake nails put back on even though my sister said no from the beginning of the appointment. She wants to give her natural nails a break. The lady kept asking her if she was going to pay. My sister repeatedly kept saying yes and even showed that she had the money to pay. Mind you my sister has gone there several times, has always tipped well. My sister has some special needs and I bring her there as it is convenient. However... Today was the last time!
