I've been coming to Nail Story for a couple months now. They are a little more expensive ($35) for the shellac manicures I get, but I find it worth the extra money. I have my nails done by "Sarah" who does an excellent job. I've had my nails ripped apart before by some places; they are so rough and I typically end up with a bleeding cuticle or something. But not at Nail Story. You always get a shoulder massage with your nail service as well. They do have a rewards program, if you get one of their business cards and fill it up with 10 services, you get a service free. The facility is clean and small with no TVs. They play music so softly that you can hardly hear it. They also get super busy in the afternoons when all the teachers get off work. I tend to go late afternoon and they are always slammed. The salon is open until 7pm on weekdays I believe and all day Saturday, but closed on Sunday. They only accept cash tips - you can't put it on your credit card. All in all, I'm willing to pay the extra $5 each visit if it means gentle treatment of my nails and a free service after I've paid for 10. read more

I have been coming here regularly for over 8 years and it is the absolute best nail service in all of the surrounding towns. Their prices are cheaper, I receive better service and they also include (for free) a great neck/back massage. I love their No chip and get it on my hands and toes. On my hands, I can go about a month before I need to come back. They also have this awesome new chrome layer they add for a small extra fee that is beautiful. I rarely get my nails done so decided to treat myself to a full set. Recently moved to Cary so I decided to give nail story a try. I got a full set and paid $45 plus tip and am very upset with how they turned out. Not only did they look rough but I got them done for vacation and after 6 days one fell off after 8 days I'm down to 5. I have never in my life had a nail fall off I have always had to have them soaked off. Will not be going back. Although everything was clean I thought the price for the service was average but the results were very poor. read more

The $30 mani/pedi is great! It's a cute, clean place. I've never had a bad experience here an I've been going for about 4years. I'm not too good about sitting and waiting for my nails to dry and almost always manage to mess them up a bit. The ladies there are always very nice and fix them for me if I ask. When they fix them they completely redo my nail, they don't try and do a cheap fix where they use the minimum amount of remover to remove the smallest amount of nail polish so they don't have to redo the entire nail. I'm living in Chicago now and I compare all the nail salons I visit to this place. I must say that it beats them in price every time. The staff at this place like all places had some excellent technicians (I really like Gina and Sarah) and some ones that are good, but not great. All give the standard mani/pedi, but Nail Story gives you an excellent shoulder rub. They apply enough pressure in shoulder/neck rub so it actually feels good and not like a wussy back rub. It also lasts more than 15 seconds like I've experienced some places. read more

What a horrible experience at the nail story in Cary. I wanted to get a pedicure and my acrylic nails removed and they wanted to charge $45!?! Are you freaking kidding me? That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. I didn't want to manicure I only wanted my acrylic nails removed and they said it's the same price either way. $25 to get my nails removed that is asinine! The front desk Korean lady maybe she didn't understand that that's not my problem she was ridiculous and obviously didn't want my business. This review is for nail story. I've been going there for a while and love Kim the owner the last two times I had a pedicure and then a manicure both people were very rude and rough. No neck massage which I don't really care about and also kept telling me how to move my fingers and my feet. I will give it one more chance since I like Kim. Another client recommended Sarah to me so I will try her next time. I've never had such rude behavior from a manicurist. 20% tip and not even a thank you that's my last time for that!! read more

I have been here only about three times. In my search for the best nail salon in the area. This place reuses foils for taking off no chip ...GROSS! I had a lady who didn't even paint my whole nail...she did such an awful job. Not impressed. The music is more s"spa-like" which I appreciate when I want to relax. They give shoulder massages as part of their regular manicures. Have always loved this place. But the last time I went on a Saturday they were very rushed and hurt me a couple of times during pedicure. The didn't soak my feet before jumping right in, didn't clean under my nails (wth??)put a scalding hot towel on my legs and then rubbed my legs with her thumbs so hard I yelped. Very disappointed. My daughter (who is a minor) paid to have acrylic nails put on. The end result using one technician per hand, two different nail styles. Four days later, the nails on one hand completely came off. On the fifth day, the nails on the other hand did the same. Knowing acrylic nails should last longing than four days, I called Nail Story and spoke with Suen (sp?). She told me to have my daughter make an appointment for the nails to be reapplied at no additional cost. On the day of the scheduled appointment, after waiting 20 minutes, watching several technicians sit without clients, my daughter was told to have a seat and without discussion was informed she would again have to pay for the full set of acrylics. Bottom line, as told to me by Sarah, after she rudely put her hand to my face to stop me from speaking with a shish sound, was that I completely misunderstood my conversation with Suen. I asked to speak with Suen. Sarah called her, but handed the phone to me after they spoke for several minutes in their language. I listened as Suen regurgitated Sarah's "nail story." Instead of admitting to the possibility of any wrong doing, like forgetting to prime the nails, Sarah claimed that the average length of time acrylics adhere to your nails is 3 days!
