The store can help you wire money to loved ones far away and really seems to serve as a community hub in so many ways. I go every year for my pupusa fix. You'll want to call ahead for them since they make them to order and they take about 20 minutes. Or you can get them from the freezer case to make at home (about $10 for a four pack). I picked up a daily special of carne asada on a recent visit, which came with white rice; a whole pickled jalapeno; two thick, Salvadoran style tortillas; black beans; grilled scallions; and iceberg lettuce / tomato / cucumber / lime. The carne was reasonably tender, but definitely not something one should try to attack with a plastic knife and fork. It's the kind of place that makes me feel embarrassed that I speak Spanish on a Sesame Street level since everyone is a native speaker -- but folks are awfully nice nonetheless.
