I brought in a pair of pants and Julia did a nice job, no complaints about her work. But I did not find her especially friendly or welcoming. On both visits, her mask was off. She put one on only when it was time to measure me. When I came back to pick up, she did not put one on at all until I asked (and then did so without a word - no oops or sorry, I forgot). I found that uncomfortable. It would not be reasonable to expect her to wear it all day if she's alone in the shop, but if you are running a business, you should put one on when a customer walks in the door. read more

Difficult to work with. I wanted alterations done on my wedding dress and she was kept trying to talk me out of the alterations I wanted. The alterations that were done on the top of the dress were fine, but I wanted the dress tighter on the rest of it and she kept trying to talk me out of it. I ended up taking it to another seamstress in the area and they said they can absolutely do the alterations on the bottom, not sure why she kept trying to make me do something I didn't want to do with my dress. read more

I had a horrible experience here. When I originally gave my dress in, the tailor asked me if I could give her a good review on yelp to get 3 dollars off my bill. Explains why this place has good reviews. I went to pick up my dress from the tailor 4 days after the date and apologized for being late... well turns out that she completely forgot to do it. This was four days after she originally told me it would be done. She had no idea what I even came in for and didn't remember my dress. When I told her I was upset she said "well you also forgot so.." with no apology except that she would get it done by that afternoon. When I got there for the second time that day, she AGAIN had no idea who I was or what dress I needed. When I tried on my dress, it looked like she had not even worked on it. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Wish I got my money back. read more

I went to Julia Custom Tailor to have a bridesmaid dress altered, with only a week before the wedding. After Julia told me all I would need is a hem and the straps taken in, and I could pick the dress up the day before the wedding I felt relieved. Unfortunately, I had no time to try on the dress prior to the wedding I was in. When I put the dress on, I realized THERE WERE NO ALTERATIONS DONE. The dress dragged on the floor and my straps fell down the entire night. I compared the photo I had taken of the dress before alterations and you can see there was no difference. Not only that, but the dress was more wrinkled than when I brought it in. Lastly, she only lets you pay in cash so you can't even dispute that she did nothing. Will not be returning and very disappointed to be ripped off this way. read more

I am a regular customer of Julia's and I decided to leave a review after she was able to fix a wedding outfit with a ripped zipper that other places felt uncomfortable fixing. She is really good at listening to your request but also providing insight that only an expert tailor would notice. For example I did not like my boxy blazer and told her to shorten the arms and length but instead she pointed out its the shape of the front that needed changing - it ended up looking amazing. I trust Julia's work so much that I give her my own creative projects and she delivers! She has helped me with 7 total items and 3 full suits. She did the worst job ever. Last year I went to this tailor with this beautiful red dress that I needed for a wedding, I asked her if she would be able to close the dress because the leg slit was too high up, it went all the way up to my hip and it was also too long, it had a train that I thought she would be able to cut off and use to close it. She did close the hip, however completely disfigured the shape of the dress so that when I wear it it goes completely over to one side. I couldn't even wear this dress and had to last minute resort to something else also because when I had brought it to her, she had told me it was going to be finished by Wednesday. After arriving Wednesday, she said that she didn't do it and to come back Friday. When arriving Friday, I recieved this horrible rushed last minute job which she charged 95$ for. I would never go back to her again and would advise you all not to either. read more

Having just moved to UES, I needed a super quick turnaround on a raincoat, like next day before I headed out for a week overseas.
