Just popped in with my partner for a couple of pizzas around dinner time. We ordered the Spicy Ronny and the Fun Guy. I think it's always smart to grab a classic combos on a first visit to any pizza spot; it's worth it to come back if those are solid. First off--let me say the crust is really good: crispy and airy at the same time. It's easy to bite through but doesn't sag or buckle under the toppings. The Spicy Ronny didn't quite live up to the promise of its ingredients. With pepperoni, ajika chilis (a traditional Georgian spice), and Calabrian chili, I expected something with more depth or even just a little edge. But it ended up being very salty and pretty greasy, and the flavor never really came together in a meaningful way. The Fun Guy was more interesting. It's a mushroom pizza with a cream sauce, and the mushrooms (maitake, morel, and a few others I've never heard of/can't spell) were shredded, which I actually liked. It meant you got a little bit of mushroom in every bite instead of big chewy pieces. What I initially thought was balsamic turned out to be tamarind sauce, dotted across the top like chocolate chips (seriously, they looked like chocolate chips on the pizza... really confused my boyfriend, at first). The tamarind sauce didn't really shift the flavor in a big way, but tamarind is an ingredient I enjoy seeing on menus. This pizza ended up being my favorite of the two -- mostly because it wasn't as salty or greasy as the Ronny. Honestly, a lot of the pizzas feature interesting ingredients - like shrimp dust and pickled goat horn peppers - but, in the case of the pizzas we ordered, they didn't really add much to the overall flavor. The Ronny was just really salty and a little spicy. The Fun Guy's tamarind sauce was clearly riffing on balsamic, but that twist didn't shift the flavor profile much. So, like... what's the point? Service was fast and efficient, but a little cold. Both the hostess and our server were polite, but unengaged.. Ambiance-wise, and this might sound odd, the bathroom was the most enjoyable space. It smelled like tomato vines (confirmed via a room spray I spotted) and had a lit Malin + Goetz Cannabis candle, which was both questionable and totally vibe-y. Pink, orange, and red gave the space a soft, mood-lifting glow. Indie pop playing from invisible speakers made it feel surprisingly chill and cheerful. It was so hard to get a res for this place but I finally did! Got two pizzas a spicy rony and the anchovy pizza and the anchovy pizza was the highlight! I didn't think the spicy rony was anything special and would try something else. The anchovy pizza was so good! We first discovered Jules at a Loquat pop-up in 2023 and were instantly obsessed with their pizza... So when they opened a brick-and-mortar in our neighborhood, we were beyond excited. After dining there twice in the first month, I can confidently say: Jules delivers! The vibe is casual yet thoughtful, and the food is consistently outstanding. You really can't go wrong with any of their pizzas, but don't skip the sauce flight: it's a fun (and tasty) way to level up your crust-dipping game. Some of our favorite small plates include the Nori Guanciale Pull-Apart Buns (served with parm rind cultured butter and smoked trout roe... pure umami heaven) and the Baja Yellowtail Crudo, which is vibrant and balanced with blood orange leche de tigre and just the right amount of heat. The summer salad also makes a fresh and bright starter. As for pizzas, the Spicy Ronny is fantastic, but fair warning, it packs serious heat. We're so happy to have Jules in the neighborhood. Jules is an outstanding addition to San Francisco. I've had my fair share of "top" Bay Area pizzas like Junes and Emilia's in Oakland but what sets Jules apart is that they feel like a restaurant. This is a bit strange to say, but I feel like pizza shops like Junes and Emilia's are PHENOMENAL pizzas but they don't quite feel like restaurants - very much counter service and pizza focused but nothing wrong with that at all. Jules has such a cozy vibe from the "count your calories!" poster seated right across from "if it feels good, overdo it!" and indeed, there's never too much when I was at Jules. I always wanted more. I started off with the Charred Cabbage which is a sleeper hit. Light, refreshing, but coated in a rich sauce without leaving you heavy. The ends were charred whereas the theoretical "meat" of the cabbage was soft and chewy. Great textural contrast. For the pizzas we got Field Dream and Spicy 'Roni. The Spicy Roni wasn't at all spicy to me contrary to the reviews. I got it with anchovies and when you get a bite with the anchovies and grated Parmesean, you're brought to salt heaven. The Field Dream was a corn pizza with a pesto sauce. Great starchy contrast to the umami of the pepperoni and anchovy dish. What really made the experience for me was the sauce flight. Indeed, the ranch dressing and green sauce are empowering - they drown out the flavor of the already amazing pizzas but I loved it. I felt like Picasso slathering sauce with each and every bite of pizza. It is definitely optional since the pizzas are great by themselves, but it definitely enhanced and altered the experience. In my opinion, the ranch and green sauce cover up flavor - the hot honey enhances. I found myself using the ranch as a finisher to dress up the crust since it was that strong. I found the chili oil to be forgettable tbh but I got it because it was included in the flight. Don't forget to get a Cel-Ray soda. That stuff is rare to find in the wild and I loved my first experience with it. A great pairing for everything to come. I can't wait to come back and get their mushroom pie, and even their chicken if I'm with a larger group. All in all, Jules is a great place to visit. Jules himself is a phenomenal chef and it shows not only in the pizza - but everything from the apps to the house made sauces. I couldn't snag a reservation so I lined up at 4:00 PM on a Friday late afternoon. So excited I was able to snag a last minute Saturday night reservation (it's possible!). Ambiance was great and staff was all super friendly. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu. We did the crudo, meatballs, spicy Ronny and fun guy pizzas, all the side sauces, and finished up with the fruit sorbet. Pizza was amazing, enough said. Definitely get the miso ranch. My sneaky favorite item of the night was the sorbet. Strawberry rhubarb flavor and out of this world. Probably a top 10 dessert for me, she'll stay on my mind. Went to Jules to celebrate an anniversary with my better half and we could not talk highly enough of this place. The staple is pizza and I'll get to that but let me first rave about the starter plates. The beef & lamb meatballs are incredible. Deliciously sturdy and tender all at the same time. The fried torn bread adds great crunch, the sauce is to die for and the topping of çökelek cheese and green garlic oil balances out the savoriness with a creamy touch. After finishing the meatballs, it was impossible to not spoon up the rest of the sauce. The Yellowtail crudo was next and what a different flavor it was from the meatballs. The yellowtail was incredibly fresh and melts in your mouth. The blood orange ledge de tigre is full of tart like pop and sweetness and the Fresno chilis bring some nice heat to round out the dish beautifully. The nori guanciale buns were perfectly baked. The guanciale pieces, homemade butter and trout roe added immense umami flavor and savoriness. A perfect starter plate. Now for the the pizza! We got the Spicy Ronny. The tomato sauce was just as delicious as the marinara submerging the meatballs we had earlier. Small cup pepperonis galore with a combination of mozzarella and caciocavallo cheeses constitutes the base with a sprinkling of parm on top. The Calabrian chili brought the heat and since we went for the addition of the fermented garlic honey some beautifully complex sweetness came too. Perfectly baked sourdough crust is wonderfully complex and has that perfect chew. It's not floppy at all and has a beautiful toasty undercarriage. Bubbly crust on top will have you soaking any drippings of oil or honey that is left on your plate. (I could not help but notice that someone near our table decided to eat everything but the crust of the pie. DO NOT MAKE THIS MISTAKE...!) Finally we ended the night with the chocolate shell topped anise Sambuca ice cream. Slight licorice flavor comes through from the anise, the sambuca and the fennel pollen. The perfect way to end such a delicious assortment of dishes. Lastly, the service was very much attentive and friendly. Our server Hannah struck the perfect balance of making sure we felt seen, attending to any needs or suggestions we had but also left us to enjoy our anniversary dinner to ourselves. Plates came out fast and hot as well and we never once questioned where our food was. For a restaurant in its infancy I can't recommend it enough. I can see this as a staple neighborhood joint that we will frequent time and again. Compact space with lots of 20-30 somethings chowing down. Menu is compact. They nixed the chicken that was on there before. Lots of non meat pizzas. No gluten free pizza. We ate at Rose Pizza in Berkeley a couple days early and enjoyed their pizza far more. Safety Pluses - Online menu, Take out online ordering. Food Review: TJ Caesar Salad ($18) little gems, chicories, gwen avocado, pickled beans, cilantro, breadcrumbs, cotija, limey was ordered with a substitute Italian dressing. Nice greens but far too vinegary dressing. 5/10 Charred Arrowhead Cabbage ($15) mouthwatering calabrian chili butter, pumpkin seed gremolata, bottarga continued the heavy handed flavor with an overly spicy sauce. The cabbage itself was okay. 6/10 Miso Roasted Carrots ($16) Brown butter koginut labneh, hazlenut-carrot top salsa verde was the most liked dish of the night. Nice labneh on the bottom. 8/10 Spicy Ronny ($25) tomato sauce, mozzarella, caciocavallo, pepperoni, parm, ajika chili flake, calabrian chili had crust that was burnt, not charred. Finally made it to Jules after reserving a month in advance. While I'm still not sure what all the hype is about, it was a decent meal overall. We started with the charred arrowhead cabbage -- interesting idea, though the sauce was a bit heavy-handed and tended to overwhelm the cabbage itself. We tried three pizzas: the Fun Guy, Marone, and a white pizza (cheese only, no tomato sauce) for the kids. All were decent but a bit overcooked. I usually like some nice leoparding, but the bottoms were uniformly too brown, which dried out the crust. The Fun Guy had some interesting flavors, and the Marone had a nice balance of sauce and cheese, but overall the pizzas didn't quite live up to the hype. I had the best pizza I've ever had in my life at Jules. I first went to Jules when it was a pop-up at Buddy Bar and was so excited that they decided to open a full-time location. The crust is absolutely perfect. It's thin, but holds up and has a nice bite. The Spicy Roni is my favorite (how could you go wrong with hot honey on pepperoni?), but everything is worth trying. Reservations to newly-opened Jules are not easy to come by, but we were able to secure a weekday booking near closing time. We arrived to a raucous scene & a hostess inundated with people checking in. Fifteen minutes past our reservation time, our table still hadn't been released by a group who were dawdling over small talk & the check. We requested a two-top that seemed to be available, opting to be squeezed extra cozy rather than wait, as it seemed the group was nowhere close to vacating. We ordered: -- sauce flight ($12): consisted of hot fermented garlic honey (my favorite), tarragon miso ranch, "that green sauce" which indeed was herby, & sunflower sesame chili crunch. A must-get if, like me, you can't possibly take a bite of food without it being coated in a condiment of some sort. -- Spicy Ronny ($24): tomato sauce, mozzarella, caciocavello (a semi-hard cheese), parm, pepperoni, ajika chili flake, & calabrian chili. Five stars, easy. Had the perfect amount of spiciness & delicious cheese trio. Thicker-cut pepperoni that packed a bold flavor punch. Paired with hot honey, & I'm callin' it -- it's one of the best of its kind. -- Bridge & Fennel ($25): mozzarella, pecorino, fennel trifecta of pollen, cream, & pickled & that's in addition to fennel sausage. Delicious pizza in a brand new Italian spot. Open for just a couple of weeks and there was a line out the door on Saturday evening. We just wanted a quick pizza for takeout and we were out in about 12 minutes. I think this place was solid. Very friendly and attentive service. I went with a friend around 5:30-6 and we waited about 1hr 20min for a table so not the worst, had a drink at a nearby bar. We ordered the Marone, Ill Hester, and the meatballs. My favorite by far is the Marone. Tomato forward red sauce pizza with cheese. Our pizza had great blisters. I thought the dough was a little hard when it first came out, but after sitting it became steamed and it was amazing to me how it softened and the tomato became the star. I love tomato. The herby meatballs were great, again the tomato sauce was my favorite, and they even had pieces of bread sprinkled through t that added a nice crunch and softness from soaking the sauce in. The Ill heater was interesting, white sauce isn't my favorite. I did love the sesame on the crust, that was very good addition. I'm a big fan of thin slices of pizza with a nice crunch so I was really excited to score a last minute Resy with my friends to finally try Jules (they do save some seats for walk ins though if you want to try your luck and are having a hard time getting a reservation). The sourdough pizzas here really shine because of their crust. What made Jules really stand out for me are the sauces they offer to complement your pizza. We opted to try the entire sauce flight and the green one (which resembles Sliver's green sauce in Berkeley if you've been) and the tarragon miso ranch were the 2 we absolutely demolished and enjoyed the most. We tried the Fun Guy, Spicy Ronny and Bridge & FennelI pizzas and enjoyed all 3. Out of our group of 4 we all had different favorites so there's something for everyone. Jules is my new fave pizza spot in SF! It's a new restaurant in lower haight that everyone wants to try (for good reason) and is fully booked for a month out. We got incredibly lucky to snag a 5:45pm reservation on a Wednesday which I'm assuming opened up because someone cancelled, as no other times were available. The ambiance was lively and friendly, and you can see the chefs making the pizzas and putting them in the ovens from your table. We tried 3 flavors, and I'd rank them in order with my favorite being the Spicy Ronny, then Fun Guy, then the Marone. We got the hot honey drizzled on the spicy ronny and it honestly didn't stand out much, but we did get the green sauce on the side to also try with it and that tasted fantastic. I'd definitely come again to get the spicy ronny with green sauce! So delicious, has a little kick, and definitely a crowd pleaser. The fun guy had a unique flavor and it was interesting, and the marone had a solid sauce but I felt it needed more cheese in its cheese to sauce ratio. The pizzas are 6 slices each and I think one per person is already a filling serving, but for a first time I don't regret getting 3 to split between myself and my partner so we had some to take home for later. We ended with a sorbet for dessert, and while it was good it definitely was my least favorite thing I tried and I'd pass on getting it in the future. Summer salad 3/5: It taste like basic salad to me so I would pass on this next time Nori Guanciale Pull Apart Buns 4/5: The bread is good it reminds me of cheesecake factory brown bread but not as sweet. The roe adds a little bit of salt to the bread. Its good if you love bread but i would say you can pass on this to try other stuff. Fun Guy Pizza 4/5: I will say this is not the best mushroom pizza ive had but its not bad. My partner really enjoyed it but i felt like the mushroom pieces were really small and I was mostly eating cheese pizza Field Dream Pizza 5/5: I ansolutely loved this pizza. The pizza is more on the sweeter side. I loved the creaminess it had but also the touch of sourness from the tomatos was nice. Devilish Half Chicken 4/5: The chicken was very moist but in my opinion i thought it was just a little salty. The chicken skin tasted like how a pork rind taste like hut chicken intead. Come here with reservations or get here 30 minutes before opening on busy weekends. I came here on a Saturday around 4:40PM, ~20 minutes before opening with a part of three hoping to snag some walk-in seating. There was already a line and they were booked out with reservations and only had a few 2-seat tables and a communal table left for walk-ins. Those spots ended up being filled up so we ended up waiting an hour an half for the next seating. It seems like they struggle with seating parties of 3 since it's an odd number but we were seated around 6:30PM. I also did not really enjoy the communal style table because you could hear too much into others' conversations so unless you have your own table, it's not really an intimate conversation setting. I think that the service was a bit disorganized as my water refills were constantly empty and then the waitress just gave me the other tables' leftover water. Maybe it's because it's a relatively new restaurant and they still have to figure out stuff? I ordered the nori guanciale bread with brown butter anchovies, spicy ronny, 111 Hester, and the sauce flight and everything was just ok to me. Texturally, the nori buns were soft but I struggled to taste any of the nori and then the anchovies were too salty for my taste buds. I know anchovies are supposed to be salty but somehow they tasted like they were dipped in salt and I'm not sure the flavor combo really worked. Seemed like they were trying for something innovative but then I just wasn't sure the flavor combo was successful which brings me to the 111 Hester pizza. I also felt similarly about this pie where I'm glad they tried to do something innovative but maybe there was just too much going on? I felt confused about the pickled onions and then the szechuan pepper, with the cheese, but also the Chinese bacon (which wasn't very prominent even though normally, the flavor profile is strong). I wouldn't recommend this pie but the best bite of the night was the spicy ronny with their homemade ranch sauce. This was in fact, good, and every bite felt like an explosion of flavor. I would be hesitant to get the sauce flight time because depending on which pizza you get, only some flavors can go together in my opinion (for instance, the ranch and the spicy ronny go well but not the ranch and 111 Hester) but others might have different tastebuds. Tried to get a table around 8:30pm--totally fair that it was full on a Friday night. What felt off was that the party after us was told there might be a table opening at 9:30pm... something we were never offered. Guess we just weren't the right crowd for the night? Maybe not "cool" enough to dine in. Decided to just do takeout instead. The host said we were welcome to, so after taking time to decide, we went up to place our order--only to be told, flatly, "you need to order through the app." Would've been helpful to mention that from the start instead of letting us stand there giving you our whole order, just to be dismissed. The attitude honestly made it feel like we weren't worth the time. As native San Franciscans, it's sad walking away from a place in your own city feeling like you're not enough for it. Iza Ramen used to be here, and lowkey... I miss it. At least there, you felt like a valued customer--not like someone bothering the host just by showing up. read more

The three stars is because of the very rude host who just seems to have too much power and rude to customers. The pizza here is absolutely mouth watering and it makes me so nostalgic of all the great pizza I had at Roberta's. But the downfall of this establishment will definitely be the rude host. Time and time again he turns away customers, gives false estimates for the wait and simply gives away your table if you are not on premise even though the wait times are over 2.5 hours. My friend and I got the Marone (plain pie) and Field Dream (corn pie), and both were disappointing. The crust was thin and crispy, but way too burnt, which made the toppings hard to appreciate. The Marone was unpleasantly salty. The Field Dream was a clever concept but overall just tasted sweet, which wasn't really balanced out by the other toppings. A bit dry and overcooked, and the toppings, which sounded amazing on the page, did not distinguish themselves in reality. This is not Una Pizza Napoletana by any stretch. But I'm actually writing to point out that they actually charge extra for Parmesan cheese - it's one $1.50 per tiny bowl, which isn't much, but the very idea is appalling. I had an incredible time at Jules. The location itself is small and cozy. It's perfect for date night or grabbing dinner with some friends. We started with a bottle of non-alcoholic rosé. I don't usually drink NA drinks, but this one was delicious! We ordered the meatballs to start. I wasn't expecting anything mind blowing but the meatballs were actually so good and worth ordering. I kept going back in long after the meatballs were gone just for the sauce. For our main course we ordered the Spicy Ronny with anchovies and garlic hot honey, and it was incredible. I've never described a pizza as "juicy" before, but this one definitely was. The crust went perfectly with the meatball sauce! We also ordered the chicken dish. I don't usually care for chicken, or would ordered it at a restaurant, but this chicken was so tender and flavorful we ate the entire thing. Finally, for dessert, we had the fruit sorbet which was one of the highlights of our dinner. It was so light and fresh! Pro tip (as shared by our incredible waitress, Hayley), leave a little bit of the NA rosé to pair with the fruit sorbet, and it was literally some of the best bites of our entire meal. Food was delicious, service was 1000/10 (thanks again, Hayley!), and I will definitely be coming back to try more of the menu. May 12th, 11:59PM. I grab my phone and open Resy, ready to refresh it the moment the clock hits midnight. I've been waiting all day for this - reservations for Jules are being released, one week in advance. 12:00AM. Refresh, refresh. Nothings there. No way they're already all booked. Refresh, refresh again. Still, nothing. I go to bed, confused but not ready to quit. The next morning I comment on Jules instagram post asking when the reservations will go live - they say as soon as they pass inspection. I resign to my loss, certain I won't catch the update in time. Then a few hours later, my phone lights up and it's Jules commenting again on their post, replying to let me know the reservations are LIVE. I pause my meeting to jump onto Resy and rejoice, a 7:30 reservation for day one. Booked. Confirmed. And it was so, so worth it. The ambiance of Jules is fantastic. Great mood lighting, spacious interior while still feeling cozy and plenty of interesting decor. We were immediately seated and decided on the Nori Guanciale Pull Apart Buns, the Spicy Ronny, and the Devilish Half Chicken. First came the buns, and my god they were to die for. I love a good bread, and these were thick, airy, and fluffy all at once. Wonderful flavor, and paired with the parm rined butter and uni perfectly. Uni, on bread?! Never would the thought have crossed my mind. But it was delicious, and definitely high quality uni too. This is a must try, and a must get every visit to follow. It comes with two pieces, so keep that in mind if you visit with a larger group. Next came the pizza, the Spicy Ronny. It activated every tastebud upon first bite. It's a perfect fold in half, crunchy pizza while still retaining the right amount of fluff. The red peppers are actual red peppers, not the dried out kind we've all come to associate with pizza places. And the pepperoni, oh the pepperoni - juicy, packed with flavor, not at all overly greasy. And oh, it lived up to the "spicy" part of its name too, my girlfriend and I were surprised by how much the spice crept up on us but it was impossible not to keep eating it. The pizza is great on its own, but it's taken over the top by the green sauce. If you like the green sauce that's a classic at East Bay pizzerias like Sliver and Cheeseboard, you're gonna love it. And if you've never tried those and don't know what I'm talking about, just get it. You won't be disappointed. The hot honey was a great pairing, too, but I definitely would say the green sauce is more of the must have. After the pizza they brought out the chicken. Such a unique dish. It's listed as a big plate, and that was accurate. It's more than enough to share with a group. The plate is covered in a spicy peanut sauce, and as someone who hates peanut, I thought it was incredibly good. The chicken is tender, juicy, and the crispy skin is generously portioned. And the veggies! They were really, really good. I think this wouldn't be an every time dish for me, but it's worth a try for sure. And last, we had the sorbet. It's a strawberry rhubarb sorbet with kiwi and peaches, and you have to try it. The sorbet is a perfect balance of sweet and tart, and the fruit is incredibly fresh and juicy. It was the perfect way to end our meal, and I'll be thinking about it daily until the next time I can try it. If they sold this on its own by the scoop, or pint, I'd have it all the time. I had high expectations for Jules. I wouldn't shut up about it, in fact. And you know what, it blew every expectation away. Amazing service, amazing food, amazing vibes. This is my new favorite pizza spot in the city, and frankly, maybe anywhere. It's where I'll bring friends, family, acquaintances - anyone who I can make an excuse to have this again with. Competition for great pizza in SF seems to be heating up lately, and I really think Jules is a contender for the top spot. Try it as soon as you can. read more

Nice addition to Lower Haight in a former ramen spot. Been a huge fan since the beginning!! But one favor to ask... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE if you're going to finish all your pizza with parm, at least mention it on the menu. Don't assume everyone likes their pizza with parm because I don't.... Otherwise one of the best pizza spots in SF! Always recommend it to friends who visit read more

Jules is a total gem in the Lower Haight--this place nails it on every level. The food, the vibe, the service--it all just works. We kicked things off with the Charred Cabbage, which sounds simple but was packed with flavor--smoky, spicy, and topped with this crunchy gremolata that made it hard to stop eating. The Beef & Lamb Meatballs were tender, herby, and served with torn bread and a whipped cheese spread that we scraped clean. Then came the pizzas. The Spicy Ronny is a bold, pepperoni-lover's dream with Calabrian chili and crispy edges that hit just right. The 111 Hester was wild in the best way--garlic cream, smoky bacon, sweet onions, and this subtle tingle from Szechuan peppercorns. Super creative and perfectly balanced. Service was spot on--friendly, attentive, and genuinely excited about the food. The ambiance strikes this great balance between sleek and casual--cool lighting, warm wood, good music. It felt elevated but still totally relaxing. This is the kind of place you can roll into for a chill night out and still be wowed by the food. Can't wait to come back. read more

Jule's pizzas are thin-crust, which is my favorite. We ordered two different pies. Sadly, the flavors on both pizzas were not balanced, either overly acidic for my taste or just plain bland. I think they used sour dough as a base, but it was just too sour for me. I am sure other people find the flavor combinations delightful and hence for the 4-5 stars from other diners. Pairing the tartness of the dough with the slightly burnt bitter crust just made the pizzas unplalatable. read more

So happy the delicious chicken back on the menu! For those needing to skip gluten: the crudo, chicken, plus any of the sides are excellent options. Jules Pizzas are such flavor blasts with the seasonal broccoli, Satriale and Ronny devoured by our table of 5.
