Wow! I CANNOT say enough about Carrie Schecter and Rise Brooklyn or give it a stronger recommendation. It is the most outrageously fun truly life-changing work out I have ever experienced. After doing Bikram yoga for 15 years I had hit a plateau and was SUPER frustrated that no matter how much exercise I did or how careful I ate it would not make a difference - my clothes felt tight and I was miserable. On top of that, I have the scheduling challenge of having to be at work at 8:15am so I was looking for something early. I've now been going to Rise with Carrie and her team since late April and I've been blown away by every aspect of the experience. I am feeling stronger, more energized and see real changes in my body in just 2 months even though I had to take two different weeks off for a conference and because I got sick. The best part is that the class is a blast - it's a very intense workout with awesome music. It never gets boring because Carrie is always mixing up the routine and we are always laughing. The hour flies by. I feel like I am working with one of the city's top personal trainers (I've worked with several) because Carrie is always watching out for my technique. She has the amazing gift of knowing when to be a motivating drill sergeant and also a sweet, nurturing, encouraging friend when you feel discouraged. Plus there's a whole added benefit of being with an amazing group of other women who provide support and tons of laughs. Brooklyn Rise has truly been the highlight of my year - words cannot express my huge gratitude for Carrie and this class. It has given me hope and inspiration when I had given up on getting my body in shape. Rise is an amazing program whether you are a beginner to fitness or a professional athlete! It has changed my body and helped me with my day to day stress. The people attending the classes are just as great as the program. Rise is a non-judgmental, no ego, caring, safe, and fun environment. Carrie, the designer of the Rise program is a caring, high energy, motivating, and creative trainer. She is truly passionate about fitness and cares about each individual's goals and limitations. This is truly very hard to find in workout classes. You really are getting so much more than what you pay for! Most of all, Carrie is driven to yield results, so it's almost impossible for you to not see results and improvement with your physical body and health! Rise is comprised of kickboxing, muay thai, and conditioning. All three classes are back to back and taking one or all 3 is optional which is a HUGE bonus for me because finding a program that lasts for 3 hours is impossible. Again, you are getting so much more than you pay for! The classes are really fun, high energy, different every day, and motivating. Of course, you go at your own pace and everyone around you is always encouraging and supportive. This is the vibe of Rise! This boxing gym is my second home. Coming here has not only made me more physically fit, but it's helped reduce anxiety, boost confidence, and has taken my life for a complete 360. This place is my therapy. I am happier than ever before when in the presence of every staff member at jukebox. Their warm smiles, kind hearts, and inspiring journeys/stories encourage you to be better and do better. They make you feel that anything is possible and to never give up on yourself. Jukebox is the community I didn't know I needed. I initially tried Jukebox because of their early morning class times. If I am able to find strength in my morning routine, I can carry that feeling with me throughout the day to take on anything. I admittedly can achieve the bare minimum of this feeling at any boxing gym by pushing myself, even at places that throw you on a bag and ignore you. But what differentiates Jukebox for me is the frequent partner work. Carrie genuinely cares about the well-being of everyone who sets foot in her gym and has cultivated an encouraging team of fighters. By doing drills with different people every morning, I am constantly challenged to build upon my technique and improve my fitness far beyond what I could accomplish on my own. I also highly recommend checking out HIIT with Mary. You hear about how important strength training is as often as you hear stories about how easily you can hurt yourself doing it. Jukebox is a phenomenal place to train at. I was initially looking to learn self defense but quickly fell in love with boxing because of how great all the coaches are! They genuinely care about you and teach you everything the right way. I was pretty nervous in the beginning but quickly felt at home because the environment is comfortable and positive. I have a crazy schedule and had a hard time finding a place that works with it. However, I'm happy to have found Jukebox because they offer different classes and times; from HIIT to boxing/kickboxing. Jukebox is the place to be if you want to live up to your full potential; whether it's boxing or kickboxing. The coaches see it in you and want you to strive to the top! I joined the gym a few months after I was discharged, and from day one, Carrie, Mike, Victor, Alex, and the other coaches embraced me with genuine care and support. I am always looking for new and fun workouts, and found kickboxing to be an exciting new activity. After trying a few different studios around Manhattan and Brooklyn, I came across Jukebox in mid-March, and have been coming back ever since. Truly, Jukebox has become a second family and second home, especially in a time when I was (and am) still getting my bearings to living 3,000 miles away from my family, in a new city, with the stress of the job search and life in general. Carrie, Josh, Mary, Eric and the rest of the team make it so that this 45-minute workout kicks your butt, sure, but also gives you a chance to bond with the other Jukers and find comradery with some amazing people. Initially found this little gem on Classpass. Actually liked it so much that I've quit Classpass and joined with Rise for a monthly membership instead. Carrie is the best! So high energy and hilarious. I drag my ass out of bed at 6 a.m. on weekdays thinking I'll never get pumped enough to kick and punch a bag for an hour, and Carrie proves me wrong every time. I always walk out of class feeling great. I've been going for about two months now and the classes change up all the time, so you never feel bored or repetitive. Carrie might cycle through partner work, tabata, and different routines on the bag, and always close with ten min or so of murderous ab work (in a good way, I swear). Another bonus about the studio is how friendly everyone is. Like people genuinely seem to like each other (how confusing). It really feels like a family. Way more welcoming than your average barre studio. read more

Five months ago I walked into this studio without any idea of what to expect, and without knowing it was going to be a decision that has truly changed my life. I absolutely LOVE Carrie and her classes, always keeping us motivated and challenging us to be the best version of ourselves. My body has completely transformed, I'm stronger and healthier than I've ever been. In the winter I found myself getting my workout gear ready every night to make sure I had no excuses in the morning, now I can't wait to get out of bed and get my sweat on, and starting to train outside has only opened the door to more fun! I love this place!!! I get more of a workout in the 45 minutes/class than I do exercising in other ways for over an hr. No one class is the same as the other- every class is as unique as each instructor. Each instructor is hands-on & wants us to go for goals, especially the owner who is such a bad-ass woman fighting along with us! From all the classes offered like HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training), to boxing & kickboxing, your body will thank you and crave to come back for more. And you would want to come back for more because of the people. Jukebox is more than a gym; it is a place with a supportive family. The staff are so welcoming, the fellow Jukeboxers are willing to help newbies & have community services centered around boxing & donation classes dedicated to a cause. I love this gym. Carrie is a wonderful trainer, who changed my boxing practice top to bottom once she started to coach me. She's energetic, smart, motivating and she pays close attention to her students. It's clear that she cares a lot about her students, not only in their progress but in making sure that they are in a safe environment conducive to learning, and one that supports their boxing journey. You want to learn how to fight, then this is your gym. Carrie has been my coach since I was in Amerikick. She does not play. This is not a joke to her and she really cares for her students. When she was teaching only twice a week at Amerikick, I felt like I needed more than just a workout. I wanted someone like her to teach me her techniques. Luckily one day we were talking and she told me about her opening her first boxing gym in the neighborhood. I was so excited. I have been here since day 1 with her and I LOVE IT. Not only do we get a workout but she actually teaches you the RIGHT techniques. I have been doing personal training with her and its the best. I cannot begin to tell you how amazing this place is. It is way more than a work out class - it is a community! And that is how Carrie structures it! There are people of all varieties - everyone is welcome and everyone loves these classes! While the wtoning and body strength are awesome, it is definitely the bonus on top of everything else that rocks here. After every class you feel amazing, excited, sweaty after listening to amazing music, getting pumped up and learning about your body. I can confidently say I know how to jab, cross, hook, upper cut, slip, roll, front kick, roundhouse kick, etc etc - its hard but oh so good. Jukebox NYC is a home away from home for me. I have known Carrie for many years now and have gotten to know her a coach and human. Every fiber of her being goes into making your workout not only a kickass fitness experience but a real means of protecting yourself - we all hope we will never have to use these skills on the street - and that is an incredibly empowering atmosphere. I'd been kickboxing for about two years at another studio and was getting pretty bored, and that all changed after my first workout at Jukebox!! Carrie, owner & lead trainer, makes every workout different, challenging and so much fun!! I'm always surprised when the class is over, because it goes by so fast. All the trainers there are so encouraging, really positive, all while pushing you to be your best self. Carrie has really put together a very nice & inspiring community. You can tell she really cares about all of the members safety as well as their fitness. You will walk out of there drenched with sweat but also glowing from the inside. This is the most amazing place ever. Ms. Karrie is the best, she is uplifting, encouraging, friendly and positive. She is amazing and the staff as well. The Jukebox offers so many things, if you don't have immediate access to gloves, gear, water, and wraps, it can be provided for you all at a reasonable price . The people that participates daily are also friendly, helpful, and supportive. I literally have found my happy place. Im glad I have joined this family/team. It's an amazing and awesome experience every time. I travel an hour and about 10-20 minutes when participating in classes.
