This Whole Foods location is full-size, with a full bakery, hot bar, and grocery selection. Having this place nearby made it a great home base for water, a snack, and delicious treats in a pinch. We enjoyed some hot bar items (delicious), some bakery items (scrumptious), and of course, grabbed hotel essentials for our stay, like water bottles and snacks. I didn't have much interaction with staff here, so can't speak on the service. There are lots of self-checkouts available. I'd say we ended up in this Whole Foods about 3-4 times in our 5-day stay. It was clean, organized, dependable, and for a Whole Foods in Seattle, reasonably priced.

This is a nice co-op grocery in West Seattle near Alki (I don't know the area that well). There is outside parking and a parking garage. It was crowded, yet I get a parking spot quickly. Nice layout. I just walked along the route and found everything I needed without backtracking. In addition to food, they have a large store with organic type soaps and socks and whatnot. Also a large pharmaceutical selection (non-prescription). Staff was very friendly - noticeably so. PCC is a bit out of my budget for regular shopping yet I enjoy patronizing them on occasion due to their business practices and their interesting and appetizing selections.

While checking out, I used two paper bags and was confronted by an employee who essentially forced me to add the bag charges to my bill. While I understand there is a Washington state bag law, the employee's approach felt completely aggressive and unnecessary for a 24-cent issue. Metropolitan Market already charges premium prices, and being policed over paper bags at a self-checkout is an incredibly uninviting customer experience. The delivery to my doorstep is still super-fantastic. The new beautiful things? They now have fruit-only and veggie-only bins! And more importantly... YOU CAN NOW MAKE SUBSTITUTIONS ON THE SITE AND BUY EXTRA ITEMS IF YOU WANT TO! I believe you're limited to 5 substitutions per bin, but that's still awesome! Sometimes I haven't finished the apples yet or know I won't want a certain item the following week, and I love that I can edit my order right on the website (instead of having to email or call). I do like going to shops and markets and picking out my own things, but experience has shown me that I just don't make enough time for that to actually have produce available in my kitchen every day/week. This way I get to discover new items, only have to decide on any substitutions I might want, and it shows up on my doorstep every Tuesday so I always have some (healthy!) food available at home without needing to go shopping. I LOVE IT! *Case of amazing customer service: The owner Carolyn recently called me because she noticed that I had selected the fruit bin, but kept substituting vegetables in. You can actually walk around, look at everything, and enjoy the market without feeling rushed. There are so many popular food spots to try, but I also recommend checking out the smaller vendors because there are so many hidden gems. I love that there's a little bit of everything here, from food and drinks to fresh flowers, produce, seafood, and souvenirs. The only downside is how crowded it can get, especially on the weekends. Other than that, Pike Place Market is such a fun experience and one of those places you have to visit at least once if you're new to Seattle!
