While the music added to the atmosphere, it was so loud that we couldn't comfortably hear the people at our table or have a conversation. Because I've not found real Louisiana boudin anywhere else in the DC area, and because of the family's hospitality, I will give them 4 stars. The Jambalaya Shack is a catering business that was present at this past weekend's Breaux Vineyards Cajun Festival. They're from southern Louisiana, and seem to get invited to cater many of their events. They had jambalaya, corn maque choux, and boudin links. Because I was waiting on live boiled crawfish from another vendor, I decided to just share a link of boudin for $5. Their young boy said after I ordered, "Sure! You have to ring the boudin bell!" So I did, while his mother laughed and wrapped up a link for me. She made sure I knew how to eat it (I did), and I asked her if it was spicy or not (she said not at all...probably due to the DC clientele...but that they were good and that they shipped them straight from Louisiana). They also had an assortment of mild Cajun seasonings and hot sauces. It was not the best boudin I've ever had (that one goes to the Boudin King in Louisiana), but it was slightly better than the boudin I can get at the grocery store in Texas (but bigger). The Jambalaya Shack's also had good amounts of little liver pieces in it. I wish I had had hotter seasonings (cayenne chile powder would have been awesome) to spice it up with... I wish I had also tried their namesake jambalaya, but it was the chicken/sausage variety and other than the boudin, I was in the mood for seafood. I do think I was the only person I saw at the festival that tried the boudin (or probably knew what it was). Speaking of seafood, the other caterer's boiled crawfish was bland, and Jambalaya Shack was nice enough to let us have some of their seasonings. They saved the day.

My visit to Juicy Seafood started great. Friendly environment, helpful staff. I ordered the Rock the Boat 4 people combo with Cajun seasoning. The meal looked so good we had to take pictures of it. We were about to start eating when someone asked if that were sliced lemons in it? It was. I am allergic to Lemons. I informed the waitress and manager of my allergies. The tray was removed and they returned with what I presumed was a fresh tray. We began to eat the meal. The meal no longer had lemons on it but now it had garlic instead. The meal was filling. On my drive home I started to develop a strong headache dry tongue and unset stomach. What had happened was the meal was taken in the kitchen and they removed the lemon slices instead of preparing a new meal. Thanks for my EPI pen I was ok. I would have given them a 5-star rating, but with blatant disregard to the health of their customers and my allergies, this dinner could have ended in a Hospital visit. I won't be returning to this restaurant and I'd advise anyone with food allergies to do the same. read more

I ate here last night with my family and it did not disappoint. This seafood joint offers gloves, bibs, and sanitary wipes. The crab and crawfish are tender and sweet. The serving sizes are gigantic and honestly their Rock the Boat special that is meant to serve four could easily serve six. The boils come in a big tray with a heating system to keep the food warm. Their special Juicy sauce is really good and the mild sauce isn't spicy at all for those who may be bad with spice. The staff is kind, friendly, attentive and sanitary. Expect to get messy, but the food is worth it! read more

I noticed this new spot and figured why not undo my gym workout and get something fun to eat. Sardis has a very intensive menu of various items that include charbroiled chicken, Latin specialties, fish, salads and sandwiches. In my opinion, Sardis offers a little of something for everyone. For my dining pleasure, I went with the chicken tender platter, which was about 12 bucks. This is came with three large chicken tenders with two sides. From what I remember, there were at least 10 different sides that one could choose. I went with a side of cole slaw and fried rice. Overall, I thought the food was pretty good, and the platter was served with very generous helpings. My only (minor) issue with the food was that chicken tenders were a bit too salty for my taste. Other than everything was A-OK. The service team was very professional and nice. Also, the restaurant was very clean and has that shinny, new look. I even noticed team members cleaning areas a few times during my meal. Since the shopping center where Sardis is located isn't super busy, I do not think there should be a problem with finding parking. Looking forward to keeping this menu on my list.
