Review Visit: October 14th, 2015 Decided to stop in before my hike at Jubilee College State Park. Slightly disappointed in both. Having read great online reviews, driven past the highway signage multiple times, I thought I could knock out this cafe and the state park in the same day. Upon entering, the wait staff seemed like they didn't really care to offer us good service. Then once we ordered, the food was alright. Nothing really stellar or mouthwatering. I honestly can't remember what I ordered. Reflecting back, it kind makes me wonder if they are one of those small diners that has their regulars and anyone that is new or different, they get shunned. This probably isn't true and I just went on a bad day. With fairly great reviews, I would be willing to bet that I just happened to show up on a bad day. So with anything, take my words with some caution and try things for yourself!

Kickapoo Special I think was what this was. Biscuits and gravy is what's on the right.

Nice diner from service, to the feel, to the food...this one is all diner. Easy to get to right off the interstate so that was a win. They were pretty busy when we got there for a late lunch, no problems or issues with service. Everyone was nice I had breakfast and the sausage and hash browns were super good. My wife got the breaded tenderloin sandwich. She said it was really good, she also added fries and cheese sauce. I tried those and I liked them too. We did try a piece of key lime pie and it was really good. There were a few people buying full pies, so I would imagine all the other 20+ kinds they had to choose from were all pretty good. Worth a stop, we will be back as well.

Homestyle cooking here at its finest. Quaint little diner that is like a step back in time. Food hit the spot and was delicious. I got a bowl with mashed potatoes, fried chicken, cheese, and gravy and it was yummy. The strawberry pie too, was so fresh. Prices were very fair. The one complaint is the butterscotch pie was not our favorite. I overall recommend!!!

Pork Tenderloin Sandwich & chips

So stop in on are way home from Galesburg, train station for lunch, my wife and I. My wife had the Pork Tenderloin Sandwich w/ Chips, this is her normal to try, she said it was fair could use some seasoning. I had Tuna Melt w/Chips. I enjoyed the sandwich, not sure if the chips are purchased or homemade they were good. Service was great, our waitress kept an eye on us and was polite. This is a small town Cafe, it is relaxing and very affordable. We arrived at 12:15PM and was served in about 20 minutes and table cleared by 12:58PM. The parking lot was full, that alone tells you they have good food. They have a very large menu of items and the dessert look great. Would stop here again $24.50 with 1 Sweet Tea

What a great diner! We stopped in on a recent road trip to grab some lunch. Everyone is very friendly and sweet. It's right off the interstate so I'm sure they get lots of tourists, but there seemed to be a lot of regulars which is nice to see. Hubby ordered the pork tenderloin sandwich and I had the chicken fried steak. Both were breaded perfectly. The gravy on the chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes was thick and creamy. The mashed potatoes weren't super flavorful, by themselves, but I was happy to see they were homemade and not flakes. And they were covered in gravy, so they didn't need to be super fancy anyway. Hubby's sandwich was delish! The bun was soft, the veggies were fresh. The tenderloin was pretty big, so he tore some off to dip in the gravy. LOL! I ordered baked apples as one of my sides, and they were good. They were firm and had lots of cinnamon. We also had to try the peach pie. I'm not a fan of peach pie in general, but this was good. The crust was very flaky and they give you a pretty good slice. I loved this place so much, I bought a t-shirt to remember our lunch here!

Well looky here we got beer about the last 3 months something new

#43/2022 Wow December of 2020 was that the last time I've been to the old jubilee?? Yep sure looks like it. So belly started rumbling outside the Galesburg saying feed me and I thought you know what let's see what time Jubilee open till? just before you get into Peoria to the west 15 mi there it sits in the little tiny farm Town of Kickapoo Illinois. Said 8:00 I rolled in at 6:10 sounds good let's eat. Nice thing is I still got the truck gravel parking lot where you can park big trucks and it look pretty much the same for the most part. Walking in the first thing I noticed there is a difference they got beer not wine just beer three different kinds of beer if you want to enjoy my favorite Michelob ultra busch lite and Bud light I believe they give you an ice cold frosted glass too. like most of the Illinois they have video poker now too. So I sat down and looked at the menu it looked pretty much the same for the most part a couple additions here and there but not much. I opted on getting the roast pork dinner minus the dressing cuz I'm not addressing fan never did stove top any of that stuff just nothing for me. So I got the roast pork and the two sides smashed potatoes and gravy and the for the meal my favorite cottage cheese. For drink I went with the unsweetened iced tea. She brought out the tea and the cottage cheese I added the black pepper like I always do and a few packs of club crackers and enjoyed dinner came out looked really good. I decided to go with the brown gravy like they do on the hot beef as opposed to the chicken gravy the roast pork was very fork tender and tasty potatoes were really good. I said I'm going to have some dessert they got a monster pie selection all made in house. I saw had sugar free pies tooso I said what are you guys got for sugar free and so we got sugar free peach today. I said cool sounds good I'll take a slice. She brought it out and it tasted really good even without the sugar it had a little bit of a plane or taste and the crust but still nonetheless it was good for me. I still have plenty of tea left so I didn't want any cawfee I'll get that down the road somewhere. So in conclusion it's been too long I'm definitely going to hit this up more often some good sit down home cooking stick to your rib food. Then I took my pills I paid the bill and headed back out to that old 18-wheeler and back to chasing those dotted white lines:-)

Green tomato pie, delicious!

Ryan was my waitress, and she was hands down one of the best servers I've ever had. Her customer service was truly top tier. She came by right away, introduced herself, and brought me both coffee and water. Instead of spending time looking over the menu, I told her exactly what I was in the mood for, and she went above and beyond by creating the perfect combo for me. I ordered eggs, sausage, hash browns, and blueberry pancakes. Ryan told me all about their homemade blueberry syrup, that it was made fresh from scratch daily and wow, she wasn't kidding, it was great! The food was fresh, delicious, and full of flavor. There were fresh blueberries not only in the pancakes but also in the syrup, which made the meal even better. The restaurant itself was also really nice, very open and spacious, with plenty of seating. Even if all the tables were filled, there was still more than enough room to walk around comfortably. I also loved the festive touch of the Christmas tree right inside the restaurant; it made the space feel warm and welcoming. While it was a little on the pricey side for one person, the quality of the food and the overall experience was great. What impressed me the most, though, was how kind, genuine, and attentive Ryan was throughout my visit. She truly made the experience memorable and as far as I'm concerned she's the best waitress you have! I was happy to let her know that she was going above and beyond, y'all better hold on to her! There's even an option to pay at the table if you're in a hurry which is a cool feature! I will definitely be back!

Ordered the chilaquiles and biggest flavor profile was salt. Wouldn't have been so bad if my water glass had been filled. Instead I drank mine, my husbands, waited for my ice to melt, then waited for his ice to melt. Which brings us to the ignore. Once we ordered and were given food we were ignored completely. Staff wouldn't make eye contact with us. People who had come in after us had their plates removed and checks given before us. We literally had to wave our arms in the air an hour and a half after being served before our next contact. The server then asked us if we wanted one to go box for 3 different half plates of food..... what???? The only reason I can take away for this service is there was 4 of us. 2 couples and my friends are elderly and he has a walker and needs accommodation to where he can sit. The place was not overly crowded and that wasn't a problem. When we brought out our calendars to make next months get together we definitely all agreed upon not here!

We've seen people making videos & showing the drinks that they ordered. Everything looks amazing so it was hard to decide on just one, same thing with the foods! I ordered the caramel apple waffle and my sister got the honeycomb bread. We both enjoyed what we got but I have to tell you, don't sleep on the waffle! That was absolutely fantastic, I never really tasted anything like it before and I enjoyed it immensely. It was hard for me to save half of it to take home to share with my family. My sister really enjoyed hers as well and took hers home to share. We both enjoyed our coffees she had the Nutella hot coffee and I had the Yemeni cookie coffee. I'm used to more sweeter coffee but I wasn't mad about it. I should have tried the famous strawberry Dubai coffee one but I didn't, I'm definitely going to have to try that next time. While we were sitting there, we heard about six people order that and it sounded like they knew what they were doing lol! They also have a little glass case with some desserts inside of it, looks like there's some sort of chocolate covered fruits and some Dubai cheesecakes and whatnot, it all looks so good and I'm looking forward to trying some of those things! The decorations & the seating options were nice, loved the contemporary look of the chairs. Although, I think they could use a few more seats. They seem to be quite popular, there were quite a few people coming in and out. There were two ladies working and one gentleman. I'm not sure if he was the owner or not I didn't get a chance to speak to him because they were so busy. But I did get a chance to ask one of the ladies how long they been open and she said it was just a few months. She was very kind and was apologizing to everybody for their wait. The parking lot was kind of small and pushed off to the side of a building off of a busy road. You could probably fit maybe 10 cars there I guess, and also every parking place was filled when we left. It would definitely be exciting to see them move to a bigger location with a bigger parking lot, I feel like they would be getting even more people coming in! Overall I had a great first visit here and I'm looking forward to going back and trying something else new in the future. If you haven't made it there yet, get over there so you can try it!
