Parking lot was packed but we sat at a booth as soon as we entered.. this place is big! Great breakfast. I had the BreaScramble with the added gravy. Yum! Very disappointed and sad that I have to write this review. I grew up eating at the Dixie Manner, the parent of the Jubilee. My great aunt who owned the Dixie when she died our family friends, Weavers purchased the grounds and later started the Jubilee. Years later as we traveled from Florida thinking of the old time Corn Fritters we gathered as a family to have a meal at the Jubilee. The Fritters were terrible and when we mentioned it it was excused as the batters fault with no apology. Moments later a bug ran across our table and again when we mentioned it the waitress took the bug and brought it to the trash with out an apology. We paid the $74 dollars leaving heart broken for a quality and service that once was but seems to have gone away like so many other good things. read more

The prices are very high for what you get. My sister had grilled cheese, fries, coke and pumpkin pie. The cost was 17.95. I had the special breaded pork chop....mostly breading, came with tiny scoop of mashed potatoes, green beans. This was 10.95. Add coke 2.85, the pie 4.95. With tip over $20.00!!! We stopped in today for a late lunch, and left very disappointed. It's been years since we were there last. The place seems clean, but the service is lacking and the food is just horrid. We watched as 4 tables (that were sat after we got there) received their food and finished eating, while our prepared food was "forgotten" in the window for at least 20 minutes. 20 minutes under a heat lamp doesn't do wonders to gravy! My husbands food was cold and had to be remade. The pork is like pulled pork and very wet. 100% would NOT recommend. There was only one girl working the dining room, so I'm not sure who the blame actually falls on for bad food/service. She seemed hurried and scattered trying to keep up. Brought me back to the days of old. Great Fried Chicken, Cheesy Mashed Potatoes, Tuna Sandwich, Baked Apples and of course Homemade Pie. Stopping here with my daughter on the way home from Champaign or a Peoria has become a tradition. A slice if chocolate pie is a great way to get us on our way home. Today she had the kids spaghetti, which was a perfect serving, and tastier than most family restaurant spaghetti. Not much water in the plate, so they actually drain the pasta (unlike most places of this ilk). The real prize though, of this cafe is the pork tenderloin. Nice size. Fresh taste. Thick, crispy, beautiful. I think they use panko bread crumbs, which really arts this sandwich above the rest. I've had a LOT of pork tenderloin sandwiches. This among the best. read more

When I was in high school, I worked there as a dishwasher! They do indeed have a pie-maker on staff. Don't expect fancy-shmancy food, but it *is* good and definitely worth a stop. In my opinion the must-haves are fried chicken and pie. read more

We just happened on this restaurant as we were traveling on I-74. But what a blessing. I had the 5 grilled cheese with bacon and tomato. It was fabulous! And the pie is to die for. The service was great. Very friendly hostess and the waitress was very attentive. Great place to eat! read more

Clean place, mostly empty at the time we went. Only one waitress, from what I could tell, was working. Had the Blue burger ($5.45), for an additional $3.30 I could get fries and coleslaw with it. The coleslaw came out first, it was ok. My burger came out, and it was just the meat, the blue cheese mayo, and bun....nothing else! No lettuce, tomato, onions, or anything else you would expect to find on a burger. The waitress didn't tell me that the burger just came plain or asked if I wanted anything on my burger. Atmosphere was fine, family type. Food was average for price. Very clean. Good service except for the waitress we had. She spoke so softly no one could hear her. Need to interact with customers more. While on the Interstate, it was time to eat and I randomly stopped at Jubilee Cafe, just off the freeway. Great choice! Even though they were really busy mid-afternoon, and it took a few minutes to get a menu, the young woman who was my server was just excellent! She quickly figured out that I like iced tea, as much as I can get, and she kept my glass filled while taking my order and treating me really well, in spite of the cafe being really busy. The food was good too! I'll remember this place, mostly because of her excellent service, and will stop there if I'm ever in the area again. Highly recommended! read more

Went here for a wedding rehearsal dinner, and boy was I pleasantly stuffed afterward! This is definitely not a fancy place, but it is clean and offers some great home cookin'! Our meal was "family style," which meant that we were served lots of sides and fixings in bowls which we could serve onto our individual plates. We had salad, rolls, green beans, a broccoli salad, mashed potatoes, fried chicken, etc. At the end, you could choose from like a million types of pie! The waitress, who was very friendly, said they have a professional pie maker on staff, and when I say that they have every type of pie you could possibly think of, I mean it. Great place to stop! Wonderful diner food and nice staff. Stopped here on the way to Galena IL. It was so good we stopped on the way back. Their fried chicken is the best I've had in quite some time. I highly recommend it. They have a wide selection of pies that are made in-house. I had the pecan pie, which was pretty good. Probably the worst meal my wife and I have been served in the Peoria area. Toco salad looked like it was covered with chili soup and tasted nasty, wasn't able to eat it. Chicken had an "off" taste. Only ate the cottage and salad both were ordinary. Waitress finally came by after we had already decided to leave. The whole experience is hard to think about even to write this. Be warned! We enjoy stopping here when traveling. Just a couple hundred yards from the exit on Rt 74. Better than settling for fast food. There's usually a special, like pot roast, Swiss steak, walleye, or fried chicken. Sides are good, too. Service is fast and friendly. Save room for the pies. In fact, you should start with your pie selection in mind ahead of time. We highly recommend the pecan pie, heated, with a large scoop of vanilla ice cream. If you are trying to cut back, go with the custard pie. But watch yourself. Big meals can make you drowsy. read more

Came here tonight with my grandparents for dinner. I had the bacon burger with fries and a piece of chocolate pie. Let me start my saying the beef they use is excellent! The fries were also very good and had a nice flavor. But that chocolate pie is the stuff dreams are made of! Plus it was on special for a dollar!! Our server Becky was super sweet and on her game! She asked my grandma if she wanted her pie warmed up and she initally said no then changed her mind which didnt seem to bother her at all. Overall great customer service and yummy food!! read more

On our way home to Chicago and decided to try this place out... the fried chicken, mashed potatoes and baked apples were the best I've ever eaten!!!! Was pleasantly surprised by this place. Doesn't look like much but the food was very good. Basic, old fashioned menu. Lots of hot sandwiches, things I would consider kind of old fashioned. They also had a "chilligetti" (i might be spelling that wrong - it's a combination of chili + spaghetti) and it was actually quite good. Their pies are great. Service was quick and easy and it made a great stop from driving along the interstate. I'm not sure I'd want that to be my only restaurant choice as it was pretty basic food but it was done well and a step above fast food. read more

That one small town cafe that you always read about in books and see in movies. The waitresses are kind, the food is real Midwest cooking, and the homemade pies are incredible. A great place to head to after church and have a cup of coffee, you'll meet locals in their Sunday best, farmers fresh from the field, and travelers stopping off from the Interstate. I worked there in High School as a waitress and I miss it! I live in Kansas City now, and still try to visit whenever I come back to town, the Kickapoo Special at breakfast is still my favorite :) A country gem! read more

Perfect family restaurant. $3 kids meals which comes with fries or chips AND applesauce or jello AND drink. My husband and I shared a tenderloin because it was so big. The tenderloin had a nice breading that seemed to be hand-tossed in-house. The kids' corn dog was big and plump and the corn breading also delish. The French fries were tasty and appeared to be handcut with some having the skin. Of course, based on prior reviews, we had to try the pie and it did not disappoint. We had red raspberry (ask for it warm=yum!), lemon and coconut cream. All winners depending on who you asked in our group but coconut cream was simply outstanding. 5 of us ate (3 kids) with 3 pies and paid under 30$. Nice find along the interstate! No credit or debit though - but if that's why they have such great prices, no complaint here. Finally, a little outdated and worn but again, no complaints here when there's great food. read more

We seen the sign but to late to turn off. Read reviews and sounds to good not to stop on the way home. So we have bookmark this place and will definitely stop for breakfast and hopefully we can get fried chicken to go eat on the way back to Florida. Food was great but only gave it 3 stars because the service was lacking and the portions were very skimpy. No one asked if our water or coffee needed a refill, no butter for the home made roll without asking, had to ask for everything that just should have been considered service. Again the food was great but 3 stars because of the portions. We got the home made chicken and noodles and there couldn't have been more than a serving spoon worth on our plates, it was gone in a few bites and had just a couple of slivers of chicken in it, at that rate a single chicken could feed allot of people. Now dont get me wrong I do not believe in waste where some restaurants give you more that you could possibly eat but I really thought the serving size was ridiculous.
