This place has gone downhill so badly! I'm here right now and they are out of most of the liquor we tried to order which is really insulting because they own liquor stores. This place was amazing. Clean, neat, service with a smile and the best pub burger I've ever had. They even got the over medium egg correct! Those fries were to die for and I'm paying for it twice, once for overstuffing myself and the other running it off on the hotel elliptical while at elevation. Had a chance today to go again and although I have heard a *lot* of mixed feedback from local users I wanted to talk about today's experience. It was after 1 pm and we walked straight in after some confusion at the hostess' station we were seated. There was hardly a line up. In fact there was only one other table that was occupied in our section. The wait for a drink order was incredibly long. We finally placed our food orders and waited for our orders to arrive. Our group was very happy sharing the Wild Hog Wings appetizers. One patron in our party ordered the chicken quesadilla and was very pleased. I had the bang bang rock shrimp because I'd heard they were very popular. I was mildly disappointed. The portion was very generous and the flavor was good but they were mushy on the exterior and did not have an especially delightful mouth feel because of this. One of our diners ordered a flatbread pizza and a salad. She was asked twice about her preferred salad dressing on a return visit from the waitress. Once our food arrived she inquired about her flatbread pizza's whereabouts and was told it was "dropped" and would be out asap. I don't know if that means the order was dropped from the line, or was physically dropped on the floor. When it finally arrived our friend announced it was still cold in the middle. To the wait staff's credit her flatbread pizza was comped which was nice but if it was edible that would have been appreciated even more. My husband ordered Yokozuna, advertised as a char-broiled turkey and pineapple sandwich but received a sandwich with a beef patty (!) and he had to ask twice for ketchup, and then finally went to hunt some up, which they brought in two giant open tubs. *sigh* Okay YES I am a food snob. I expect *better* than what I can make at home. If' I"m going to pay for an "upscale" dining experience, I expect it to be a great and wonderful without so many kitchen and staff mistakes. I love food and I want my occasional dining out to be *special*. J's does just not deliver on this front. I have given several Casper eateries 5-star recommendations so I am not disingenuous...more like disappointed in this establishment. Tons of potential but wasted on small failings of kitchen and staff which combine to rate an overall discounted score, J's Pub strives to achieve the high mark but consistently has issues arising to deter them from reaching their goals. Go, but leave your expectations for a superb dining experience at home. Downgrade to 3 of 5 stars. read more

During my exploration of Wyoming, I was directed to J's. The hog wings.....best thing this southern gal has tasted! We sampled a bit of everything on the menu and it exceeds standards. I cannot wait to visit again. I was afraid that I would be viewed as "homeless" because I had been camping all week but we were greeted as if we were regulars. The place is relatively new and done well so everything is clean and appealing, good ambiance. Definitely a great option for drinks and appetizers or dinner. Really good food. They were out of my first choice- the Bison shortribs, but opting for the bison meatloaf I was not disappointed. Reasonably priced, we got a lot of food for our money. Definitely will recommend. read more

NYE at home in Casper with the parents, so we got craaazy and hit J's for early bird dinner at 5:15 (which was smart because this place fills quickly). The ambience was festive as tables began to fill, and we were impressed right away by the friendliness and efficiency of our server. We ordered a few cocktails (I went old-school and ordered a Cosmo, which wasn't too sweet). The appetizer was tasty - the server brought us additional bread for our spinach-artichoke dip, and as it was thin and crispy, it was a great compliment to the dip. We enjoyed our entrees - my mom and our friend got the Asian chicken salad, presented creatively in a take-out container to be poured onto the plate. The only awkward part of the experience was the giant size of the plates - a little juggling was required. Best part: free champagne for NYE! It was about as crazy as we got that evening. Overall, we'll be back in town next time I visit - it's a nice, newer option for the West side. read more

Despite my husband and one friend who thought the food was a 4, my girl friend and I did not enjoy our entrees. Service is friendly, no problems there. We had some pig wings for appetizers, which were fairly tasty, but a bit dry. I ordered an Asian Chicken Salad, and it was perhaps the worst salad and tackiest presentation ever. It came out in a Chinese takeout container - so right there, you've generated needless waste. I poured it out onto my plate, and the unappetizing greens spilled out, with a clumpy, sickly sweet sauce. It was not a dressing, it was like really cheap sweet and sour sauce. The chicken was fried into dryness and had little flavor otherwise. There were a few fried wonton strips, and that was it. No other veg, no citrus, no almonds, nothing like any other Asian Chicken salad that I've enjoyed. My friend had fish, and it was flavorless and overcooked. We had dessert, a chocolate flourless cake with ice cream. It was decent, but I wouldn't order it again. Overall, a very disappointing meal. read more

If I had written this back when Robert Hesse was the chef, I would have rated it one star... Everything I had at that time was either too salty, or too sweet (Really? Chunky ketchup as marinara?) But, I [was forced to] eat here last night, and while I was not quite impressed, I could see that the food has at least improved. The bartender recommended their chile rubbed ribeye. My meal was well seasoned, but the meat itself lacked quality (not sure what I expected for $24, but the way she made it sound, I guess I expected more). Last night's experience, definitely was not the disappointment I was expecting. I do hope they continue to improve and become a place I enjoy going to, instead of one that I kinda ignore, because I keep hoping for more. read more

J's was a lovely experience. I had the Brie, Apple and ham panini with a glass of cab sauv and it was perfect. Our waitress - who was friendly and informative - recommended the chicken fried steak for my husband. We were relaxing after a 500 mile drive and just enjoying ourselves. Then the waitress came to apologize for our wait - since we weren't in a hurry we really hadn't noticed. There was a kitchen mishap with his meal and they wouldn't serve it in a sub par condition. They more than compensated us for that because we really hadn't even noticed the length of the wait. The meals arrived before much longer and were really perfect. If we're ever in Casper again we'll definitely come here. read more

This is my second visit to J's. The first time was their first weekend opened. That time they did excellent except for some service issues. They send out a raw burger that was supposed to be well done, then they send the wrong type of burger so she had to wait and take it to go. Everyone elses was excellent. This time they did absolutely fabulous! The food was right not the money, timing was perfect. Drinks were correct and timely. Good job guys! Two of us had the brick chicken which was very good and one had the filet. Perfectly cooked and tasted superb. The service couldn't have been better. When mine came and it was dark, I thought yikes it won't be what I like. Our waitress said she could exchange it-not necessary it was great. So, I have given this establishment a good try, but unfortunately it has disappointed to many times. I've had the sirloin steak, which came out very bland and the baked potato was cold. I would have told my server but he never came back to our table, unfortunately. I also had the chicken fried steak, which wasn't terrible but also had a heat problem. The best thing here is the hog wings, and that saved this restaurant from one star. They are amazing...the only thing I would recommend here. If you are looking for something good to eat, drive the extra 10 minutes to The East side of town and have a better flavored dinner over there. read more

Been in twice for dinner. Had wonderful food both times with little to no wait. Good to great service both times and good results from the bar (although our drink orders were simple). Menu is both creative and familiar. The atmosphere is comfortable. Good place for adult conversation over a good meal. Had "hog" wings and thought for a little bit of pork it was way to expensive. My husband had the Philly and having moved here from the NJ?Philly area 10 years ago if you do not know how a philly should be Juicy and flavorful with no pickled peppers just do not do it. We go to J's quite often as we live close by. Their appetizers, especially the hog wings, the Brie Cheese, Chicken quesadilla, and guacamole are delicious. A couple appetizers are plenty for dinner. Love the Lorla salad, Bourbon Street Pasta, and their tomato soup. I believe overall the pricing is a little high, but food and service is good. My two complaints would be LUKE WARM beer. Turn down the cooler and chill the glasses, please!! secondly, most restaurants in Casper have happy hour on the weekends, but J's has mimosa's on Sunday. I don't believe most people are around here are huge mimosa fans. Keep your regular Happy Hour all seven days of the week, please. I think this would be beneficial on Saturdays and Sundays while sports are on. Would sell a whole lot more beer. read more

My first time in Casper, and at the recommendation of my husband, we went to J's. When we pulled in, the parking lot was packed, but they still had room and we didn't have to wait at all. We sat outside on the patio and enjoyed wonderful service from our waitress. My water glass was always full and everyone asked if we needed anything. We got buffalo wings and shared. A little on the spicy side but good (I am a wimp). I got a caesar salad and it was huge! It was very good. My husband got the cubano sandwich, which he enjoyed. This was my first time eating here. I was initially impressed by the atmosphere of the restaurant, which is very modern and stylish. The wood of the bar and booths looked really nice with the dimmer lighting. We didn't have to wait more than 5 minutes to get a table, which was nice after hearing about the long waits others had experienced. Our drinks came relatively quickly and we ordered the crab cake for an appetizer, as well as the you quack me up pizza (duck confit and figs) and the buffalo chicken sandwich, I don't remember the real name. We waited maybe 10 minutes for our crab cake, which at first was GREAT, but then was cold in the middle. Our waitress didn't deliver our meals, so we told the manger about it and sent it back. We had to specifically ask our waitress what happened with it because the manager never came and told us about coming the appetizer. Bad service from the manager of all people. Our waitress was decent, but we didn't see her as much as we would have liked. My pizza was very good, so was the chicken sandwich and we didn't have any service problems after that. For dessert we had both the red velvet whoopie pie and the chocolate cover twinkies. AWESOME RED VELVET. It was huge and only like five bucks. The twinkies had a really thick chocolate coating, but were still good. Overall, I think this place has the potential to be fantastic, but it's stuck in new restaurant syndrome, which really downed my rating. read more

The restaurant has gone down hill since everything is now (new). The waiters do things as* backwards, their prices have been jacked up even more and your portions are now getting smaller and smaller. I usually go in for their meatloaf, which was a decent portion, now they cut it literally in half and serve you your portion and the other half goes to whomever buys it. Then there's their chicken fried steak. when you receive your order, you think that the size of it is well worth your money. Well, looks are deceiving. When we got to the restaurant our waiter took forever to even ask what we want to drink and then the person who sat us put us at the biggest table in the restaurant. There was A bacterial film floating on top of the drinks. We also did not feel safe because we are not even close to six feet away from other people. I also found quite a few hairs in my food. The bathroom also didn't have soap and at a time like this that is very important. My waiter was very snippy and rude. Our waitress never even came to check up on us .Our table was filthy and sticky. The only reason I am outputting this review is because I know that this restaurant can do better. McDonalds has better customer service than this. read more
