came in about 1:15 we sat down a simple group of 4 just wanting some breakfast like the reviews said. another couple came in around 15 minutes later and got food and drinks first no big deal 4 is more than 2 but our food came out cold with no flavor. it smells weird in there. the service was ungodly slow and we didn't even get a drink order until we placed our food order. at least they comped our cold food i suppose. read more

Probably one of the best green chili, covered burritos, I have had. My wife really enjoyed the blt wrap minus the Miracle Whip.

Great little diner serving traditional comfort food. We had omelets with hash browns. The omelets were large and fluffy and the hash browns were cooked just right. Service was fast and very friendly. Our water and coffee was refilled several times. We travel back and forth between Casper and Thermopolis quite a bit and Hayden's will definitely become a regular breakfast stop for us. read more

I haven't been for quite some time as it was smoking in one section in Mills WY! They changed it, and now all non smoking so I have been 2 times in 3 weeks. NOTHING fancy here, just good home made cooking. My friend that was with me for lunch asked for a dinner roll and she did not have any with the soup. However, she was kind and did offer toast. It has potential, but.... The bottom line: just average food, very nice server and decent service, mediocre coffee, needs some cleaning. Came here for breakfast on a Sunday morning with the in-laws. Definitely a local dive and if you knew the Copper Kettle... nuff said. It's loud, lots of hollering locals and screaming kids. The food was fine, B&G is good, sausages are not your standard Sysco drivel, portions are oversized. Coffee was not bad, but not good. The tough part was when my shoes stuck to the carpet... I went to Hayden's before it was non smoking and liked the food but couldn't take the smoke . Since they have gone non smoking I get there every other week or so. For the reviewers that panned it they mostly did so because its old. It is old though the recently replaced the blinds. So if you are from California and want sparkly and new food service food this is not the place for you. he burgers aren't perfectly formed , the fries aren't uniform in size.If you want a local place run by very nice people who are eager to help you have good experience this is the place for you. I also think they have the best hamburger in Casper. Ive tried them all and i love the simplicity of what they offer . Ive had breakfast several times too and I love their hash browns. read more

This place serves a very delicious breakfast that stacks right up there with the big boys. Wait staff was attentive and polite. Eating zone was clean other than the stench from years of smokers inside the building. Disappointing to see small eating establishment who offer such great food allowing this socially unacceptable behavior in their place. Kick out the smokers, add some fresh paint and air it out. Started out with the soup of the day, hamburger cabbage. Just a cup of soup that really did not hit it out if the park but still good. The chili burger and fries looked very good. The taste was just a little off, maybe should if had red chili instead of green. The fries were really a good try needed be be fried in hotter oil, were a little too greasy but seemed to be home made. I would most likely try this again for breakfast to see if I could get another star out of this place. read more

I've been here a few times in the past, and would describe it as average. Decided to go last week for lunch because I wanted a greasy hamburger. I was pleasantly surprised when I found that that had done some renovations to clean up the place a little. Not only that but the hamburger I had was fantastic. It was huge with thick slices of bacon, it was all I could do to eat it all in one go. My side salad was fresh and the ranch dressing tastes homemade. Its really, really run down and very dirty. Carpet was filthy. Blinds in the windows were falling apart and falling down. Dirty, greasy hand prints everywhere. Vinyl tablecloths were torn, the dinnerware had seen better days, and there is a smell of old stale cigarette smoke as you walk inside. I'm pretty sure that if the main part of the restaurant was this dirty, the kitchen is probably a lot worse. But... we decided to give it the benefit of doubt as a friend recommended this place. We should have looked elsewhere to eat..... My BLT was made from old bacon. The bread was stale. The fries were obviously reheated. Needless to say I didn't finish my meal. Not even close. My husband had the biscuits and gravy. Most was left on his plate which is unusual for him as he loves this meal. Please owner(s), if you read this review, please shut down for a day or two and rent a carpet cleaner. Replace or get rid of the blinds in the windows, and wash those windows. Buy new dinnerware. People dont like eating off chipped plates or drinking from glasses that have cracks in them. Freshen up with some paint. And air out your place. Get rid of that stale smoke smell! And find a better short order cook! read more

Food is great as well as the atmosphere and there's not many places that can brag on actually having good coffee

I have been eating at Haydens' place ever since my first review. The food is still very good. However the staff's attention to details has been going downhill for the last year. On one occasion, I was served refrigerator temp gravy on my chicken fried steak. On another occasion, I was served a bowl of red chili that was refrigerator temp in the center. On our last visit we paid $22.04 for 2 Cheesburgers, 2 orders of onion rings(instead of fries not in addition to) , and a bowl of Green Chili. My cheeseburger had a 2 1/2 inch tall onion butt with the rest of the fixings. Not sure what I was supposed to do with that unless it was to dice it up myself, in which case the cook neglected to include a knife. The "Bowl" of green chili to go was 1 1/2 inches from the top of the container it came in. Just to see what I was paying for, I measured it. It measured 1 1/4 cups of green chili. I am sorry, but that is not a "Bowl' of chili in my opinion, especially for the price. Maybe if the container had been almost full I wouldn't have noticed. Their burgers are still one of the best in town, but the patties have shrunken away from the edge of the bun by at least an inch all the way around in the last year. While I still love their food, I am less inclined to eat there anymore, as I usually feel like am not getting my moneys worth in quantity, quality, and attention to details. Unfortunately for those reasons I have to lower the rating to 2 stars since I am usually irritated by the experience lately. read more

Their "non smoking" section is a joke as it's the other half of the room where smoking IS allowed. Yuck! Get with the times.... Smoking in eating places is gross! read more

If you're looking for a place to write a bad review about, this is it! The new owners must be trying to hold down their costs because the first thing I noticed was it was very chilly inside. I ordered the ribeye steak, because it is my favorite cut of meat, and went to the salad bar. The salad bar was okay, as salad bars go, except for the lettuce being slightly wilted and a little brown around the edges and the ranch dressing was pretty thin, like it had been watered down. It wasn't long until my steak arrived, about half-way through eating my salad. I had ordered it to be cooked medium-rare but, it was brought out mostly well done to something close to medium-well. So, you might be wondering how could it be cooked so fast and still be over-cooked? That is because the steak was only about 3/8" thick, about the size of slice of breakfast ham! And it doesn't end there. The mashed potatoes would have been just fine if the cook hadn't scooped up the crust that formed on the top of the serving pan that forms from not keeping it covered and put that on my plate. On the bright side, the gravy and corn tasted very good. The final disappointment was when I paid for my meal. Rather than getting a lot of one's for my change after paying, I gave the cashier enough money that I would get back exactly two twenties and two quarters. But, the cashier started to count out some one dollar bills and I had to tell her what the change would be for my bill. By the way, it was clear that this was not the cashier's first time around the block, if you know what I mean. The bottom line here is that I doubt I will ever eat at Hayden's again. It was 100 times better when it was the Kopper Kettle! read more
