Great food. Their carry out business is brisk, so it takes a while to get your order sometimes. And sometimes they sell out of popular items. We've had mixed experiences here, though, with customer service. A couple of times they were quite rude, not only to us, but once to another guy in line in front of us who just wanted to substitute one thing in his dish. They just snapped at him that there were no substitutions. Then they snapped at us to hurry and decide what we wanted. We're just a couple of seniors. Geez. We're done with the place. This place is absolutely insanely amazing! I came here one time with a friend and we ended up walking out because we thought the prices were a little bit high. And then the food looked so good so I knew I would have come back eventually. The prices are more than reasonable for the amount of food that you get! And also the quality of what they use and the way they prepare the food really shows up in the way it tastes. I will absolutely come back here without any question. Oh man this is good takeout. Everything is very fresh and HUGE! The Berliner has a little spicy sauce and so much flavor! The falafel is cooked perfectly. Have eaten here at least 3 times that I can recall. It's tucked away in a weird corner of a strip mall but it's worth finding. Hummus is great, although the pita bread was sliced into strips that makes it almost too flimsy to use, but that's nit picky. My wife and I live in South County, and we were looking for a new place to eat. We stumbled across J's due to it's nearby location and decided to give it a shot. We first came in around April or so, and decided to try a bunch of the items on the menu. Let me say that everything was delicious! We have tried just about everything so far but our favorites include: Falafel, Doner Kebab (Beef is preferred but chicken is good as well), Cevapi, Cheesesteak, and stuffed flatbread. Every time we come here, we order the falafel salad to share, I order the Cevapi or Kebab, and my wife orders the stuffed flatbread. Overall, we had a tremendous first experience which led us to ordering just about every week! Every time we have ordered takeout, our food is correct and hot. This place is great! I was in the area for an errand and wanted something better than fast food, but had the kids and didn't want to sit. I didn't grab photos but ordered to go. We had a gyro, hummus, and baklava. I was eyeing the meat pie because it did look great but wasn't sure I had time for an afternoon nap. The gyro was really good...all the way around balanced, good portion without being heavy. Hummus was even better. My wife ordered it and I was taking every bite offered. The bread served with it is chewy and delicious! The baklava was a great way to round out the meal. My wife is not a fan of honey and she loved it. I will absolutely go out of my way to eat here again...I need to try that meat pie and the stuff flat bread. Oh I forgot...great fresh lemonade! We went on a Saturday around 6:30 and it was busy with online/call-in orders. We were the only ones dining in. We ordered hummus and somun which was great! We also had a doner kebab sandwich and a gyro. Those two things were just OK. If you're expecting the "normal" gyro meat you're used to, this isn't it. While it was good, it wasn't what we were expecting. I gave this a 3-star "OK" rating because for the prices, there are better places out there. The staff, particularly the person taking the orders, was overwhelmed. She was short with people that walked in and with people over the phone. All in all, the place was really cute and the food was OK. But, again, for the prices and what we're used to eating Mediterranean wise, we won't go back. read more
